Sometimes Our Dogs know better!
by restrangled inwe had someone come to the house tonight for business purpuses and relayed there was a dog in the driveway.. i went out and found a female pit bull looking like she was nursing.
i quickly attached her to a chain and called the number on her tag.
(no response) but left a message that we had her contained.

I finally had a return call from the owner....she was furious I had not given an address......Stating that the county was ready to put the dog down if it was ever reported loose again.
Maybe she should be more careful and keep her dog inside, or chained in the yard..... stupid dipshit. Some people should NEVER own an animal. And she was angry with you?... she should be thankful you didn't call the humane society...the dog would surely have been put down then, because of it's owner's stupidity.

Screwed up families
by Irish Rose ini was thinking about my relatives, both the jws and those who never were.
i grew up where my mom became one around 1974, my dad never did become one.
i was quite young when mom became a jw, but there are things that i remember on what it was like before.

Welcome to the forum, Irishrose....I can relate somewhat to your story...my non-jw family are pretty cool, as are my husband's Catholic family...I love them to bits.

want to know what's weird?
by ninja inwe all know there is no mention of cats in the bible...not one....but another thing that's weird is that there is no reference to any people in the old testament taking their kids down to the beach to make sandcastles and stuff...why?

umm.........perhaps they were too busy waging war, in the name of Jehovah the almighty?? Just a thought.

Movies, can you relax and watch them or are they just useless waste of time
by MariAruet inas witnesses we were constantly bombarded with idea how movies are dangerous waste of time and that our time could be better spent.
i know that is exterme view but i still feel guilty when just sitting there and watching a movie like that.
i've spoken with few of my old friends and they feel the same.

I'm not much of a movie watcher, to begin with. It has nothing to do with the society's brainwashing, I just find it hard to sit still....it drives my husband crazy, as he loves to relax and watch a good movie...regularly.
The last movie I saw, though, was Blood Diamond, and I really enjoyed it. I will wait until a movie is released on dvd instead of going to the theater. I don't find the theater relaxing...there always seems to be distractions all around me, like I'm a magnet or something.

Has anyone ever accepted a evil slave tract at an assembly?
by PinTail ini did once, it was in ogden, utah events center.
it was after the afternoon talk and me and my ex-wife was walking to our car, and nice fellow asked if i would like to look at a tract, i said yes thank you.at that very moment this other fellow jehovah's witness came over and rudely jerked it our of my hand, and told me did you not hear the brother from bethel, to not accept tracts from them and to just look straight ahead.
needless to say this embarrassed me a great deal, cause there was many other witness's walking with me as well as my daughters seen me being disrespected, so i slugged that so and so, right smack on his nose and it knocked him to the ground, and i reminded him that i live in the good old u s of a, and i will read what i want!

I remember being handed a tract outside an assembly, when I was about 15. Another "brother", quickly grabbed it out of my hand before I even had a chance to look at it.

Do you spend an inordinate amount of time thinking of responses you would
by troubled mind inlike to make to your ex-witness friends and or family members.
sometimes i think i am becoming obsessive about it .
i see former "friends" and jw relations everyday .we live in a community of 6,000 and there are six witness families on my street alone.
-
delilah
Yes I did, when I first left. I'm not very good at quick responses, so I felt it necessary to run scenerios by my husband. Then, whenever I was confronted, I knew what I would say. I must admit, it all but drove my husband mad, but he understood why I did it, and it worked.
Now, I don't even recognize the witnesses when I see them, and they will not speak, so I don't need to do it anymore.

If you could repeat your life.
by DJK insorry for the edit.
this may have been a topic before.. i got the idea for this from crumpets thread "if i could make your dreams come true what would they be?".
i have been asked many times "if i could go back in my life and change it, what would i do?
-
delilah
The main thing that I would have changed, is leaving the organization when I was first DF'd, instead of going back for more. Then I would have gone back to school to become an architect. Everything else that happened in my life, helped to shape and mold me into the person I am now.

If I could make your dreams come true what would they be?
by Crumpet in5go's thread about atheists returning to god (or vomit as gregor puts it so well .
i would like everyone to have at least one long held dream or ambition come true.
or are you lucky enough to have made your dreams into substance already?.

To have enough money, that I could quit my job and be home with my kids. Go back to school during the day, for architecture and design and start my own multi-million dollar business.
Then, when I retire, I would be able to help out the orphanages in other countries, maybe adopt another child or two......
