  Have you ever tried explaining judicial committee to a non-witness?

  i have, and i honestly don't seem to be getting the repercussions across.

  my parents and siblings are not witnesses, so when i told them about the jc letter arriving, they just shrug their shoulders and say "so what?

  have you ever had that experience?

  I feel like I must have been in a fog the entire time I was a dub. I had no idea about what happened in JC's until I came to this board and started reading experiences. It's appalling.

  I have tried explaining JW doctrine, world view, and practices to non-dubs and the reaction was like GBL related. They'd either look at me with total incomprehension or they'd get angry and pretty much ask how I could be a part of such a messed up bunch of crap. Wish I'd have been able to see it that way before I wasted so much of my life on it.

  I sat in the overflow room. I chose it because it conveniently has it's own door (one assumes they put it in so DF'd folks could sit back there and swiftly exit at the end of the meeting). I couldn't concentrate on the public talk at all. I sat there in my own little world, tuning out the guilt fest coming from the platform. As soon as they started the song, I stood up and made my exit with several others who also couldn't force themselves to sit through another mindless Watchtower study.

  I can remember the sense of relief that washed over me as I got in my car and pulled out of the parking lot for the last time. Aaaah, sweet freedom.

  Glad you liked it. I loved the first three (mostly), but am not a prequel person so I haven't seen these latest three yet. I think I'll wait for the boxed set on DVD.

  Tour de France

  i've been following the tour since 1985 and am looking forward to this year's tour.

  armstrong could possibly break his own record of six wins (consequitive) and retire with seven wins in-a-row.

  thus far, only indurain has managed even five in a row (1991-1995).

  I enjoy watching it too. Although, I don't have extended cable anymore, so I don't think I'll get the extended coverage I was able to watch last year. darn.

  The world will end in 1879-1914-1918-1925-1942-1975- I guess they gave up

  forget about all those dates friends--the world ended in 1914--thats what rusell said--he was the first slick slave class--so he must know--did i miss some dates?

  there are so many i probably missed a few--i was in this nonsense for 32 years and i half way believed it--but i never believed it 100 percent--thank god for ray franz---that guy was all class--i am at a point now that i dont know what to believe--but i know one thing--:"never again will i fear men----never again will i be a respector of men---i have seen all this little so called power grab called privleges--that is just a ticket for a man to walk around like a rooster---you all know how a rooster walks around the yard--when i used to get there on thursday night all 8 elders would be walking around shuffling paper like they do at the pentagon or the cia---a congreation of about 70 and all this paper work--or was it all a showy display?it was a peivlege to clean the toilets--can you imagine that?

  i used to go to clean the hall and it didnt even need cleaning--but one had to act like he was doing something--i used to hate getting dressed up for those 5 meetings--i now wear anything i want--i let my hair grow anyway i want--if i want a beard i grow it--no more fear of those big elders--those elders loved judical comittes--it meant they could now be like a lawyer and a judge--power- power--thats what its all about--thanks for letting me share--the hag

  I agree, hubert. They need dates or at least time frames in order to whip the R&F into a foaming fury of zeal and activity. It gives the dubs purpose and lights a fire in their bellies when they know the Big A is "coming soon". Brooklyn has learned to be more crafty, though. Can't come out and actually print anything concrete, just hint around, so they can back away from it later and blame further disappointments on those over zealous brothers and sisters who have foolishly done what the WTS wanted them to run on ahead of mother.

  Was The Ministry Ever Rewarding To You?

  In the very beginning it felt rewarding...even though I was petrified to knock on doors and bother people. I thought that over time, my feelings of doing something worthwhile and important would only increase and that I'd learn to love service. It was Jehovah's direction, right? We had the angels hovering over our shoulders, didn't we? That's not what happened, though. The "ministry" didn't get easier to engage in, it got harder for me. Even telling myself that I was spending quality time with the "friends" began to pall. Most of them weren't people I really wanted to spend time with. It increasingly felt like a gigantic waste of time, and I lost all desire to even try to improve. It really felt good when I just gave up and stopped going out at all.

  I initially faded for the same reasons as you, talley ...the incredible, neverending guilt-trip. There was also my intense confusion over "new light" regarding the 1914 generation and blood. I became depressed and in order to save my sanity, I just dropped out. Now I know why I was depressed and why I am done with them for good...it's not the "truth".

  You aren't the only one, fleaman uk. I get a little frisson of fear every time, until my brain kicks back in. So many years of JW conditioning will do that to you. I'm hoping that with time it will fade out totally.

  What books have made you cry?

  the first book that ever made me cry was the grapes of wrath by john steinbeck.

  most recently, i was reduced to a blubbering wreck reading the five people you meet in heaven by mitch albom.

  The very first book that made me cry was Babar. The part about his mother being shot by a hunter was horrible. The next one that I can remember was Little Women. I sobbed and sobbed when Beth died...I think I was 11 or 12 at the time.

  I don't cry much at books these days, maybe because I purposely choose recreation that entertains me by making me laugh. I did read one not too long ago that really touched me, though, Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz.

  Very spiffy site, but I'm with Crumpet...that Kirk guy needs a swift kick.

  I'm so very concerned because just about everybody I know is going straight to hell. I didn't hang around long enough, though, to find out how much their cool program would cost so that I could learn how to save and be saved.
