  Patriotism...The American Flag...Pledge of Allegience...Are they Wrong???

  i'm confused about the whole 'patriotic' do's & don'ts.

  what is the real take on it....is it wrong to have anything patriotic?

  is it wrong to say the 'pledge of allegiance'?

  Hi LJ, wrong compared to what? It all depends on your core beliefs, you don't give any info on your background. If you consider yourself christian, then you are a citizen of God's government the Kingdom of Heaven, and Jesus said you can't follow two masters. If you are a American citizen go right ahead and follow the Consitution, which says you can do pretty much whatever you want as long as you don't harm anyone else or their property. If you think man's government is good follow them. there yoke is heavy. If you think God's government is good follow that. his yoke is light. Blindly following any government is a mistake.   i wondered how many abandoned going to any kind of church.

  or, if there are some who go to a church now.

  was it weird at first to go?

  Hi Lovelylil,

  I went to the link too. Click about us and it explains that they are free from state interference of their internal affairs. You can also pull up a pdf. brochure that has more information.

  I read that, but are they incorporated, I couldn't find that info? Corporations are part of the body of the State/Government, not the body of Christ. The State/Government is the authority over all incorporaed churches not Christ. where are they putting their their Faith to protect them, Christ or the government? Even the WTS cliams to be God's mouthpiece. My problem with incorporated churches is they have put their trust in man, rather than God. Peace Acadian

  Acadian:You've never heard of " Free " churches?

  I followed the link, but I don't see the differance from other church/buildings. By calling them free, does that mean free from the State? Not incorporated into the State? Are they a non profit corporation, recieving benifits and priviliges from the State/Government? I counldn't find any info on that. Acadian

  No, haven't found one that isn't incorporated into the State, and no part of the world, according to Christ you can't serve two masters.

  (2 Cor 6:16)
  16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:

  And they shall be My people.

  Christ followers are the church, the body of Christ, not some building.
  Not that follower's of Christ can't gather together in some building, but it is NOT the Church, the people are.
  
  God dwells in all of us, the Kingdom of Heaven is within you!
  If you don't enter the Kingdom while your alive, you won't enter after your dead.

  well read on.

  paragraph 13 asks, "what about performing a legitimate service, such as delivering mail everywhere in a community, including places that promote wrong practices?

  I was a US Postal Carrier for nine yrs, no one said anything to me, and I had over 5 churches on my route. Now what about working at a store as a clerk and selling tobacco? Acadian

  what have you done with your life, what friends have you made, what goals have you pursued, that were impossible to do as a witness?.

  i know that in our case, we have few friends yet, due to spending most of the past few years 'healing' from the borg-torture.

  i discuss politics and religion freely with many of them.

  Lot's of friends! It's funny in the org when I would ask for help on something I always seemed to get excuses why they couldn't help. My new "Worldly" friends go out of their way in most cases, which is a sad commentary on the dub's Acadian

  It's a book written by men, not that there isn't truth in it, but it's a book. You will find truth in it, but you can find truth in many other books also. Compare all the differant tranlations and you'll see the differances, the WTS is not the only ones who have corrupted the bible. Their just one of many who have. You don't need the bible to know truth...and your probably better off if you seek truth without the bible. Just read any post on this board about the bible or bible subjects and see the confusion/discord on any topic. There would probably be less confusion if all the books of the bible were missing...   For those who believe driving is a privilege...here are some court cites...

  The use of the highway for the purpose of travel and transportation is not a mere privilege, but a common fundamental right of which the public and individuals cannot rightfully be deprived." Chicago Motor Coach v. Chicago, 169 NE 221

  The right to travel is a part of the liberty of which the citizen cannot be deprived without due process of law under the Fifth Amendment." Kent v. Dulles, 357 US 116, 125.

  The right of the citizen to travel upon the public highways and to transport his property thereon, either by carriage or by automobile, is not a mere privilege which a city may prohibit or permit at will, but a common law right which he has under the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Thompson v. Smith, 154 SE 579.

  The right to travel is a well-established common right that does not owe its existence to the federal government. It is recognized by the courts as a natural right." Schactman v. Dulles 96 App DC 287, 225 F2d 938, at 941.

  Even the legislature has no power to deny to a Citizen the "RIGHT" to travel upon the highway and transport his property in the ordinary course of his business or pleasure, through this "RIGHT" might be regulated in accordance with the public interest and convenience. See: Chicago Motor Coach v. Chicago, 169 N.E. 22
  
  "Regulated" here means traffic safety enforcement, stop lights, sign, etc., NOT a privilege that requires permission, i.e.; licensing, mandatory insurance, vehicle registration, etc..

  The Constitution of the State of Colorado, Article II, §3 provides that:
  
  All persons have certain natural, essential and unalienable "RIGHTS," among which may be reckoned the "RIGHT" .... of acquiring, possessing and protecting property; ....

  A motor vehicle is property and a person cannot be deprived of property without due process of law. The term: "property," within the meaning of the due process clause, includes the "RIGHT" to make full use of the property which one has the unalienable "RIGHT" to acquire.
  Every Citizen has an unalienable "RIGHT" to make use of the public highways of the state; every Citizen has full freedom to travel from place to place in the enjoyment of life and liberty. See: People v. Nothaus, 147 Colo. 210

  Undoubtedly the "RIGHT" of locomotion, the "RIGHT" to remove from one place to another according to inclination, is an attribute of personal liberty, and the "RIGHT," ordinarily, of free transit from or through the territory of any State is a "RIGHT" secured by the Fourteenth Amendment and by other provisions of the Constitution. See: Williams v. Fears, 343 U.S. 270, 274

  I could keep going, but I think the point is clear, Driving is a RIGHT not a privilege unless you are a commercial driver. Ignorance of the law is no excuse! those who do not stand up for their rights don't deserve any! Peace Acadian
