If I believe i have invisible friends to guide or lead me astray, I do, but I don't anymore.
Seeing is believing; the rest is subjective, if not outright bs.
do you believe in the existence of angels?
what about demons?
do you believe in the biblical heirarchy of seraphs, cherubs etc?

i've been thinking about this topic for some time.. wisdom and folly.
sages and prophets in the bible texts and the wider ancient near eastern world.
apollo and dionysos in greek tradition.
I'd really love to see other xJWs explain how they now deal, either as believers or unbelievers, with the "foolish" side of their past and/or present "faith".
I understand it is difficult because it has to do with our most vulnerable spots. It's so easier to look and sound reasonable in public. But I believe we have much more in common than "common sense".
Is society a crowd of lonely fools acting wise? Or am I the only one?
past is past. perhaps the best place to leave it, no?
what is "common sense" exactly? Seems relative somewhat. However, what is more common than "common sense"?
yes you are,....
:-)

While this topic clearly exceeds the JW/xJW sphere, I'd like to ask a couple of questions here:
(1) Do you think you were attracted to the JW teaching because "it seemed reasonable" (borrowing from a frequent and revealing WT phrase) or because it sounded (and ultimately was) crazy? (This question mostly addresses JW "converts" rather than "born-in")
(2) Since you left the "truth" (lol), have you been mostly pursuing some form of "reason" (which can include scientific knowledge, plain "common sense" or social "normalcy") or some form of "folly" (whether religious experience or personal fantasy/intuitions for instance)?
(1) does not apply; born & raised
(2) does
I'd have to say it's been a mix of the two. Always thought it took some experimentation to arrive at some sorta truth,.....:-)
i have a situation that i need help with....2 1/2 yrs ago i met a woman online she is 20 yrs older then me 41 now as i am 23...i fell in love with her and i never have been in a long relationship.
i know she is married but very unhappy...we been having a long distance affair for 2 1/2 years and i love her more then anything in this world...i have made her very happy and just the other day she feels trapped knowing she will be destroyed...i did not know what jw's were so i have been going to learn so i could understand her.
i need help scriptures anything that i can use to help her leave her mentally abusive husband.
On line relationships are usually fantasies.
True dat.
watching my son grow is amazing.
he is into everything, thoroughly enjoying exploring, growing and learning every day.. i was reflecting how as each day passes, he learns more and he knows more; and thinking back to my childhood.
the more i learned, the more i knew.
Do you have any other suggestions for continuing to know everything?
Believe what you read and see.

Cool. I've thought what a bittersweet tradeoff innocence and clarity is for age and knowledge, to lose instinct for thought, in a sense.
every so often i dream that i still run into jws and most often in the dream, i'm trying to get away.....any thoughts???
?
Did You Ever Dream Of Being A Jehovah's Witness???
Can't say I ever had that dream. Being one was more like a dream and I'm glad I woke up.
After leaving, I had dreams of the apocalyse and lots where I would be afraid of running into active jws who knew I was DA. I remember a few dreams where there were demons and angels and one where I heard God say I AM. That one was intense, it was like I didn't hear it as much as feel every atom in me and all around resonate the thought. I won't get into the levitation bit, lol. But one I'll never forget. Dreams, eh? They're funny. But all that was a long time ago; I don't have such dreams anymore.
dear friends,.
my favorite poem is not in vain by emily dickinson:.
if i can stop one heart from breaking,.
"Life is a swirling, sucking eddy of despair filled with brief glimpses of false hope in an ever darkening universe"

You know, this one always makes me laugh, no matter how dark the clouds are,....
okay, this is a series i loved in the 1970's ... except for that who bsg 1984 thing that should have never happened.
when the new series came out, i was all excited.
it was good, and then quickly it took the path of several series these days, in which it "covers very little each episode.
Yes, the revial of the original series in the '80s was forgettable,....lol
I kinda like the new series. Rather well done with a lot of character development. Top notch FX 'natch. What did you want to happen? I'm just glad there's no disco involved,....:-)
Watched the season 3 premiere tonight. The parallels to current events and moral commentary on decisions made in time of war are obvious and even so, if follows with the premise of the series. I do like the realism of the show and the psych treatment of the characters.
