  part of the problem is that he's unemployed right now, so i really can't afford to spend a lot of money.. part of the problem is that because he's unemployed right now, things have become kinda stressed between us two.. part of the problem is that tomorrow is our 27th wedding anniversary and it's tomorrow!!!!.

  i guess i lean more towards an agnostic point of view; though if asked, i will still identify myself as a christian.

  why, i'm not really sure if i'm honest with myself.

  it all boils down to how i feel about the earth and all of the inhabitants thereon.

It all boils down to how I feel about the earth and all of the inhabitants thereon. I cannot wrap my mind around the idea that the earth and everything on it is a by-product of an accident. There's just too much "vastness" - the universe is too big - the science of biology is too extensive. There just had to be a Creator. But who that creator is and/or what his plans are for mankind and the earth - well, now those are questions that I don't have answers for. But this didn't all happen by happenstance - that I can't buy.

  I can understand our collective experiences turning many away from religion as a whole. I don't know if I could ever imagine myself a "part" of another one in my life. But how do you discount a creator?

  a computerphobic friend of mine (seriously) wants me to sign her up on a few dating sites.

  she's inactive and not interested in going back, but imo would benefit from being with someone who understood the whole "borg" thing.

  is there such a thing?.

  I'm sure the reasoning at work was the same as the "brown paper bag your lunch" - they don't want any money going to the vending machine god's - that way you have more for the contribution box.

  there are a couple of christians at work and they chat amongst themselves about the times we are living in and the church meetings they have.

  the recent conversation is surrounding the power of satan.

  that he will set his will against you if you try and read the bible.

  Talked with Old High School buddy after 30 years - I apologized

  this was something i was wanting to do for a long time .

  i knew this friend as far back as elementary school, we played tennis together in high school , played music and sang together in his band a little.

  a very nice guy who i was close to until age 19. but because of my jehovah's witness upbringing it changed at 19.. long story short, although my witness parents allowed me to associate with this friend and other non-witness friends, in 1979, my then fanatic witness fiance laid the law down to me that we could not have any non-witness friends at our wedding.

  Congratulations Flipper. Glad to hear about your reconnection! In this age of Facebook and Myspace - it sure does make trying to find someone a lot easier. My personal experience is that I keep losing friends (of course they're all witnesses) - guess I should've had more non-witness friends back then.

  Want to Introduce myself....Hi everyone.

  hi all, i've been reading here for awhile and made a few posts before realizing i should probably introduce myself.

  it's so refreshing to read ppl's thoughts on these topics, which run deeply personal, and i've never been able to express myself freely, so thanks for such a great forum.. i was born and raised a dub, by my "spiritually single" mother (dad was an unbeliever..still is) me and my 3 other siblings all fell away before getting baptised, other than my older sis, who was df'd at 16. unfortunatley in my early 20's a sister "took an interest in me and we had a bible study for 2 years before getting baptized at 24.

  (what a regret) since then i floundered, flopped, got df'd a year later for dum, dum, dum..."fornication and then reinstated 9 months later.
