Remember when KH's had a piano and real singing?
by WingCommander inthe thread about got me thinking about my very early childhood, back when witnesses were allowed to be social and have get togethers.
they also had a piano in every congregation i ever attended, and an older sister would always play the kingdom melody.
there was actual singing - not mindless droning and humming.

Yea, I remember that from the 70's, early 80s. Our cong had a piano and violinist. I was fascinated by the interplay of the two.

Do we need to experience the bad to know the good??
by lowden ininspired by a few posts from the 'suffering' thread, i pose the above question.. is it really necessary to experience or even know of evil deeds in order to appreciate good, benevolence, peace.. certain peoples and indigenous tribes have lived in peace and probably still do with little, if any, disturbance and malevolence within their communities.
they don't need evil to appreciate good, surely.. one current headline story over here in britain is of a 7yr old girl murdered, shot in the back by a drug dealer because she'd seen his face.
he's just got 40yrs in jail.

Not necessarily but i think it's subjective.
For instance, the idea of "bad associations spoil useful habits" once believed and applied to the outside world in general became modified and more selective once personal experiance taught self that it applies to some but not all. No way to tell unless self went there.
On the other hand, I didn't need to smoke crack to know it's bad for me; the evidence was all around me at the time.

Still in one piece but the wheelchair isn't

i was out gallavanting around - buying one thing here another there and finally heading home.. the chair hit a bump and the front wheel broke off sending me flying with the chair landing on top of me.
personally i think it was a temper tantrum designed to let me know they were tired and wanted to ride me for a while.. i had just passed a man sitting on a bench waiting for the bus and he rushed right over to help.

This is to say that evil is a moral principle that pre-existed the philisophical idea of God that was created by man as a need to put order and meaning in our world?
It is our innate nature to be "bad"? Everything tends toward entropy? (Inevitable and steady deterioration of a system or society)
Chaos is the nature of the universe. And is neither good nor bad, it just is.
