  well, the elders were supposed to have met on monday, april 18 to decide if they would disfellowship me for adultery.

  there is no question of my guilt.

  Interesting points Alan. I never understood WHY they bother DF or DAing someone.

  It's irrelavent because they can de-facto shun someone. Don't underestimate the power of "marking" (an unofficial sanction). For example with the Andersons, all you would need would be for every CO to mention that "due to laws of Caesar, what is bound in heaven cannot always be bound upon the earth. However, we know how Jehovah views those casuing divisions in the congregation. If we are spiritually mature, we will not listen to such ones. etc etc". Then, allow the "elderette" gossip machine to "unofficially fill in the details."

  If you want to go further, you can get restraining orders against the individual, so that they cannot set foot in a KH. Claim they made a threat against the congregation, and turn it into a game of "he said, she said."

  I've seen it work at the circuit level when a "well-known" elder went apostate and threatened to sue if they were disfellowshiped. Yes, his old congo ended up successfully getting restraining order against him (trumped up charge of him making a threat; but 2 elders claimed to have heard). No formal announcement from the stage, but the net impact was the same.

  If you could create a new canon - what books/ writings would you include?

  ok so the bible is a work of the early roman church - if you could add any books to a new canon of 'scripture' what would you add - would you take anything out?

  Weight control issues.

  the weight control issue is strange in the sense that statistically most people that lose weight later on more or less quickly regain it, and all the money spent on weight loss gets wasted.

  i've had this problem for many years trying to lose 13kg (about 30lb)going from 95 to 82kg (210 to 180lb)the normal weight for my height and body frame.

  i lose a lot of weight even reaching the target but then regain it so i'm always ranging somewhere between 95 and 82kg.

  Seriously, I do a "pseudo" Atkins. I've cut almost all refined carbs (sugar, bread, pasta) out of my diet, and feel A LOT better.

  apparent attempts at defending da troof.. min were you already sick of it all and trying to keep your finger in the dyke, or did you really still believe and doing like some of the newbies do even now on this forum?.

  we all know the big scandals but what did you discover that really made you decide "this is enough??".

  usually, the elders will drop the case if lawsuit comes up. unless you start outing pedophiles and encouraging others to do so(Bill Bowen) or know where the skeletons are buried (Barbara Anderson), they will likely leave you alone. You likely will be "silently" DFed, and hopefully that doesn't matter to you.

  at work there is this girl there who keeps making eyes at me, but i'm not interested.

  on top of that, she keeps trying to strike up conversations and she goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on... its amazing!

  never a pause between sentences and barely a any space between words... just a very very long series of words coming out of her mouth non-stop.

  The sad part is the WT doesn't see the connection between the two. As my grandfather used to say, "Who do they expect to collect donations from if everyone is pioneering? " Odds are that Joe Publisher without a college degree is working two jobs to barely scrap by.

  Consider who extols forgoing a career. COs are provided: housing (all expenses paid), car (all expenses paid), health insurence. All living expenses are cared for by your donations.

  Drawing unfair comparisions-Convention talk on Tues night

  tuesdays meeting had a part about the upcoming summer convention.

  alot of q n a about how to dress, to wear your lapel at all times, to be clean, to not eat out bec the worldly vendors would be upset that they are not allowed to sell food inside the arena, to watch your language, conduct at the motels, to walk quietly, to not be in the halls during the sessions, informal witness at every opportunity etc.

  then this man comments and says, "what other religion would clean up the arena before and after a convention?

  It's funny. The WT tells JWs to NOT go out to eat, NOT spend money at businesses around the convention site, etc. Then, when negotating rents for the arena, the WT brags about how much $$$ the rank-and-file will be spending in the local community.

  If the WT could figure out how to get a cut of the concessions, they would have NO qualms about the concession stands opening.
