I don't believe mankind has ever been peaceful. In the US before 1914, people had firearms for protection against bad guys, Indians or whoever. The first 200 years of American history is filled with massacres, civil wars etc., as well as disease. So to me the 1914 date is a bunch of hogwash. Our modern lifestyle is way better than earlier times, well not every country like third world.

Christmas celebration in old days
by robhic ini seem to remember reading more than a few times how christmas was celebrated in the "old days" along with wearing the lapel pin with the cross & crown insignia.
seems christmas got the boot from rutherford but was celebrated for a while in brooklyn and even had some pictures from one of the parties.
problem is, i can't seem to find anything.

Scully--that's a great analogy. It's weird but even though I wish my sister would leave the JWs, at the same time--she has emotional problems and I worry that if she left it, she would end up in a mental institution. I think her little world is what holds her together.

Meat eating preditors will eat grass like a lamb!
by jimakazi ini am always a little pi***d when i see jw illustrations showing lions and tigers in the close vacinity of samll children, lambs and other meaty treats with no safety barriers.
[why this is paradise is beyound me - these anaimals smell].. so if we assume an intelligent creator, why would he create large meat eating preditors if he really ment them to eat grass?
every thing about their make up is about specialistation, from teeth, to jaws, to how their stomachs work.
