this was in my e-mail this morning.

when people like you commit something wrong and get disfellowship you can't say to yourself "i was wrong, i messed up, me and only me," you can't say that because is much easier to go around blaming others for your own mistakes.

Wow. that is the most defensive letter I have read in a long time. Seems that someone had a nagging doubt somewhere in their head that got seriously raked over the coals when they ignored the "advice" to not do any internet research and read what they did!

This person also goes on the popular assumption that no one would just voluntarily walk away. Anyone who departs such perfection as exists in the organization just can't take responsibility for their actions. That is exactly the stance that is drilled into them to keep them under the thumb of the organization. It is so sad to see people like that. But as others have said, he seems to have the curiosity to read on his own, causing him to look at "forbidden" information. Maybe he will be fortunate and just open enough that what he reads will break through and open his eyes.

Some dreams are too weird

worst dream i had (apart from armageddon ones) was when i stood up walked away from the sofa and when i looked back i could still see me sleeping on the sofa, that was shooooo weird.

so then i go up to me and grab me by the arm to wake me up, i could feel my arm as a seperate being....i woke up in a real sweat, totally freaked out.

whats your worst freakyish dream?.

Ravyn - Good question re japanese women, I don't know. I just know that they say don't eat it while you are pregnant because of the slight risk of parasitic infections but I am REALLY wanting some. I told my sister that after this baby is born the best thing someone will be able to bring me in the hospital is sushi and a beer to celebrate!

Marriage Proposal

as some of you may know, jeff aka gopher and myself have been living together since last summer.

well he popped the question to me this past wednesday night and i said "yes!".

what i think i need now is a lot of support from our friends in this forum.

Congratulations Gopher & Yourschelbie! That is wonderful!

The best advice I can give is not to let whatever the exes may try to pull interfere with the happiness you have found together. That is not to say that the exes won't cause you stress, but if you remain focused on your relationship and the new family that you are creating rather than letting whatever they are doing become the focus, you will weather whatever they may throw at you and come out stronger in the end.

The exes were there when you got together, and if there are children involved, they will be a factor in your life until the children are grown - that you cannot change. But work together and support each other to resolve whatever comes your way and the miserable exes will be nothing more than an annoyance in the grand scheme of things. ( Very important to look at the big picture) Neither of you can control what your respective exes may decide to do if they are into trying to make you miserable. But you can control how you react to it and how you let it affect your realtionship. Getting married again can certainly bring out the monster in some exes, and I can say that from personal experience with miserable exes on both sides! But sticking together and supporting each other will help you get through any crap they decide to pull.

It is amazing what our subconscious can create isn't it? I know I have had some wacky ones lately, but they say that is normal for being pregnant. The worst were the ones about the rattlesnakes that were coming after me. The strangest was the other night I had a dream that Mr. Rogers was my doctor and he prescribed sushi to make me feel better, right down to showing me the RX with a restaurant written on it and what he thought was the best to order there. (I am really missing not being able to eat sushi right now and my sister had called me that day to tell me that she was having sushi for lunch, which probably triggered the dream.)

Thanks for posting that. I was hating that I had missed the broadcast and was glad to be able to see it.

True, it was not a heavy duty piece, but it did put the issue back in the public eye and back in the minds of anyone who watched it. ANYTHING that keeps this issue on people's minds is a very good thing. The more publicity it gets, the faster it will erode their ability to continue to claim that all these victims are lying about the abuse. The more victims that come forward publicly, the faster it will be shown that these are not isolated incidents and that cases were handled the same all over the world, blowing apart any claim that the mistakes were local and isolated, to be blamed on "local handling."

How Many Young People That You Knew Are Still Active JW's???

most of the jw young people that i have known are either inactive, irregular, or "out of the truth" completely.

very, very few are still associated as witnesses now.

are there any zealous young people out there anymore??

Of the 25 or so in the teen/early 20 range when I was a teenager, by my last count less than 10 remain active witnesses. Of those, at least 3 have been DF'd and later went back. The rest are either fades, or got DF'd & did not go back.

Bay Area Dubs

i just talked to my ex about her weekend and she said something that really disturbed me.

she spent the weekend up in the bay area (sf area of ca) with a bunch of dubs.

she was telling me about them and made the comment of them being different from the stuffy here in fresno.

I remember visiting different congregations growing up and it always seemed that the grass was greener. IT always LOOKED like they had more fun or were more relaxed, but then again when you are visiting you are a guest, and are therefore entertained as one. Until you LIVE in that place for a while, it is unlikely that you will see exactly what it is like. It is once the new person status or guest status wears off that you get the true picture.

what did you do with all your old books and magazines from the watchtower?

did you throw all of them away, or did you keep a few?.

i still kept a few bibles and a couple of books.

They went to a local recycling center. I now regret not burning them because I am afraid that some poor unsuspecting sould may have found them and read them!

What is Happening to Charity? - Jun 1st 2003 Watchtower

Same old same old. They hold up examples of witnesses helping witnesses in times of need, but blatantly absent, of course, is ANY mention of helping anyone in need, which is the point of charity. Jesus did not discriminate or help only his followers, he even helped those who were supposed to be his enemies. Jesus went out of his way to make it clear that help should be offered to all in need, no matter who they were. A big whoop-di-do that witnesses claim to help their own - anyone can do that and it certainly is not noteworthy by any stretch of the immagination. Nice of them to take credit in a magazine for the actions of one local congregation for ONE woman who probably was leaving her whole estate to the society in the first place as if actions such as that are a common occurance. And of course there is the plug on the preacing work being a form of charity work at the end in order to absolve people of responsibility to help in a way that would really be of benefit to the community. They indict other charities by broadcasting the bad publicity in order to be able to boast about how much better they are and act as if they are completely above reproach for anything. Absolutely nauseating.
