Yep! Moved to a neighboring town to attend college. Moved to a different state to teach school. Moved to another state to change careers. Moved to Alaska to advance my career. Left the company, started another career. Moved to another country to "serve where the need was great". Moved back to the us to care for grandson and re-start career three. Will likely move again in two years to do as I dam well please!
Moving is not only exciting it helps one to shed a lot of baggage, both literal and mental. New places, new cultures, new friends add emensely to your world view and sense of accomplishment. I'm looking forward to exploring western Australia, Tasmania, East Africa and Malaysia. I expect to have an airline ticket and an updated passport in hand when I fall dead.

let's say.......there is no god, the bible is not inspired by god........ but.
what is written is being played out.. is what is written being played out?.
why don't we change the future?.
You might consider that the whole notion of "armegeddon" has more interpretations than that itterated by the Watchtower and other fundamentalist Christing groups. That said, I beleive is over and most of the world missed it!

without attacking anyone for their beliefs, feel free to state what you believe in right now.. personally, i still believe in a higher power, a creator, call him jehovah if you wish, a god that will put things back right eventually.

I like math, propagating, analyzing, experimenting, and soft noses of baby goats, but that doesn't represent a heirarchy of importance.

when i left the witnesses, a person from work gave me a video about the witnesses that his church uses.
i thought it would be interesting, so i set down and watched it.
what i found was another example of one church taking about another, to then counter with points that support their way of thinking.
I can remember when I had just left the Borg as a teenager going to various "Christian" churches trying to sort out what I wanted to "be". When ever I mentioned I was brought up a Jdub I'd always get a response that would include significant distortions of their doctrins and beliefs. As a teenager, I was often scoffed at when I would try to correct their misconceptions. Afterall, they heard it from the pastor!!
I think it is true that many members of many religious sects are insecure in their beliefs and are constantly wanting to be re-assured by seeing new recruits "come into the fold". It's claimed to be for "saving souls" but I doubt any proseltyzing would go on if it wasn't connected to either financial stability of the congregation or an ill-thought-out need to be part of a "winning strategy".
That being said, my personal take on my own faith is that growth is linked to reaching a "critical mass" that will have an effect on society at large. So living by a standard is not just for personal salvation but directly linked to the betterment of all society at all levels.

how did you get to the point where you are at now?
was it primarily new information that made you rethink religion and god?
learning about the ice age, the universe, the fossils out there?
Having gone through a long period as an agnostic, I can look back and see how logical it was to question the whole nature of God/notGod thinking and end up hands in the air in frustration. The only honest position was to "not know". Any belief system based on the JW biblical paradigm would certainly lead one to doubt the existence of "God" once one woke up to the silliness of it all. For me, I had to abandon the whole biblethink to see religion and the deity in a completely different light to be able to "believe" again.

well, the hard, rusty gears of theocratic justice has begun to turn, and the teeth have caught me.
for those of you who read my earlier threads, in february of 2005, a "sister" i had known for almost 30 years contacted me and wanted to know what i had learned in the years since i had faded.
after granting me full assurance of confidentiality, in writing, i disclosed to her the un scandal.
Why is your "freedom" contingent up the actions of the elders? Do you need to be DF'd to be free? Sounds to me you are enslaved beyond the obvious.

I don't normally reference the bible, but the beatitudes as iterated by Jesus are a pretty good start. Another might be the virtues common to all cultures.

i'm currently reading richard dawkin's book the ancestor's tale and it suddenly struck me that evolutionists believe all men are equal seeing that we all came from a common ancestor.
that being the case, would it not serve man to believe in evolution?.
turn on the t.v.
Is evolution the answer? Nope! Course, it depends upon what the question is. If its whether or now humans are "equal" being the same species doesn't make us "equal". Some are midgets, some are giants, some have six fingers, some are perfectly porportioned with hidden genetic defects or propensities that manifest themselves when triggered by certain environmental ques. Equality itself has to be defined before one makes the leap of "faith" that any ism or world view is "thee answer".

this past week i came back to work after being gone a week for my brothers funeral.. my human resource person comes drooping in where i am sorting though stuff to deliver for the day and says she needs to talk to me......i said ok.......how about now?.
i go in her office and she sits and i sit......she says ......your job is going to change......and tells me the two things that are going to change.. she says nothing like good morning ......how are you today......glad you are back blah blah blah!
she is the first person i see and speak with after being out a week for a funeral.. besides all that .....what was changing was based on misinformation from the person that does my job while i was gone.......who was fired yesterday btw......but that is another story.. i was talking to another person about how this all went down and i said ......we have to always sharpen our skills to deal with the inadequite way our superiors handle things.
well we were the Jonadab class afterall!
Glad to see you are sounding better purps!
