  I really blew it......I am the nightmare householder!

  i really blew it yesterday.

  we had just gotten home from a very long day and we were contemplating what to do for dinner and then a knock at the door.

  the sister was back with an elder and he asked to speak to my husband...completely got his name wrong.

  I know just how you feel! I lost it on a jw woman who was by herself. Why was she by herself? Anyway, kids were here to hear it all, bad language included. Told her I knew about the child molestation, UN, etc...etc... What it has done to so many marriages (including mine) to stay away. She never came back. Her mouth just dropped to the floor and she left without a word. I once called a guy at 1am, on the heals of a fight with husband. Made him talk to me for over an hour. He had no answers for me on anything. Maybe he wasn't used to being up at 1am. But, he stopped coming around. Wish it work on the rest of them that husband is involved with. carla

  So how do I do this & get it right?

  tomorrow i will be mailing my special do not call, come by, or mail our family anything letter to new york.

  i was told i should also send the same letter to all the local congregations we were once affiliated with.. i did this when we lived at our old address and the letter to the local kh came back returned for having no mailbox.. so how am i supposed to get the letters to them?.

  any idea's?.

  When I sent my 'do not call' letter to the local hell, it also came back due to no mailbox. The one sent to NY came to the local hell, and to the elders. I also have a sign in my window by door- No Soliciting, Religious, youths dumped in suburbs, books sales etc.. thank you- Now nobody bothers us. We used to have quite a bit of book sales as well as the religous types. But, the others here are more experienced with the org, just my two cents. carla

  i've just finished reading this book

  i was brought up in the society, seen the elder arrangement brought in, seen changes and in fighting - and finally sttof down as a snr circuit elder in england because of the abuse issue and the society covering up.

  i have also the seen the society flee and cya because of the data protection act in the uk.

  Did you try Amazon? You can probably even get one used. Question- I was under the impression that when most jw's read C of C book they found Franz to be quite fair, all in all. And did not think he was bitter and just 'out to get the org'. What do some of you think? did you feel Franz was 'bitter'? carla

  has anyone heard of the gentleman who wrote the above titled book.

  among other things, he claims the new world translation is the most accurate translation available today.

  the author is jason david beduhn, an associate professor of religious studies.

  I have seen some things on this book. I think the statement that he thinks the NWT being most accurate is not quite right. There was some discussion on this on a Christian/JW forum. I can't remember where. ( I don't post there) Could have been part of CARM (?) Also, I think some people said he did not really read the NWT, just a few selected scripts. And there was some reports he is not versed in the ancient languages. Not able to verify any of this myself. Further research is needed. He did say there was some things wrong with the NWT, again, sorry I don't remember exactly what. I felt that if he did not actually read it and there was some question of his scholarship abilities, well... Try searching some of the Christian/JW forums. Let us know what you find out. carla

  i often wonder why people who post on this board do not have a bio.

  i can understand the need for privacy, however, many times i check a person's profile when a topic of interest appears; to me it lends legitimacy to the poster.

  In my case, sorry I didn't notice where to even put the profile. I think some people start to post at difficult times and just don't think of doing that. Hate to sound totally stupid but how do you even correct it? does it matter? Some of us are 'hiding out'. As this (and other exjw) sites are the only place anyone understands any of this nonsense. Ask your average joe blow on the street about 1914, 586/607, invisible return of Jesus, what do you think you will get? Heck, even most Christians I have talked with don't understand what the heck I am talking about. I don't understand myself sometimes. You guys are the only ones who even can comprehend this utter nonsense! I myself, have tried to talk to family& friends about some of this and they either plain don't believe some of it, or think I am embellishing. Even when I can produce literature! You see, many here have been jw & understand the whole concept. You have no idea how plain odd everything sounds to someone who has never been. Mainsteam churches do not get into these foreign docrtines. And yes, that's how they sound to outsiders. That is why it so difficult to even talk to jw's. The language is, well, like a completly different language.

