While living in Israel we had JWs come to our door twice in four years, but almost every day at the beach one could find dubbies peddling yellow rags or attempting to. It was technically illegal, but tolerated by the population. One time we were just arriving to the beach in mid afternoon when we saw three of them being escorted to their car by the police. Apparently someone complained and they were booted off the beach but not arrested. carmel

Jehovah's Witnesses in Israel
by Honesty inhttp://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/969459.html.
accusing the witnesses of targeting society's weaker elements, including new immigrants, the poor and the handicapped, critics blast what they call the group's devious recruitment methods.
"they've mapped out all of israeli society and then target segments that don't get attention elsewhere," said cohen.

Who has lost faith?
by logic&reason ini am curious about who (after leaving) went on to other religions vs. lost faith completely.
once i started questioning the wt society, i began to question everything.
as jw's we are taught from childhood up that other religions are false - so it seems easy, after elliminating the last one, to be rid of religion altogether.. .

My formal education in hard science forced me to apply the same principals to my experiance with religion. Just because all my experiances with religion were less than satisfactory, I had to resist the temptation to condem ALL religion as I had not experianced ALL religions. Just as we make hypothesis in science yet we remain open to new data. For those that have closed down their minds to the possibitliy that religion is something more than what they have experianced to date, is a sad condition. But then, closemindedness is common in lots of spheres of life. carmel

Good for you for finally popping the pimple. Lancing the boil and voiding the mental pus is a relief to the body and soul! Two thumbs up to you 74!!! carmel "out in 58"

For those that have never experianced a "logical religion" the answer would likely be no! But, if you realize that mysticism exists outside of religion then it reduces the argument against pointing the finger at religion because of its metaphysical elements. carmel

Sex and JWs I want to know what you think "he played the God Card"
by jonie ini was a jw but left about 8 years ago, my husband wanted to go back so we have tried, i did not do so good.
being gone so long just helped me realize this is totally false, i look at the jws as lambs being lead to their deaths.. fast forward to now, we are both in our 40s and i have had medical side effects from using birth control and other meds as birth control.
my body can not take anymore, i have suffered breast cyst and uterus cyst, so i asked my husband who has an issue with using condoms because he does not reach a climax, and has to masturbate, to use something that would offer us a permanent result such as him getting a vasectomy.. his reaction is like why i feel even more strongly that jws are wrong.

Tying off the vas deferens is less of an operation than removal of the foreskin, which the JWs embrace wholehartedly... For the record, vasectomies do not produce gays. I've had the little buggers blocked for the last twenty five years and I can assure you I have no desire to change my orientation... Good luck. Wish I could be more help. carmel

What's more important, the hagiographical renderings of miricals or the beatitudes He taught? What practical value do miricals have? Lazarous is still dead, but Jesus' teachings have positively influenced many millions of lives. carmel

Slices of time
by choosing life inthink what it felt like to be a youth, learning to love, raising children, getting older and a little wiser, whatever you've experienced.
what if we could be in all slices at once?
would we be living inside of time or outside?.

If there is such a thing as "ONE TRUE RELIGION...
by JH inif there is such a thing as "one true religion", then lots of good honest god loving people will die at armageddon.. although jw's don't gamble, chosing the correct religion, if there is one, is a gamble.. .

Yes! Religious truth is relative and manifest over history as different reflections of the same light! All mirrors gather dust over time and cease to reflect the purity of the light. That we have dusty mirrors (dust is collective egos) for the most part to observe, many of the opinions expressed above are warranted. carmel

Got up early to prepare the living room for Elvis. He still lives and my all black Johny Cash outfit just the ticket. Thinking about building an appropriate mansion for Johny and Elvis to occupy, course I get sleep overs until they come to occupy...... Hmm,,missed 50 Jesus rejection events... I'm toast! carmel
