The "Great Tribulation" started in 1990, and has been limited to the WT bank account ever sense.

When will the "final message" be delivered to the world before the end? >>
by WingCommander init is my understanding, and i have always been told, that near the "end", during the great tribulation, the "final message," of jehovah would be delivered before all of the nations of the world, as one final chance of redemption.
and no, i'm not talking about the standard door-to-door preaching work, but a one-time only - final message of the coming destruction that was of to come right before the end, and it would cause the governments to hate the witnesses even more and cause even greater persecution, etc.
i was told this message would be the one final chance for any "inactive" or non-believers to ask forgiveness of jehovah and have mercy on them.

Sleeping at assemblies and conventions
by free2beme inmy in-laws still attend meetings and defend the faith to the best of their limited ability.
i saw limited, as their understanding of the faith ended somewhere around the 1980's and when you bring up new understanding, they think it might be apostate and do not listen.
there not alone, trust me, several witnesses do not grasp the changes.

"Noah -- an example for our day"
Noah preached for 120 years before the flood. Notice that 120 years from the beginning of Christ's presence will occur in October of 2034.

Worst/strangest bookstudy group
by Virgochik inok, i was reading the "worst bookstudy book" thread, and it got me thinking about the worst book study groups i went to.
once, my dad was study conductor and the study was held in an elderly sister's home.
there was antique furniture and doilies on the tables.

Ever get in a group that couldn't read, and the conductor made everybody take their turn reading a paragraph?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think I can one-up you here.
my favorite was the nut-job conductor who made us "role-play" while reading the Greatest Man book (round 1 -- early 90's). That's right, we were all assigned characters (Jesus, apostles, and a narrator), and were supposed to read whenever our character "spoke".

BURN DOWN THE KINGDOM HALLS!!
by nicolaou infirstly, do not burn down the kingdom halls!
i'm sure you can tell the difference between an attention grabbing topic title and a genuine call to arson.
i am not advocating illegal behaviour and neither would anyone associated with this site.. my question is; just how far would you go?

I was just reading a book about 4 young men who felt they had a just cause and blew up a building, thinking no one would be in it. A man was working late, and died.

Is that a reference to the chemistry building at UW-Madison?

New Light on 1914
by slimboyfat inso with all the study articles discussing new light some have speculated that something is in the works.
blondie pointed out that in 1995 there were also "new light" articles leading up to the generation and the "sheep and the goats" changes.
there was some debate on whether the new light on the generation was first released at the convention or in the autumn watchtower.

Guess it depended on where you lived. For me, it was most definitely announced, and very clearly and deliberately, at the 1995 district convention in Hamilton, Ontario,
------------------------------------------------
it was 1993 in the US. The first talks after lunch on Saturday. Yor're welcome to look the program up. I remember at the time making a crack about "the collective jeh-hoggie induced coma" afflicting most of those in attendance, and my mom bursting out with laughter.
Either that or indigestion as the jeh-hoggie, warm Shashta soda, and stale pudding put each through a private "great tribulation", indicating that a "great cleansing" would be emminent in the restroom.
I remember our battle cry well: "Beware the wrath of jeh-hoggie", followed by a loud farting noise.

We also take into consideration how many days the event takes place, which in turn, brings economic impact to the Green Bay Area, by filling hotel rooms and providing customers for local businesses.

which means they likely get the facility for $0 (or a nominal fee, which the local chamber of commerce picks up). I'd be shocked if you -

Latest WT study article - preparation for upcoming new light?
by truth_about_the_truth in.
the latest wt study article seemed like an article to prep the masses for 'new light' to be revealed in the very near future.. i have never seen an article like this one where they summarized their 'flashes of light' in their history in this manner and bombarded the minds with the need to accept all and any change within the org.. it could be for the purpose of getting the rank and file to accept a pretty big change or a series of big changes very soon.. what do you think?
what do you think it'll be?.
-
silentWatcher
Was the 1914 generation revealed at a convention? Hinted at maybe, but I think the 5/1/95 and 11/1/95 WT articles was the first real complete development of it
---------------------------------------------------------------
I remember the TALK(s) those WT articles were based was the first talks after lunch during the Saturday afternoon session. Everyone was still groggy with jeh-hoggie induced slumber. I still think the timing was intensional, since the FIRST talk after lunch is the one everyone forgets.
