It might be a while before you feel like you're ready, so take your time. This is about YOU, your life, your marriage. The 'dishonesty' issue, put that way at the bottom of the pile, there's far more important things to consider including as you say, the pain that you and your family will feel. For now are you able to separate the 'game' you have to play from the life you want to live? Some people are able to exist almost completely on the outside of the organisation without ever getting themselves in a situation where they have to be shunned, and they find it's easier. Set yourself up - start working on your new life now. New friends, new interests.... mostly New Friends. You'll be glad to have other people in your life if it ever comes to that. Stop limiting yourself to the Approved Associates. There's a whole lot of love out there.

Hanging by a thread
by IMustBreakAway inexcept that instead of feeling like a thread it feels like a giant knotted iron cable pulling at my heart.
we are among the 5th generation of witnesses, my great grand mother went to rutherfords funeral, and being a witness has always been central in their lives.
i went to bethel like my brother, and uncles before me and sat at the same sewing machine that my grandfather had sat at when he was there.

Hey lovie, don't worry yourself about it, just be polite to her while she's still there. Grief is really something only the person going through it can get through. Czech Republic, yeah about as safe as anywhere, and it will be exactly what she wants - that's the important thing - she'll be thinking she's doing an important job for Jehovah, and will be feeling needed again. That's about all she's going to get out of life, short of as you know, one day leaving the cult and being left on her own. That's too much to ask of somebody in her situation. I think people like her are better off left alone. People are all different and she has to learn to get along with everybody, including, say, people like you. If you're feeling guilty about it, just use it as a lesson in mutual respect of the differences in people, and in the future you'll be that much more tolerant of small people.

Did you ever get any "Bad Advice" from Elders or Ministerial Servants?
by JH in.
i remember once, an elder told me that i could become a full time pioneer.
i was working 40 hours a week, and had a seasonal job 7 months a year.. the way he figured it out, i could work 8 hours during my day, then go to my meetings, and still find 3 or 4 hours to preach that same day...... i told him to go climb a tree.

Have you ever heard a Jehovah's Witness....
by Honesty in.
get upset when another jw says anything that might be interpreted as being disloyal to the faithful discreet slave?.
if so, did it make you feel uneasy?

Constantly, and I quickly learned to choose who I spoke my feelings to.

What do you believe now?
by NowImFree ini have been out of the jws officially for over 3 years now, since disassociating.
after researching the history of the organization and reading the bible (without) the watchtower, i am now a christian.
i am just curious what happens to most ex-jws as far as their beliefs go, after they leave the organization.

I'm officially out for a year, and at this point deciding my spirituality is not my highest priority, and I consider it more of a lifetime search. I'm keeping it simple, doing my best not to offend any potential God, and being a good wife and citizen.

Making progress
by schne_belly inso here is an update from a previous thread i posted about my parents, especially my mother.
last night, my husband and i were eating dinner at my parents house and all of sudden my mom whips out her bible and tells us to sit down because she wants to share some scriptures shes been researching.
come to find out about a month ago some elders stopped over at their house to talk to them about us, and how to deal with a disfellowshiped person.

Please help! I have NO idea what to do with this!
by Elsewhere inat work we are supposed to setup "goals" for a "performance review" later in the year.
i *hate* things like this because i don't understand what i'm supposed to put in the document.
it is far too subjective with no defined requirements that i can wrap my brain around.
