DarkUncle and Mispeaches...both great answers.
You have an awesome opportunity here. He is sharing something so inately personal with you that most kids (myself included) simply shut my parents out of. He is quite likely to know what his sexuality means. He may be going thru a phase yes. He may be bi yes. Or maybe he is really gay and is using the "bisexual" label to slowly let you adapt to it. I knew I was gay at 11 or 12 so he isn't really that young. So you have an opportunity to keep the communication lines open....or have them get shut down. And if you shut them down, they quite likely will shut down for a very, very long time.
Tell him how YOU FEEL. Don't try and hide your feelings or whatnot. Be as open with him as he is with you. Tell him what makes you scared, what makes you happy, what makes you wonder about his sexuality. Obviously allow enough room for "personal space" as he doesn't need to tell you all the intimate details of his sexual life as you don't need to tell him about yours. But do not try and "spare" his feelings any, as you can never save someone from hurt. Being honest and open promotes understanding. But then also try to find out HOW HE FEELS. Without judging. Remember, this conversation is probably the hardest thing he has done in his whole life.
When I came out to my parents only a couple of years ago....they told me they wished I lied to them and really didn't want to know. Here was their 1st REAL opportunity to get to know their child. The child that had always put 500 or 1,000 miles of distance between them because it was just too painful to be honest. So to get told they wished I lied was pretty heart wrenching.
But makes sure he knows you love him regardless of his sexuality. He is not broken. He does not need counseling. He needs your unconditional love. You'll bumble along just fine if you keep that first and foremost.
Good luck, let us know if we can help.

Bi-Sexual
by misguided ini guess my new-found freedom of personal expression is working its way down to my kids.. i came home from a crazy day at work, ate my dinner, was loading the dishwasher, when my 13-year-old son says, .
"mom, i have something to tell you - i'm bisexual...i've been that way for a year now.
i still can't help but have my old jw brain at work, thinking this is not okay - kind of like, i'm an apostate with a bisexual son...what will my family say?!

Brooke, I looked at the book in question on the link you provided. I didn't really see anything offensive in it to me. Some people are very uncomfortable with humans being naked. Others see the beauty in the human body.
But if this is the most damning piece of evidence they produced I think the prosecution should be horse whipped.
The article you posted by Ms. Diamond is a bunch of self serving crap. There wasn't any hard evidence in her entire article. She only wanted to demonize MJ. Yes he's a freak show. No I wouldn't let my child stay with him. But lawyers and people with axes to grind can take any random fact and spin it anyway they choose.
If prosecuters entered your house Brooke can you honestly say you wouldn't have anything in your house that may raise eyebrows? A vibrator where a child may find it? Porn of your hubby's hidden somewhere? Internet files you'd prefer the entire world not know about? -

I've had a fair bit of time off for the first time in my life where I wasn't on vacation and traveling somewhere. I've been home doing my thing ...meaning doing nothing....but it all comes to an end next Monday. :(

Just Because You "Feel" Something Is True Doesn't Make It So
by minimus init's interesting how some people "feel" and "know" whatever their gut tells them.
some are making the outcry that michael jackson is clearly a child molester.
whether he was acquitted or not makes no difference to them.

I'm with ya Min. As in other threads the constant postings of some is disturbing. When shown statistics and facts to the contrary of their stated position, and they still fall back on "Well if it makes me FEEL safer I'm all for it" drives EvilForce over the edge. So they don't really care about reality. They only care about how it makes them FEEL. The topic can be MJ, gun control, cameras in public, etc.... etc. For alot of folks it doesnt' matter, they know how they feel or would like to feel, and the facts be damned.

Terry...so you would prefer to just change you email and password info at one place and it would update all your accounts and what not eh? What happens if they hack that one site. They then have access to your bank accounts, email, JWD id, and everything else. Be careful what you wish for !

Sounds like a drunken lout showing his ass. The cops probably should have cited him for drunk and disorderly conduct. I really don't think it's a "politically correct" move by the officers.

I find it odd that people can hear 30 second sound bytes from the trial and know whether or not MJ is guilty or not guilty. 12 people + alternates spent weeks and weeks and weeks hearing testimony from both sides and determined that MJ was not guilty. I would say people had a pre-conceived notion on his guilt or innocence and whatever they chose to believe from the trial snippets only firmed this belief up. It's not a perfect system, but it's better than alot of the alternatives. If he's truly guilty MJ will have karma catching up with him. But I'm going to trust the 12 folks who were there and assume they are correct.

JV, your personal choice in choosing blood or not is your right. It's your body. But is your opinion gospel for other people? Of course not. However, I hear a bit of JW programming in you. Taking blood under "dire circumstances" is ok but not "electively" taking it? If you require a blood transfusion guess what.....IT'S FRICKING DIRE! It's not as if you walk into the doctor's office and say, "Yo doc, give me a flu shot, a refill on my allergy meds, oh...and how about 2 pints of blood, I'm feeling a bit peckish".
While you ask me if I was in a GB meeting in order to take notes and to know "what they knew and when they knew it".... you seem able to make an opposite conclusion.... "In their minds they think they're doing the right thing not out to intentionally hurt people." Were YOU there? Cause I'd like to see the minutes of that meeting myself.
The current blood stand is bording on the insane. It's like having a serious debate on how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. However, regardless of the outcome of the debate on angels dancing on a pin head....people won't die. These GB members never shy away from telling faithful Dub's what their responsibility to the borg is...and that the FDS is Jah's mouthpiece. They know their responsibilities. Are you saying they are just bumbling fools trying to do what's right? I think not.
You keep dragging unrelated issues into the discussion. We are not talking about the American Military, nor muslims, nor Benny Hinn. Those can all be saved for another thread. We are on the thread of this woman returning to the Dub's. -

Jehovah saved Michael Jackson!?
by Gill inso, there i was quietly dropping off to sleep while listening to the news at 10 on the bbc last night.
suddenly, michael jackson had been found not guilty of everything, and fair enough, i'm no judge or jury so it's not up to me to say yay or nay.. then my eldest son rushes into the bedroom on the phone to his jw full time pioneer girl friend.. her father had just told her that michael jackson had given credit to jehovah, that if he should be found not guilty of these charges his great god jehovah is the one that saved him and the girls elder father was saying what a wonderful witness this is, letting everyone in the world hear jehovah's name.. the best i could mumble at the time was 'go away you bunch of freaks!'.
however, the ludicrousness of this has finally dawned on me this morning!.
