he and i had started out as friends a few years ago, but realized that we were attracted to each other while he was going through his divorce earlier this year.

he and his now ex wife are both jws .

To him, it's you or them. Doesn't matter how much he loves you, for as long as he is a committed JW he will always feel a stronger compulsion to please the organisation and his family more than the need to be want you need from him. Decide now if that's what you want from life. Talk to him about it if you want, but don't kid yourself about where his priorities lie.

i can remember about 2 years before i exited the org i had a terrible dilema which didn't really have anything to do with my doubts in relation to doctrine.. the problem was hearing over and over and over about the fact that being in the org was 'the best place to be'.

that the brothers were 'true friends'.

didn't they have a video out called 'ypa - how can i make real friends?'.

Yeah I did often think 'and this is as good as it gets?' My childhood congregation was quite warm but when I started moving around I found that it was different everywhere. It slowly wore me down and made me very depressed - I could only choose my friends from within this very small circle and we just didn't have anything real in common.

i have been here only a while, but i do appreciate the place, i see there are many honest hearted persons here, that like me are good people, who help with the mirad of issues that arise from years of controling stresses from the jw.. many times i feel the flashbacks, when i read the thoughts of others, it helps alot to know there are others like me , i no longer feel so alone!.

i'm looking at the richmond and toronto apostafest pics and i'm longing for company.. it's been a really long time since i enjoyed good company and warm friendship.

even before we became inactive our friendships with witnesses had waned.. i really am very social.

"New Light" Not Waking People Up !!!

i have absolutely no idea how to get through to some people.... i mentioned the 1935 change to a jw, and told him that i'd seen the change coming... it was a logical progression, not a revelation from god to the fds.... his response ?.

"i've also had changes revealed to me before the fds makes the change, it just goes to show that jehovah reveals it to his people and that the witnesses have the truth.".

aaaaargh !!!!.

It's interesting that it's never just one thing that wakes a person up, it is the specific combination of things that will push their buttons. Of anybody, you'd know best what it would be for this person. The challenge is being able to get it all to them without their aposta-radar putting them on full alert.

Think about what it took to get through to you. When I do that, I can generally list ten or twenty things, and then I read another thread here and remember 'oh yeah, and that!'. I must have been particularly obtuse.

At the back of your mind remember that, believe it or not, they may in fact be better off and happiest right where they are. His life is his life. It isn't your life.

STOP THE MADNESS....where is this board going?

i've only posted since feb 07..but i have lurked for several years prior and there was usually something interesting on the board.

as i was reading the active topics list this morning, only a couple things jumped out at me as interesting...its been this way since the dgate and tgate incidents.... i was discussing this with a long time poster via im yesterday....does it seem to anyone else that so many of the topics are ...i dont know....odd...or different than they used to be...and i dont mean that in a good way.. i miss the newbies coming on and telling us their stories.... i miss the long time posters updating us on their lives post-borg... i guess with the recent uproar, the lurkers are hesitant to become newbies (cant say as i blame them now...we probably scared them off , and maybe the vets are just as hesitant...after all, someone went 2 years with their fraud/hoax...who will believe anyone else now?

i hope this is just a temporary cycle on this board..i have read many many posts from the archives...i hope one day soon we can get back to a happy medium here.. by the way, i like the fluff threads, but these seem to be more and more sex related (maybe that word will wake someone)... yet they get all the attention....and then someone goes too far and it gets locked down by a mod and the poster restricted......(i am not a prude...just sometimes enough is enough).

Giving them a little shake might help. Trying to give them a little shake, failing, and giving them another one will set off their aposta-radar, and they won't be your friend any more.