  The loaded language, the 'redefined' words, just everything! That is why it so difficult to reach husband. We speak different languages now. Oh, don't get me started, carla

  Cala lilies. I am somewhat known for them. However due to all this jw crap I didn't dig them up the other year!!! what a loss. Isn't the above pic of a poppy actually a California Poppy? My Bleeding Hearts are just in full bloom now. My Irises are just starting to grow now, should bloom in about a month. It has been so cold in WI lately! Did you know that Pansy's are supposed to have a 'face' in them? I look every year for it. Do any of you know how to make Hollyhock Dolls? something my grandma used to do. Take a full bloom (it is the skirt) and a semi-closed one for the fancy hairdo. Use a toothpick to hold together and you have a beautiful old fashioned ballroom dancer. Too bad most kids today just think I'm weird! Oh, Well, it is something they will remember! Happy gardening! carla

  Wife arranging for me to study with a brother! I need a plan!

  here's the situation.

  my wife couldn't answer some deep issues i've raised regarding a few of the wts's teachings and dishonest representation of historical sources.

  naturally, she attributes her lack of answers to her own lack of research and knowledge.

  Me & my husband had an agreement like this awhile back. He would agree to meet with someone of my choosing if I would agree to meet an elder. I never allowed more than one jw plus husband to be there. For my turn I had a cult guy come, he was here for over seven hours! We showed husband all the flipflops, old stuff, etc.. He didn't care about any of it. Though I knew more about the org than he did at that time. For his turn, it turned into three seperate meetings. One with and elder, one ms, and one rank & file. None went very well. One was especially bad! I dropped the f-bomb on the poor rank & file. It wasn't like I said f-u but I was f-ing sick of this! I apologized profusely, but, he brought up our marriage and I lost it.I didn't think it was any of his business. Couldn't the dumb ass see? the org changes people, relationships etc... oh well, I did apologize, he didn't deserve it. But, the gb does. Good luck to you, carla

  what would you say to someone who is going to be baptized soon, who does not understand the whole 1914 doctrine or even how it was arrived at?

  good grief, isn't there a test or something before they baptize someone?

  husband has agreed to explain the 1914 for me in writing, but when i said he needed to explain the 607 date as well, he didn't even know what i was talking about.

  Wev'e talked till we are blue in the face about the child molestation problem. But, of course these things only happen in some other cong. and if elders cover it up that is hypocritical, etc.. but, then on the other hand he says aren't we supposed to forgive? around and around we go. Justice and forgiveness are two seperate things. If your child stole a candybar or something, you would forgive them but wouldn't some kind of punishment be in order? Like paying it back, taking away privelage or whatever. I haven't gotten to much into the blood thing with him. We have two kids, the HIPPA law just went into effect. I need to research it more, but, I think at 12 years of age the child can keep things private as well as making a choice of blood. Need to further research it. I still can't undestand how you can be baptized into something you don't even understand. It just makes no sense to me. I guess that's why it's a cult. carla

  Use of the word jah?

  i have noticed on ex sites the use of the word jah in reference to jehovah.

  is this just a slang used by ex's or do active also use it?

  if active members use it, doesn't it seem a bit disrespectful then?

  The monks name was Martini, I believe it was the 12 century. As long as we are on the Name, I have asked husband about the other names for God, such as- El Elyon,

  El Olam, El Roi, El Shaddai, Elohim, Yahweh-Jireh, Yahweh-Sabbaoth, Yahweh-Shalom, Yahweh-Shammah and even where God says His name Jealous. He never responded. Do the jw's even recognize these? I myself do not recognize the word 'jehovah', mostly when I am talking to husband though. As any vowel can be inserted without damaging the word grammatically, jihivih, johovoh, juhuvh etc. Yes, I understand that many do use it including the Catholics, even some Protestant and Evangelical types. But, by limiting His name to only one as the wt claims is the only way, I feel also would limit God an eternal being. It seems like they have packaged God up into a small little box. That's how I see it, so far anyway. thanks for your responses, carla
