The only time I was upset when I found out someone was gay was because it was a guy I had a crush on! LOL

I used to have panic attacks sometimes when I was younger and involved in the JW religion. I was also extremely shy and introverted, which I am not now. The panic attacks seemed to be linked to agoraphobia, because when I felt self-conscious is when they would materialize. It happened when I gave talks on the Ministry school, when I commented, door-to-door, and having to speak in front of classmates in high school. I would breathe too shallow (the doctor told me that's what I was unconsciously doing) and my eyes would black out for a few seconds and I would get the shakes, it was sooooo embarrassing.
I read a book on Agoraphobia, and it gave me a lot of help. I concentrated on breathing deeply when I felt nervous, and saying quietly out loud or inside my head "Let it come" "Let it come" or "It's ok" "It's ok"--meaning let the panic attack come, and it seemed to calm my body and prevent a bad attack. I also noticed that anytime I had a fluctuation in my hormones--when I was going to start my monthly cycle, my nervousness would get worse around those times.
I haven't had an attack for years, but now and then I do still feel that nervous feeling in certain situations. I know some of it was related to how shy I used to be and self-conscious.

Welcome!
Your son sounds very intelligent. If you explain to him that JWs are still involved in Pagan practices in many many ways and that it doesn't make sense that they only choose certain things to avoid.
Examples: round cakes--Pagan wedding rings--Pagan Heart shape--Pagan
I can't think of more right now, maybe some other posters can help me out here.
Also learn as much as you can about CULTS and teach him to avoid them. Not celebrating holidays is just one way the JW religion uses to ISOLATE people from family and friends. That is a CULT tactic to isolate people.

Whenever I see single dads raising their kids, my opinion of them goes WAY WAY UP--even if I don't know them. Kids need both parents, I find it appalling (did I spell that right?) that so many parents walk away from their responsibilities.
I was a single mom of 3 kids for many years. My children have not seen their dad in about 10 years. Unfortunately, I had to take custody/visitation rights away from him due to his domestic violence and drug abuse issues. I had no family to help me out, so it really sucked that I didn't even get breaks on the weekends or have any time to myself. Especially--there was a time when my oldest was too young to leave at home with the other two, so I had to drag all 3 kids to the grocery store or other errands at night after work.
The good news? My kids are now 19, 17 and 13 and all doing great! I get to reap the rewards of my hard work by having a good relationship with my kids and they respect me because I always took good care of them. They do not respect their dad and feel a lot of hurt and anger toward him.
When my son was in Little League Baseball for 7 years, I can count on ONE hand the games I missed all those years. Since so many dads were involved, I couldn't stand the thought of my son looking at the stands and not seeing one of his parents rooting for him--I feel really good about that.

You guys are funny!
I would want my metabolism to speed up whenever I eat too much or eat junk food!!! Then I wouldn't have to worry about my weight.
And I would eradicate the possibility of having repetitive motion syndrome--I have tendonitis in my arms from typing too much over the years.

Am I Being Silly?
by love2Bworldly ini have always loved accents, whether they're british, irish, scottish, australian, whatever.
i think they're so cute.
i have always wanted to date someone with an accent (of course they have to have a lot more than the accent going on).. now that i am to be divorced soon, i keep thinking next time i date (won't be for a while--i am just daydreaming about what i want) i want to meet someone with an accent.. since i don't have a lot of money to travel to other countries, am i just being silly?.
