  i guess my new-found freedom of personal expression is working its way down to my kids.. i came home from a crazy day at work, ate my dinner, was loading the dishwasher, when my 13-year-old son says, .

  "mom, i have something to tell you - i'm bisexual...i've been that way for a year now.

  i still can't help but have my old jw brain at work, thinking this is not okay - kind of like, i'm an apostate with a bisexual son...what will my family say?!

  Gotta put my 2 cents in. Due to movies, tv and internet--kids these days are learning a whole lot more about sex at a younger age than us older folks. Please have a very open and frank talk with your son about sex. He needs to know the seriousness of possibly catching a disease or getting a girl pregnant. And I have read instances where a girl became pregnant without 'going all the way' but just heavy fooling around.

  My son is almost 16 and very popular with the ladies at school. I'm not sure if he is a virgin or not--but my aim is not to judge his morality--my aim is to make sure that if and when he does have sex, hopefully he will follow my advice about using double protection, and that he keeps in mind that having sex with girls under 18 could land him a jail sentence if the girl's parents chose to pursue that course. Kids are going to do what they want to do when they are away from us, so I'm am a strong advocate for sexual education for young people.

  As far as the 'Bi' issue, just make sure he knows that you will love him and accept him no matter what--kids need unconditional love and support from their caregivers.

  That is so sad! I love my kids dearly, and I have stepchildren too. I would never turn my back on any of my kids.

  Recently Disfellowshipped

  i having been "lurking" around here for about a month--right when i was disfellowshipped actually.

  in a year long relationship--broke up-five months later had a bout of conscience and told on myself.

  myself and my ex are disfellowshipped and now most of my former group of "friends" are getting in trouble.

  Welcome! Wish you luck in your family situation, maybe in time some of your family will see the light about the JWs. It does hurt to be shunned and definitely is not the way Jesus treated people.

  actually i have a friend in mexico who wants a green card.

  i cannot see any purpose in marrying a very large, spanish speaking, gay man in order to get him a green card.

  but still he did learn to tell me he loves me in english.

  I hope you're not even considering it! You are tied to the person in many ways, legally and financially. They can wreck your credit and if they don't pay their taxes the IRS will come after you! Take it from a person who has 2 whacko exhusbands--don't do it!

  Yes, I remember this. That particular WT article said that they were now going to start counting the unborn fetuses of pregnant sisters. Of course, the sisters are supposed to provide proof of how many fetuses are growing inside of them - for accuracy. This will require a visit to the OB-GYN for an ultrasound. The reasoning behind this was that if the sister carrying the baby is going out in service, she is essentially "training" the unborn child "from before infancy." If she studies any of the recently released books, she can count those as "bible studies."

  Great sense of humor people!!! I have had my laugh for the morning. Every day I am soooooooooooo thankful I am not wasting time in that stupid religion. Sometimes I really shake my head that I was ever involved in it.

  I feel absolutely no nostalgia--only embarrassment that I used to go door-to-door, not knowing what was really going on behind closed doors in my religion that I was selling to others.

  In 2 years I think a couple JWs left a tract on my door. I see Mormons riding their bikes all the time--hardly ever see Witnesses except at the Lightrail station doing streetwork. Keep wondering about all the BS they used to tout about the great increase and how at the big A everyone would have heard the JW sermon and made their choice.

  Brooke--sounds like you could make money with your art talent.

  I am bored with my current job so I'm sending out applications to move up to the next level. I work for a state agency in California where our wonderful governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is trying to fix California's budget crisis by making us state workers take a cut in pay, pay more for medical benefits, ruin our retirement system, and a host of other delightful details. He was quoted at one time calling state workers 'evil', which I don't appreciate. I hate Arnie!!!

  Sorry I'll get off my soapbox now. I am hoping to attain a higher paying state job working closer to my home so keep your fingers crossed for me.

  My real job will start when I take an early state retirement at age 55. Then I will open my own business. I'm thinking maybe a snack wagon or something like that. Feeding people makes more sense to me than pushing papers around on a desk filled with government red tape.

  Welcome Amarantha! Wish you much luck in your difficult situation. I faded many years ago, have attended other churches, celebrate holidays, vote etc., but my active JW sister has not been shunning me nor have any elders tried to contact me. I think it's because my sister moved out of town years ago, and though she knows I celebrate holidays--she has no info about me attending other churches which is why I think she doesn't shun me. I'm also assuming that she has contact with me because we are the only siblings taking care of my elderly father, I have a feeling when he passes away she won't want to have much to do with me unless it's to preach to my kids.

  i have been reading over the forum today and something hit me.

  because i don't look up everyone's histories, there are people i assumed were either male or female--partly based on their avatar and partly based on the type of comments they make.

  well guess what folks--i was shocked to find out i was wrong about a few people.. does anyone else out there decide that certain posters are male or female, and then find out they're wrong?

  Anyone know names from Carmichael? I do remember one guy was disfellowshipped for molesting his niece in Carmichael--but I doubt if anyone called the authorities, but don't know the details and I can't remember his name.
