  Christmas not Xmas!

  It is like saying that what happened on that day wasn’t important. Jesus the Savior is born and that is what it really is about

  THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I AM SAYING!!

  If you haven't noticed yet, allow me to point out the obvious: NOT EVERYONE HERE BELIEVES IN CHRIST!

  Believe it or not beyond your little world there are many many people who have differing views on who Jesus Christ really is.

  I find it offensive when people wish me "Merry Christmas" because I am NOT CHRISTIAN. I am not interested in Jesus being my lord and savior... I don't believe he is. If you do, that is great... more power to you... but dont tell me not to call "christmas" xmas cause it takes away from the "importance" of that day...

  Christmas or Xmas has different meanings to different people. Society is constantly evolving; it's holidays and meanings with it.

  I don't celebrate Christmas... why? Cause I don't see the point in celebrating the birth of a 2000 year old carpenter.

  I celebrate xmas because I enjoy giving gifts to my family and friends.

  So yes, I will continue to "X" christ out of it

  Got a letter from my parents...

  well, yesterday evening was a little too emotional for my liking... .

  i got home to find an envelope in my mailbox from my mom and dad... (i was df'ed 4 years ago and haven't spoken to them since) .

  my sister's wedding announcement...she got married earlier this month.

  Well guys, yet again I am blown away by the support and good advice that I have seen here... I am telling you there is more love on this board then I have ever felt in any kingdom hall!

  I have some to two conclusions:

  1) I am going to send a card and some flowers to my grandmother,

  2) I am going to write a letter to my parents explaining how very difficult it was for me to receive their letter. I am going to tell them that I have no interest in "returning to the fold" and that by reminding me what I am missing out on they are only further convincing me how disgusting this cult-like organization is.

  3) I am also going to send a congratulations to my sister and express my grief in not being able to share this special say with her.

  Thank you again for your support and suggestions and I will let you know what happens next!!

  After leaving the org I tried to explain my sitution and what my family was feeling/thinking to some of my friends as a means of moral support... (an oulet!) but they just dont get it.

  To me, it is really great to be able to talk about JW issues with people who understand EXACTLY what you mean. You can't understand JW's untill you have been one.

  Plus you guys are pretty funny!!

  I think that is exactly what I am going to do... send my grandmother a card and some flowers... I dont know if she would appreciate a visit but I want her to know that I haven't forgotten her despite my family's desperate attempts to forget me...

  I wonder what their reaction will be when I get married and an invitation arrives in their mailbox...

  Thanks for all your kind words...

  I do agree that in time I might be glad to have this small token... but for the moment, it just seems like a hurtful thing to do...although at the moment I can't concentrate on anything but worrying about my grandmother... I have been thinking alot about her in the last little bit and I had a feeling something wasn't right... but I had done a good job of convincing myself I was just being paranoid... turns out I should listen to my instinct... the question is what to do now...

  What did it contain? My sister's wedding announcement...she got married earlier this month. Needless to say I was crushed. I knew she was getting married my dad had e-mailed me to let me know, but he never told me when/where etc. Why did they have to rub it in like that? I mean I knew I wouldn't be invited but geez... sending the invitation after the wedding is over... a little harsh no?

  Not only that but they also wrote a short letter telling me that my grandmother was not able to make the wedding because she was in the hospital. Apparently she has been in and out of the hospital for the last couple of months and her condition is getting worse... I haven't seen her since I moved out of home 4 years ago. I fear the next time I see her will be at her funeral.

  *sigh* having a rough morning...

  what sort of topic 'grabber' attracts you to read further?.

  i have noticed that there are definite patterns in who visits what thread.. also, how frequently do you dip back to where you posted to see iff anyone has replied?

  I tend to stay away from the ones that are debating prophecy/dogma... I did enough of that as a witness...

  I like reading the experiences of others ; moral debates and of course the funny ones!

  The Bible is vastly superior to the Koran. The Koran is a book of myths, fables and fairy tales.

  LOL... sounds to me like the Koran and the Bible should be in the same section in the library.... FANTASY!
