My step son turned 18 a few months ago, and we have only had a few token emails since. Nothing at all personal and avoids addressing anything about when he plans to visit again. We know he has been "groomed" that he will have to cut of relationship with us once there was no longer a court order, and we are pretty sure that is happening and that the only reason there is still any contact is because of graduation. The whole thing is infuriating.

Have you been rejected by your JW children?
by AlwaysSeeking init's been a long time since i last posted, but something recently happened that is making making me heartsick... i just learned that one of my children is engaged to be married.
all of my children are grown up and when they reach around 18 years old, decided to become jws.
they were quite young when i left the organization, shortly after which my wife and i separated.

They did this in our neighborhood a few weeks ago. Once I didn't answer, and the next time they never knocked.

At what age did you start to notice that you were getting/looking "Old"?
by JH in.
we all get older every day, that's not my question, but at what age did you notice that you weren't able to do as much as when you were younger, or at what age did you start to see a different person in the mirror..and it didn't please you.

Well, I hope I never act old, but my body feels old a lot of the time, and my hairdresser is set to start making a boatload of money covering the grays that are appearing all over my head. Mentally, I feel like a kid who is stuck in an adult body with adult responsibilities who flies by the seat of their pants. I have stopped getting carded for buying alcohol (unless it is a teenager behind the cash register) so I suppose I am looking a little older.

We just looked at a 6,200 sq ft beauty today- a "bargain" at $3.1 million for the fully furnished model. (No, we are not buying it) It had great WOW factor when you walked into it- which it had better, for that price. http://www.bressiranch.com/showhome.php?ID=25.

How closely does your online personality match the REAL you?
by nicolaou ini think i come across as a bit agressive online but in reality i know i'm extremely chilled - lazy some might say.
i'm greek you see and we do so love to argue the toss - loudly and insistently - and then have a game of tavli (backgammon) afterwards.
thing is most of my family are still jw's and as i can't do it with them you guys end up getting both barrels!!.

I talk way more in person than I do here. It takes me forever to get out what I want to say when typing a response. (just ask freedom96) I am highly opinionated- but not in a pushy way, and my husband says that my opinions are usually right.

Is revenge sweet?
by lovelylil ina friend of mine recently told me that she had committed this "act of revenge" on an elders wife once.
i know the elders wife too and she is such a snoody-nose in the air, my family is better than yours person.
both her boys grew up witnesses and are in the org.

I worry about karma too, but then I think, what if I am supposed to be part of the karma coming back to bite the person in the a**? What if I am shirking my duty in the karmic universe by not carrying out a plan of revenge?
I like that subscription idea! Do magazines keep track of the local where the request comes from, or do they just enter the address and toss the paper?

UPDATE: Semi-Back-in-Business
by RichieRich inover the past couple of weeks, i've learned a lot about myself and those around me.
life might suck, but life moves on.. mom's grip is weakening, prob.
because she's getting tired, or because she's beginning to realize how things are.. not everything i have done is admirable, but its done.

When you left the JWs did you keep their publications?
by White Waves ini threw everything away except the bible (which i now know is crap), the songbook and reasoning from the scriptures ( to use against them... primarily the conversation stopper part).
so many posters seem be able to access jw info easily and quote it... i wonder if i should have kept everything.
at the time, it was a way to start over and commit to never going back.

Nope. Straight to the local recycling center! I just hope that some poor soul didn't take them home, since raiding the magazine and book recycling boxes was quite common in the are we lived in- for instance, it is where my ex husband used to get all his porn.

"but Gosh, MAN, I'm trying sooooo hard and no one even notices! No one even cares! I just want to belong somewhere........................I'm tired of being a nobody!"
Hope she is not too tired of it, because if she does "prove" herself, she'll have her 2 minutes of fame and then she'll be back to being a nobody. She thinks she is tired and stressed now? I have never heard of anyone who would try so hard to prove themselves worthy. It is so sad that she thinks she is a nobody just because they won't let her get baptized. It doesn't sound like she thought she was a nobody before she stopped being a baptist.

I knew a family growing up in which the kids were not allowed to pour their own milk, not even the 16 year old. The one time we stayed at their house, I got the big scary owl eyes from the kids when I dared to grab the milk and pour my own. When they told me that we were not allowed to do that, I just looked at them and said "Your kidding, right?" They were not.
My ex father in law would leave a $4 tip for a $70 meal. Every time we went out with him for dinner, we would wait until he turned to leave the restaurant and make up the difference.
My step-sons mother rationed his milk because they were "so poor" and would yell at him if she thought it was being used too fast. Then we would find out that she had gone to Florida on vacation, or a cruise or something or other. So every time he came down, he would grab the tallest glass in the house and fill it up. We just felt so bad that she thought vacation was more important than a growing boy having his milk.
