I have made "deals" like this with husband. My advice would be to make sure your deals are done first! Sorry but I have found jw's quite unreliable. I thought I read somewhere that some 'sister' has accused him of rape and actually has two witnesses to it. She was having trouble locating them and wasn't sure they would come forward. Can't find the site for that anymore. It was two teenage boys and she was a teenager when it happened. Anyone remember where this site was? carla

the programming director for pbs has asked for the removal from the knocking web site of language indicating the program will be aired on pbs.

this does not mean the program will never be aired on pbs.

rather, the request is made because of feedback from viewers like us.

I will be writing (again)! Imagine the voice we could have if everyone would take just a few moments to write to various people on the many different issues. Sen. Latch for instance, the local newspapers, the big news shows, heck, even Oprah and her book of the month club. In talking to a neighbor tonight it is very clear the public is woefully misinformed about jw and the many issues involved. Please, Please make your voices heard. As only one person, and not a jw at that, your voices have so much more weight than mine. Yet, I still tell people, I still go delivering anti witness material. I ask, if it is not too painful for you, make yourself heard. Your letters need not be novels, short and to the point is what is usally read anyway. on a soapbox tonight, sorry, carla (oh, I know why, it's Tues. meeting night! hope you will understand)

Social Skills..... or lack thereof

i have come to the realization that i have very poor to non-existent social skills.

i have become so scared of rejection ( i wonder why?

) that i only let people get so close and only reveal select personal information after literally years of knowing someone.sometimes when i'm out in public and see someone i know, if they haven't seen me yet i will try and avoid them.

What about skills and just plain normal behavior that is lost when an adult becomes a jw? Maybe I should start a new thread for this, anyway I can list a few-

Things lost-

The silent language of marriage

Reading your spouses face and knowing exactly what is meant- can't happen anymore cause often it's not his face anymore (see how cult members often take on facial expressions of other cult members)

Consistency- they tend to flip flop on even mundane things, almost as much as the wt has. But then I guess it keeps you on your toes.

Knowing you are really alone in the bedroom- vs- having 12 men from NY and a body of elders and the cong cause of the bigmouths there. (not that this has actually happened, but there is no peace of mind anymore)

jokes that have meaning to only the two of you- not really allowed as some, I suppose could be considered immoral or improper? (can't find right word)

Trust- how can you trust a mate that believes lying to you all in the name of jhovoh is acceptable

Partnership- when one would be content living as a boarder in a home that is supposed to be a family there is no partnership.

Oneness. - that one I miss the most

Memories- somehow they seem to have supressed many of the memories from previous years. I guess they were all sinful anyway.

common language- as so many words have taken on a new or different meaning. Thanks to all who have supplied buzz words and definitions of the cult language.

Conversation about everything and anything- not allowed anymore, I suppose I could 'stumble' him.

Respect- I at times have a difficult time having respect for him, can't he see what he has done to our family? No, he can't, that's why it's a cult.

Family first- no need to explain to you guys how that one works. Org first. Once upon a time though...

The list could go on I'm sure, but now I am sounding like a whiner. I haven't actually put those on paper before, what a wash of sadness. carla

wow, yeah i was looking fr the theocratic ministry school oral review questions and i came across an apostate site!

the site was www.jehovahs-witness.com and was just fill of retarded apostates!

they were not only using a domain name and header name that denotes a conection with the actual watchtower society, but where using it to blasphem the jehovah's true organization in order to help people break away.

Never being a jw, only studying about them, can you answer this for me? You imply those of us here should let you know about 'gehenna'. It is my understanding that jw's do no believe in a soul or anything that continues on after death, and that at the Big A, all of us who are not jw's will be exterminated, again no further consciousness. So how then could anyone tell you about gehenna? Is that like a jw way of saying 'go to hell'? carla

Rebel, that would be funny! He knows my response that argument already- that quote from the Bible is for Christians. I don't consider jw's Christians so therefore it doesn't apply to him in this household! carla

So how can I get them to treat husband that way so he can see first hand the 'loving nature of jw's'? I'm not sure I would really try anything but we (kids & I) do sometimes wish we get him df'd or something. Wicked fantasies I suppose. carla
