How did you spend the memorial?
by sinis inpersonally, i stayed at home (my wife went), made steaks, drank beer, and watched several vulgar/demonic movies in the world of the jw's (halloween, the eye, hitman, no country for old men, saw iv).
i later went over to my mother in laws house to meet up with some other in laws - who i saved from the jw's - and talked about how the memorial was a waste of f@cking time... then drank more beer waiting for my wife to come back...

As someone who started "dating" at about 12... (behind my jw's parents backs! hehe) I would say that if you don't "allow" your teenager to date with your knowledge, you take a great risk that they are going to do it behind your back.
I don't think it is appropriate for young teens (12-16ish) to be dating without supervision. But I wouldn't tell a teen at that age they aren't allowed to date because that only gives most teenagers more reason to do it! Instead I would make sure to have very clear conversations about the difference between getting to know someone, (ie dating) and having sex. There is nothing really wrong with teenagers dating but I do see a major problem with sex at that age. At that age, I would say definetly dating in groups or with a chaperone would be the best.
I dated the same guy from grade 8 (13-14) till I was 21, we started having sex when I was 17 and that was still too early...
I have a 7 week old daughter and I am dreading her teens already! lol

WOW!!! HOLD THAT THOUGHT!!! Who are we kidding here? :-)
BEST place to visit in Canada is Montreal!! (or Quebec City is pretty fabulous too!) Among the 5 largest french speaking cities in the world! AND it looks like we are going to get a spot on the new monopoly board! Home to the MONTREAL CANADIANS!!! Best team in the NHL!
If you are coming in the summer it is AWESOME... festivals... Jazz fest, Comedy fest... plus they block off St Catherine's (main street downtown) to cars and make it a giant sidewalk! Plus the old port... omg!
Check it out: http://www.tourisme-montreal.org/B2C/00/default.asp
There is the fablulous Casino, Biodome, Montreal Museum of Fine Art, Old Port, Olympic Stadium, Pepsi Fourm (Old home of the MTL Canadians).... the list goes on and on!
There is "La Basilique Notre-Dame de Montreal" http://www.basiliquenddm.org/ worth going to see.. beautiful! !!
Needless to say I love MONTREAL!! lol

Thanks for all the input... it's true... I never thought of my parents as a damaging influence... I guess I still think that is me! lol
You are all 100% correct though... a relationship with them would be putting my daughter at risk... there is nothing or nobody in this world worth risking my own relationship with her!
Thanks again... much appreciated!! :-)

what did you get dissfellowshipped for and were you once "strong"
by looloo inin the truth (as they say) were people really shocked at you leaving or thought of it as only a matter of time !

Like most young ppl who get disfellowshipped... fornication... lol
Funny, it still sounds bad when u say it like that!
I was 3rd generation witness... MS father, reg pioneering older sister, PO Uncle... had parts on assemblies since I was 7-8ish... on the ministry school when I was 5... aux pioneered when I had time off in high school... you know, one of those families that shows up 30mins early for each meeting, sits in the front... helps the spiritually "weaker" families...yup it was a shocker!
I saw one of the elders who was on my JC in a resturant once (i was with my co-fornicator) he sat down at a table with his wife, hung his head... whispered with her for a few minutes and left!! I couldn't believe it... guess I should have showered! lol

If the grandparents want to be part of your baby's life, then they have to include you too. If they are going to disrespect you by shunning you and excluding you, then they don't get to see the baby.
That is what bugs me... I mean they will sit in a room with me and make small talk but only to see her... aside from the religious differences my parents and I have unresolved issues to deal with that I have tried to approach them with and everytime they just ignore me! how can I let them back into my life when they are unwilling to deal with the past?
At the same time, I won't want to be the reason my child has no relationship with her grandparents... it is a real predicament!

Aude - hey! yeah, life got a little crazy! Broke up with my ex finally! Had the guts to move out on my own... met a wonderful man who fufills and surpasses all my expectations! We got married in Aug 07 and had our first little girl, feb 07-08. :-)
Carla, thanks for the advice... I told my husband I wasn't too comfortable with them being alone with her... I don't know what they will tell her... I mean it must be confusing for a little kid to try and understand why mom doesn't talk to her mom?!!! At least she will have my husband's parents!

Well... they don't really talk to me... this is the first time I have seen them in two years... since the last funeral!
They were only in the same room as me to see her...
