I think it's a marvellous story; and exactly what WBTS are afraid of! This is the brave new world. People want to look outside of their little containered life these days. WBTS can't stop it, it's a compelling desire.
I suppose I can only speak for myself and a lot of people here though. Those who stay might actually like their little lives. Whatever floats your boat.
sent a letter to mom 4 days ago, came back today stamped "returned" on it... she wouldn't even open it... it had some nice comments in it too.
stupid blanking cult, blinds the eyes of folks so they won't even read what we have to say.
Just send her a postcard (non-enveloped) that says "I love you mum!" She won't be able to help but read it. Nothing else is as important as that.
some questions i had when an individual was disfellowedshipped by a judicial committee: you may know of someone who could use some of this info.. i was used by this body and lied to concerning this case.
i did not serve on it.. what training did a certain elder have in matters of ethics / jurisprudence prior to sitting in judgment on the judicial committee?
new elder on the case.. did he come to his own conclusions in agreement or was he persuaded to change his decision based on peer pressure?

Last week I got a weird phone call that I thought was a telemarketer with extremely poor english who had somehow gotten my details. I told him to sod off and hung up, not really thinking about it. It turned out that he had a copy of the exam and wanted to sell it, and the uni knows, and they've recalled the exam. It's so irritating, because this unit was so lame that they can't possibly write another exam; they'd have to write another unit to find the material to test us on.
Today's exam was statistics, and I rocked baby! I'm hoping I'm up for my first HD.

a young man came in for his state vehicle inspection today and i noticed a nwt on the seat.
i asked him if he was a jw and replied yes.
he then asked if i was and replied i used to be but now am a full fledged apostate.

i was talking to my trying-to-exit-the-cult fraternal twin brother yesterday about life, the jehovah's witness cult, and our jw parents.. he repeated, calmly and succintly, that he hates our parents.
i could not argue with him.
i used to, being a parent myself.
WBTS is a breeding ground for mental instability; "sparing the rod" means different things to different people, and a mentally ill person takes it as permission to beat their kids to a pulp. Guess what; you can live really well without contact with your parents (I'm hoping that my poisonous mother leaves me alone eventually).
i have just gotten around to taking off last nights trowelling and what a relief that is!
i rarely wear make up - maybe once a month, so i probably go over board.

I'm not a makeup person. I used to get so peeved when a guy would say that he prefers women who don't wear makeup and then hook up with some tedious princess who slaps it on with a trowel.
I'm lucky, I'm in my perfect daggy job where I don't have to wear it. I'd probably do better in the world if I did, but not much. I'd be better off not being the office cynic. I wear makeup about three times a year, and since I have never really learned how to do it properly I think I don't ever get it quite right.
four congregations need to merge into two just to get some decent numbers.
a sister from my old hall called me a few weeks ago to let me know that the congregation was moving to another hall.
when i asked why they needed to move she said it was due to the fact that meeting attendance had diminished a lot in the past two years.
It's often about demographic changes; the young publishers grow up and move out (or leave, preferably), the young pioneers get older and start raising families, and then the vibe of the cong fades a lot. The once eager elders are older and over it. The 'single women' who used to have a lot of devoted clones around them find that they're basically on their own now. It's a little sad for them, but their own choice.
ok, lets say a witness goes up to an elder at the hall, and says, " what's going on" ???.
