Hey KLS- The hall we both know about only allow dresses or skirts. At least that's what husband says. He thinks it's a stupid rule. Where we live it can get really cold! carla

I can only repeat what everyone else is saying, RUN as fast as you can!!! There are many fish in the sea, and you are quite young. My husband has in the recent past gotten involved with the jw's. It destroys relationships, families and marriages. Find a girl you can share your beliefs with. Life with her would be very difficult. I know, because I am living it. carla

I thought they had actually set a date for the creation of Adam & Eve? Sorry, I'm just into the chronology of the wt at the moment. As a non jw it sounds so insane to me, it's hard to follow. They could have used some good fiction writers, at least it would be a better read. However, I am a bit fuzzy on just what the implications of this (yet again) new change is. Can someone fill me in? I'm amost sure I saw something where they already set the date for Eve anyway. Maybe all the way back to Russell's time. carla

Everlasting Life--The Carrot Put Before the Public
by blondie ini was looking over the article just before next sunday's study article.. taking in knowledge now and forever.
the attraction is living forever.. a few statements show the trend of the article.. a compelling reason to be selective about knowledge is that our present life span is so shrt.. you realize that you will simply not live long enough to do so.. could a field of knowledge be available that will prolong life significantly, even forever?.
please read the next article, which will offer you the prospect of taking in knowledge forever.. still, he does not promise his readers that they could literally live forever.. however, there is one kind of knowledge that does promise everlasting life.. conversely, if you did live forever, you could take in useful knowledge forever.. john 17:3. let us first define the term "everlasting life.".

Accurate Knowledge, another one of those annoying terms by jw's. Can an atheist know the Bible inside and out? Are they now approved by the wt? Why not? They have "accurate knowledge". Knowing about someone (in this case God, Jesus) is quite different than having some sort of (erroneous) knowledge of said person. It is similar to knowing everything you possibly could about a famous person , likes , dislikes, even their address, etc... But, you don't really 'know' them like your best friend or family member. A relationship is different than cold knowledge of someone. Which would you rather have people know about you or to actually know you? It seems, this is case where jw's speak (one of many) another language. It has been a continuous source of frustration for me. Words take on new and different meanings. Knowledge is not a relationship. carla

The word was a god

I'm sorry but any list put out by the wt is suspect. They have misquoted people to many times to ever trust anything they have to say. If they put out any kind of list I would want to see page numbers, date of publishing, author, etc.... There are far to many people (scholars) who do not agree with the wt at all, yet the wt has said the scholar was quoted as agreeing with the wt. See Mantey letter for just one example. Besides, I don't mean to be disrespectful here, but, can't you see that by adding the word 'a' makes it out that the wt has two gods? Even if one is not worshiped you still end up with 2. One God plus one god still equals two. There has been numerous articles on this subject. From real experts, ones that can even read the old languages as well as Greek (something the NWT translators could not do). Contrary to what the wt has taught, Christians do not believe in a three headed monster, nor do they think that Jesus is the Father. Please understand, The Father is not the Son, and the Son is not the Father. Adding 'a god' now makes one polytheistic or henotheistic. Check out some of the Apologetics sites for a more complete description. carla

WTS and charity?

makes me wonder would the wts do the same?
are they known to do anything charitable besides spreading the good news?

I have been looking on and off for two years of any proof they give anything to anybody! Husband keeps claiming they " send tons of food"! Yet, he is unable to provide one shred of evidence. He says, " your the one who doesn't believe it, you look". Or he will say, "we believe people need spiritual food more". I'm sure that is just so meaningful to those on deaths doorstep. carla

Stupid Analogies/Illustrations/examples you hear dubs say over and over
by doodle-v inwhat are some stupid analogies that you here dubs use all the time to explain their faulty, destructing teachings?
or maybe ones you've used in the past that when you think about them now, make you cringe?.
here are a few that come to mind:.

"Kissing a dead corpse"? what other kind is there? Oh, yea, me, a 'walking corpse" right? If I have to hear from husband one more time how -'at least we admit mistakes, those other religions just keep teaching the same thing they have always taught for hundreds of years'. Well, no sh** sherlock! Maybe cause the Bible doesn't change only mens interpretations? sheesh. carla

Wife arranging for me to study with a brother! I need a plan!
by M.J. inhere's the situation.
my wife couldn't answer some deep issues i've raised regarding a few of the wts's teachings and dishonest representation of historical sources.
naturally, she attributes her lack of answers to her own lack of research and knowledge.

What eventually happened? Well, I'm still researching trying to find the magic bullet. He is planning to be baptized in July. I'm just sick about it. Trying to make him see, but, not getting anywhere. Now, trying to make him THINK more than anything. He claims the 'brothers' are just so upset by our 'problems'. They feel really bad. Yeah, right. I don't care what they think. I think they care more that he has an unbelieving wife and kids than anything. He said he has postponed his baptism hoping I would come around at some point. He also knows that if he ever goes door to door I will start a door to door campaign of my own, with the 'cease & desist' letter. At one point he suggested I start an anticult ministry. I wrote Brooklyn and asked them what they thought about the idea, funny, no response. I just thought, he being the head of the house and all. ha ha. trudging on, carla

Re the old material, in a meeting with an elder & others they too suggested that info I got was doctored, or things sent to me could be fakes. I suggested we could have the paper and ink tested and split the cost. Somehow, they then believed that the info I had did look pretty much like the real thing, even the scans. As for how far back should one go, husband keeps saying - "today". What the heck does that mean? Considering their own literature tells you to look back at older issues. Never mentions any cut off dates. Also, I thought "new light" never extinguishes old light, it only enhances it. However, when the new light totally contradicts the old light it can hardly enhance it, can it? carla
