Obviously tread carefully....but at least consider the need she has for sex and personal attention. Many, many people equate sex with love. This man makes her feel good obviously via sex even if he emotionally abuses her. She probably doesn't think she deserves better. With a screwed up puppy like this it's going to take time. She's probably lying to herself as well.

How long is too long?
by Insomniac injust a question, for those who might know.
how long should you hang onto a relationship, when it's becoming undeniably clear that it's going nowhere?.
i'm so in love, with the most wonderful person i've ever known.

Well not to get down on you but.....
You have made clear you won't move in with him. It's marriage or no dice.
He must propose to you.
You have "an idealized" idea of marriage.
I'd say you are both a bit set in your ways unable to give ground no? I have a few friends of mine that always feel a relationship has to "be going somewhere" in order for it to be good. They assure me it's a good relationship now...but want it to be "going somewhere". This always confuses me a bit. If you are enjoying your time together, love each other, who gives a shite?
You seem to care way too much how other see you. You want a big wedding. You won't live in sin without marriage. You care how others look at your "odd" relationship with him. SCREW THEM. It's your life and your relationship. If you love each other and it's good...so be it.
Maybe he's afraid that by marrying you it will turn into what his last marriage did. A great, passionate friendship that fizzled out once the rigors of day to day life reared their ugly head.
You make the first step. If you move in and everything goes ok...then in two years get hitched. I honestly feel women have been sold the biggest bill of goods by the wedding industry that somehow their day will be perfect and all issues will melt away. Blech! Huge magazines devoted to "the ideal wedding".
I have a nagging feeling you haven't been 100% forthright in communicating with him. The old "he should know how I feel" without actually spelling it out for him usually applies here. No MEN just don't get it sometimes unless you explain it, paint a picture, AND ask them to repeat it to you. I guess maybe I just get a little confused when the choices come down to...we either get married or break up. Which is usually shortly followed up by...we either have kids or get divorced. Maybe cause I'm a man I just don't get it.

I believe they "keep sending it over here" because drug addicts keep paying whatever price they charge in order to take their product.
But actually I think 90% of the opiate production of Afghanistan actually stays in Europe. I could be wrong but I think I'm right...I'll do a little research in the a.m. I'm off to bed. Later kids! -

I know you have stated before that we find the various suicide bomber's family and then exterminate their next of kin. Yes, I find the wanton murder of innocent people offensive Bendrr. It's as silly as the rest of mankind being held accountable for the so called sins of "Adam and Eve".
As I've mentioned in my previous posts radicalism is a leisure time pursuit. Look at the IRA. One of the major reasons for the tranquility in Ireland is that Ireland has been an economic powerhouse the past 10 years. Once upon a time rampant unemployment left youth with nothing else to do but get into trouble. Whereby those same "angry youths" now are too busy working making a difference in their lives to worry about hate.
Right now in the middle east people have no outlet for their frustration. Unemployment is rampant. They can not speak out against their respective governments to demand a VOICE in what goes on. When people have the tools in front of them to change their life and to lead fulfilling, successful lives they usually grab a hold of that. When they feel they have nothing to lose they make desperate, frustrated decisions. The west has been partially guilty in looking the other way at the human rights abuses of these regimes as long as the oil flows. To the average Saudi youth... this looks hypocritical don't you think? The unemployment rate for Saudi youth stands at around 32 percent. In 2004, one in every two Saudis was less than 15 years old, and an estimated 60 percent of the population is under the age of 21. The problem is only going to get worse not better.
The Saudi and other middle eastern countries also allowed radical clerics to thrive as long as they didn't threaten the government. These clerics knowing full well they couldn't rant against the emir, or king turned their hate filled rage towards the west and all it stood for. It's time those governments reign in the radicals. We also need to encourage the progressive and liberal wings of the Muslim faith. Women are the key here too. In the moderate Muslim countries the women are treated similarly to the way we treat women here in the west. Before the overthrow of the Shah women were lawyers, doctors, and teachers in Iran.
There will always be radical, insane fundamentalists in Islam...just like Eric Rudolph, Timothy McVeigh, and Terry Nichols represent a radical and insane fraction of Christianity. We need to make sure the progressive wing of Islam speaks for the Muslim faith. Not the radical fundamentalists. Just as it's an ever constant vigil to make sure people like James Dobson doesn't speak for the average Christian. By having a thriving and moderate Islam it negates the jihad mentality of the Muslim fundies.
But to really exert pressure on these regimes we cannot be willing partners in their human rights abuses by turning a blind eye while they send us oil. A Congress that passes an energy bill that has something more substantial than extending Daylight Saving's time by 4 weeks would be a start. It's pretty tough to carry a big stick when you are merely a drug addict going to his dealer like we do with oil.
Being an honest broker in the peace agreement between Israel and Palestine is also a must.
Do I have all the answers? No. But blowing up 1.5 billion Muslims really isn't an option. The Iraqmire isn't either. How many terrorists are being trained right now in Falluja? We still haven't secured Afghanistan. We simply installed a new government and called it success. That same government's own control doesn't exceed past the city limits of Kabul. So call me sceptical of this Administration yes. -

Parent sleeping with teenagers
by Fatfreek inan ex brother and i were talking recently and he recounted a bizarre story.
he too left the witneys some years ago, got a divorce, and the two children (both boys) decided to stay with his wife since she was still a jw.. one of his boys (never baptized a jw) confided in him not long ago about the sleeping arrangements after he left.
she told the boys that she was feeling depressed and lonely because of the divorce and turmoil that their apostate father had caused her and asked them (ages 15 and 16) to each alternate and sleep with her every other night.. it took lots of courage for this son to talk to his father about it since he wanted it off his chest.

I know his "Pat Bateman" schtick annoys some....well I admit....I think it's fun and unique.
So far I like him being here and enjoy reading his posts. Since Q is leaving us it's nice to have a Non-Dub join the board for perspective.
Various posters tend to develop a "voice" when posting. While his may be a little "car dealer-esque" it's unique. Welcome Pat. -
