Enjoyed your information from this standpoint--there are lurker JWs who secretly read this website and I hope they read your post. The JWs are pretty good at their brainwashing methods, however.

Must Read!
by Non-JW inas a jehovah's witness you have been taught from the bible and the watchtower organization.
instead, you must trust what it tells you about its own false prophecies.
the watchtower organization tells you what to think and what to do.

What did they all do on "worldly holidays" when you were home alone?
by LongHairGal ini always hated being alone on thanksgiving or christmas.
what bothered me was that if it were known you accepted an invitation by relatives it was frowned upon.
but what got to me was this: is god more pleased that i am home looking at four walls alone rather than being over somebody's house??

I'm finding this thread rather amusing. If you really stop and think about it, most JWs do celebrate holidays--they just do it a little differently from other people.

They have screwed-up ideas about forgiveness
by LongHairGal inthis was another issue i had with them.
no matter what someone did, no matter how bad and even if the person was dfd and came back some would welcome them with open arms.
it was almost as if they were being rewarded for their wrongdoing.

I am sickened by people who are judgemental toward single women who have babies. (I used to be guilty of it myself as a JW, I'm very sorry to admit.) So many millions of men are also guilty of 'sex outside of marriage'--yet only the women who become pregnant are the ones who are the scapegoats.

Compiling List-Trivial Items People Are Counseled Against
by love2Bworldly ini hope this is not a repeat of past threads and i hope to get a lot of response.
i am compiling info of how people are treated within the wts.
i just read the post about a person being counseled for having baby shower games.

I am speechless at some of this stuff. This is mind-boggling. Thanks for all the great responses and the humor too! My husband who knows nothing about the Witnesses is shaking his head at this stuff, he can't believe it.
Of course you know the answers out of the WBTS would be "well people are just imperfect, the WBTS does not condone such behavior" or whatever to cover up this foolishness. Since there are a lot of JW lurkers out there which includes the GB, you would think they would do more to protect the reputation of the JWs and counsel people against judging their 'brothers', or at least care about the fact that millions of people are having low self-esteem and depression issues. Maybe if they cared more about their so-called flock's well-being, JW's would have more time and energy to preach; they would spend less time either downgrading/berating others, or less energy feeling bad about themselves. Mind you, not that I want others to be converted to this Cult religion.

Are You Still Stuck In The Moral Panic trap?
by Englishman injust curious..now that you're an exjw, do you think that the world is a good place or an evil place to be?.
or are you screwed up about asylum seekers and other perceived threats to your security?.
i tend to always err towards optimism generally.

I feel conflicted at times. Now that I am out in the 'world', I've come to realize that there are a lot of absolutely wonderful, caring people who exist that are not JWs. But on the other hand, there is a great deal of evil and evil people. I am struggling with my belief in a higher power, because sometimes it is just mind-boggling how much people suffer in countries where there is not enough food or clean water or where there is a constant war zone going on and political unrest.

Dad (elder) called yesterday.
by Es inhi all.... i have not spoken nor seen my dad for about 3months now after he would not allow me to borrow cds for my up and coming wedding to a "worldy guy" because borrowing his cds means he would be supporting my mariage.
even tho the relationship between my mum and i is now strained as a result she still keeps in contact and suggested that we all meet at the shops one day for lunch so dad could see my son.
i agreed as i felt it would be nice for my son to see his pop again...but also was a little upset as dad hasnt gone out of his way to see my son.

My sympathies are with you, I would be mad and upset too. I think Blondie has a point, you may think about telling him that if he wants to have contact with his grandson that he can at least show manners to you as an example to your son. It's your house he's calling so you call the shots.

What an interesting feeling!
by cruzanheart inabout a month or two ago, i spent a week feeling incredibly sad.
i cried at the drop of a hat and was very, very sad -- about what i didn't know.
(and, no, it wasn't "that" time of the month.

I'm happy for you.
Sometimes I feel people's anger and/or sadness coming through their posts, and I truly hope each person who has left the JWs eventually finds peace within themself. It took a long time for me to shed the cloud over my head that any minute Jehovah was going to strike me with lightning for leaving his 'organization'.

Good thoughts
by talesin in.
15 things you probably never knew or thought about 1. at least 5 people in this world love you so much they would die for you.. 2. at least 15 people in this world love you in some way.. 3. the only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.. 4. a smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.. 5. every night, someone thinks about you before they go to sleep.. 6. you mean the world to someone.. 7. if not for you, someone may not be living.. 8. you are special and unique.. 9. someone that you don't even know exists loves you.. 10. when you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.. 11. when you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most likely turned your back on the world.. 12. when you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you believe in yourself, probably, sooner or later, you will get it.. 13. always remember the compliments you received.
forget about the rude remarks.. 14. always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know.. 15. if you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are great.
