PEER PRESSURE!!! I gave in to Pioneering during August...I feel dirty...
by stuckinarut2 inok, i'll admit it...i am weak.... as everyone knows, the pressure to "pioneer" during "the most momentous, awesome, amazing, centenary anniversay of jesus invisble kigdom rule, & distribute tracts about a dodgy website" campaign is very strong at the moment.... also, many will have read my threads about the extreme views and expectations in our cong for "all appointed men to pioneer" etc..... every elder and ms and their families have been announced as pioneering....i mean everyone's name was read out except mine..... i was not going to do it, as i do not believe anyone should be forced...(and of course its the last thing on earth i would rather do anyway since learning ttatt).
but i am not quite ready to make the break yet, so i realised that i would stand out more if i didnt put in a form to pioneer.
yes it would make me more conspicious, and make fading harder to do...it would bring more heat on me if i didnt pioneer.. so i gave in and submitted a form.... now, of course, i'm only going to make sure i'm seen at the key field service groups etc...but then go and do something more interesting...like count blades of grass..... ahh....i feel hypocritical to myself now......

Here's an idea-- spend the hours you count anti witnessing toward your pioneer hours!

Athiests: Do you ever wonder... what if?
by toweragent ini'll start by saying, i'm a ministerial servant who is trapped in the religion.
my wife is hardcore...but i've slowly been getting her to lighten up, so i'll take it!
all my friends and family are jw's, and i am employed by a jw (who is actually a great boss).

Well I think no one really 100% knows for sure and that's a fact. I believe there is something out there but don't believe it's one almighty God. After watching the history channel a lot, I am more and more convinced that there are higher beings-- you can call them aliens, angels whatever, have influenced things on earth over the years-- such as unexplainable things like the pyramids being built, stonehenge, etc. I believe that it could be aliens that humans have had contact with over the years, but humans explained it as God, angels etc.

If You Can Get Out Of The Jehovah's Witness Religion---DO IT!
by minimus ini realize some people feel they can't just leave the religion.
they have family, friends, position.. some elders mistakenly believe that they might be able to reform the cult from within.
the truth is, the religion is never really going to change.

I agree-- life is way too short to live a lie, I couldn't respect myself if I had to put on such a false front-- not downing anyone else for doing it, just saying I couldn't do it.

Name Some Things That JWs Look Down Upon That Normal People Wouldn't Even Think About?
by minimus injws look down on others for saying, "bless you" if someone sneezes.
it has something to do with the demons.
another example is that it is considered satanic if a man took his hat off for a lady!

Minimus-- I forgot about the stupid "stumbling" thing. I used to get SOOOOOOOOOOOOO sick of people saying anything a person said or did or liked was a possible stumbling block to the congregation.

Need a Game Plan
by bafh ini'm not sure what is going on at the convention, but i just got a desperate call from a friend wanting me to attend sunday's morning session.
last weekend, my mom invited me too.instead of saying something like, "i'm sorry, but i have no intention of going back," and having them completely freak out - i agreed to go to the sunday morning session.
any recommendations?

Have you thought about joining Toastmasters? Might give you more confidence-- I think that's what you need is some self confidence.

Ok I feel better now, you had me worried. Well, try the meds and see if they work. I'm on meds for bipolar-- meds don't fix everything but they can make life tolerable. Be patient with finding the right meds that work, sometimes you have to try more than one. You may only need them temporarily until you feel better.

Bafh-- I'm worried about you making comments like that. Have you thought about seeing a therapist? You sound at your wits end. Hope you feel better soon. I just wish I could say something to encourage you.

If there was a pill that could open their eyes - would you give it to them?
by truthseeker inif there was a pill you could give to your jw family members that would awaken their eyes to the truth about the cult, would you give it to them?.
most would probably say yes.. but what about those who are completely institutionalized, the elderly, the super zealous, the geeky kids who have no friends, the misfits?.
some people need "boundaries", they need someone to lead and give them directions, they need a sense of belonging, even in an organization that has no social programs.

My answer for my sister is no. She is mentally ill and I think if she found out or realized it was all lies, she would fall apart. So even though I miss being able to talk to her, I would not burst her little bubble-- she is too fragile.

Wow, a real eye opener. I had no idea they allowed so many different things. I'm thinking about mailing a copy of this article anonymously to my JW sister.
