How do you feel about funerals?....would you want one?

i find funerals and wakes morbid and horribley depressing for all involved.

i just recently attented a celebration of someone's life, after their death.

it was wonderful.

The best funeral I've ever attended was in Alaska. The "guest of honor" requested bag pipe music and lots of eating and socializing. He was well know throughout central Alaska so there were tables full of all kinds of food from various cultures, even native Alaskan! There was a real feeling of fellowship amongst many many strangers that became friends just from this one occasion. transitions are to be celebrated, not morned, IMHO. carmel

..Your Best Bargain!..

i`ve got a nice gym up here at the ranch..rows of dumbells.a few barbells.lots of free wieghts..and..a few machines.....my hand is healed up from being crushed in the ranch gate and i wanted to get back to working out.....i needed a new bench press.something a little more up to date..so..i headed for civilization......canadian tire had a nice one for $149.95..walmart had one better for $89.95..$89.00 for a bench of that quality??

!..........so..i went and got a shopping cart,so i could put the boxed up bench press,in it..i went to pick up the box..i could barely lift it!..it was like it was bolted to the floor.....was i so out of shape from not working out,i couldn`t lift the bench i wanted to exercise on???..lol!

!.....i managed to get the box waist high and almost into the cart..but not quite..the box is resting on the edge of the shopping cart and moving away from me..now i`m chasing a shopping cart down the isle trying to get the frigg`n box into it.i looked like an idiot!..lol!

$10 for a complete set of golf clubs with bag, three dozen qulity golf balls. The garage sale was on its last day and it was starting to rain and everything went for whatever you offered. I really wasn't in the market for a set of clubs, but blurted out "ten bucks" and the guy said "get it outa here before I change my mind"! Don't get to play very often , but hey, I can't complain..... carmel

Definitions of Faith

i just had an interesting conversation, though frustrating, with a student about the subject of faith.

i have never heard a definition for faith that i could understand.

every conversation i have had on the subject has only fallen short of establishing what it is.

...faith is believing you have accurately connected the dots...and dots are usually subjecive tidbits that may or may not have positional logicality. carmel

my mother is studying with the baptists.

it's her 2nd weekly study with a woman about her age, and today she told me this.. "did you know that those that have "accepted christ", have the same dna?.

then i told her, where did you see that?

The Folly of Calculating the Date of the End from the Bible

i have seen various ways of calculating dates from the bible.

the one the tower uses is the seven times, based on incorrect lengths of the year and faulty dates.

however, i have been seeing various posts right here on this forum (i will not mention any names since all i want is to expose the folly of predicting the end, not start or continue a flaming war).. i have been seeing calculations based on the number of books in the bible.

Not only can you not predict when the thief will appear, he can be there and leave and you'll not even know it after the fact, unless of course, you realize something is missing! carmel

i try to share my love with everyone who will respond to it, even my dog deserves my affection!

i also love those who cannot respond, the starving and unfortunate and my love moves me to offer some small assistance.

this is the love that moves me to try and improve life now instead of waiting for another life to come.. i have become aware that truly knowing myself and understanding my fellowman is a journey i may never complete but that is the way i will find peace and happiness.
