Yup. What Zeroday said, and in my husband's experience, the minute he was baptized, he was dropped like a hot potato, while they went on to the next victim. My hubby noticed it right away...it was a real eye opener for him.

Did you get a little pressured to get baptized young?
by outofthebox inwe saw an elder the other night trying to convince a couple of kids that they were ready to be unbaptized publishers.
and then he went and added that he was baptized very young and they should too.
so, these two kids were feeling the pressure.

Did you feel that pressure too?
uh-huh....my mom said that I was old enough, and if armageddon came, and I wasn't baptised, I'd die.So, I did it.... Dumb-ass move on my part...

JWs Have a NEW TACTIC (at least to me)
by Gretchen956 ini have a new job now and take mass transit, the max train into town and then a short bus trip to work.
in between i have about 3 to 6 blocks to traverse, depending on what time it is and which bus i'm catching.
today i'm walking the last bit to my stop and watching the street for signs of the bus, and two women come walking up, at a good clip, and i can tell they are handing something out.

Crazy!!! How can they count the time, without ever having spoken a word? Oh, I suppose they are concentrating on placements instead of time?

Well, let's just say, that I was "under the influence" when I was baptised, and leave it at that ....

What would you say to this........
by fifi40 inyesterday my friends 14 year old son died after a lenghty stay in hospital.
he had cystic fibrosis and in september caught an infection resulting in him spending pretty much the rest of his time in ic during which he suffered 2 heart attacks and was on life support and for the final few weeks has not been conscious due to medication.
sadly he lost his battle yesterday.. he was a little chap who i knew and was friends with my son from first day at primary school.

Fifi, I'm very sorry for the loss of your friend's young son. I cannot imagine losing my own 15 year old. how devastating!
Dad's reaction initially was how sad and then............'its the best thing that could have happened to him......now he has the hope of the resurrection'
I heard that very comment today from my mother, and it really pi$$es me off. However, it made little difference to her, about the resurrection, when my grandmother passed away almost a year ago this month! She was inconsolable then.
This comment, to me anyways, shows how little compassion they really have for others.

Were The Elderly & Infirm Truly Given Assistance In Your Hall?
by minimus inour congregation had a number of elderly ones who regularly complained that no one ever helped them.
since the elders didn't really want to be responsible for them, they decreed that the family should help out first.
fair enough.

The elders and their mutual admiration society could take their "tradition" and shove it.
Good for you, Scully. I'd have done, and said, the same damn thing. The way I saw it, when I was a regular attendee of meetings, the elderly were on their own. My grandparents and their elderly friends would always be put together in their own car group for service. They looked after each other, because everyone else was too busy.
I can tell you firsthand, that the only ones who visited my grandparents in the nursing home, were Mary's aunt and cousin. Faithfully, every two weeks. There was once, and one time only, that the P.O. actually visited them, and it was right after he remarried...other than that, nobody came. It made me sick....but hey! What goes around, eventually comes around.
God's loving organization be damned! Oh, but they did have a big comfy chair in the back of the hall, for one sister who had trouble walking and sitting, but she wasn't elderly....then it was a free for all, every meeting, for a couple sisters, fighting over who would get the chair first. LMAO...

Wine drinkers
by golf2 inhow many on this forum enjoy drinking wine or beer?
on what occasions do you drink wine or beer?
these are start off ?
-
delilah
Now, the ? is, what does it do for you?
What it does for me? I enjoy the taste....I don't drink the good stuff to get drunk, although I like the warm fuzzy feeling....
For instance, this Merlot I found...it has a very velvety, smooth texture, with a bit of a peppery finish. Very nice.
