Does the sadness ever leave?
by pc inhi everyone, haven't posted for awhile.. i am probably just rambling tonight( a few glasses of great red wine) so pardon me.
every once and awhile i just have such great sadness that begins to permiate my thoughts.not just for me but for everyone who has walked this path.
i happen to have a pretty great life, but sometimes this deep sadness rises up in me for all the things that might have been.

Does it seem like your past with your spouse is slowly being erased? Do they remember earlier times? Does it seem they are not allowed to or should not even think of time before becoming a jw? what does the loss of history do to your relationship? I find all of it quite devastating. It's almost like living with someone with alzhiemers. I mean no offense to those truly dealing with the terrible disease. I just mean the loss seems like it could be somewhat similar. When you have a relative with alzhiemers slowly they no longer know or remember you. With a jw spouse slowly the relationship erodes and you know longer reallly know each other and the jw doesn't remember life before becoming a jw.

My wife has joined me in leaving the Watchtower!!!
by AlmostAtheist ini had posted a few times since my awakening asking how best to talk to my wife about my new take on things.
i was very afraid of handilng it poorly and chasing her deeper into the organization.
instead, she basically said, 'i've been feeling the same way!

"We aren't prideful, we are just giving credit to God's organization"
by Check_Your_Premises ini reply, "well if that were true, then why do you have to run down all the other christians?".
jw response: "nobody is attacking them personally.
it is the teachings.

CYP, what?! Did you put a listenting device in my home?! I'm shocked. You keep bringing up our conversations, shame on you! Think your in Canada or something?
I see far too often that we all have the same repetetive conversations. Then you can also bring the point (theirs in publication) that it is not a sin or persecution to point out false teaching. This however does not apply to the wt, ever. Then it is simply trashing jw's cause nobody likes them. Instead of trying to have an actual discussion about the differences using actual literature from either (Christendom or wt) or the Bible only, in my experience that is the point in which they want to give up. You only want to argue anyway. They seem unable to have an actual discussion, they only want to 'teach' you. No room for questions. They never seem to apply the same standards they want of others to themselves or the gb.

I thought I heard of this happening around here (midwest) maybe 10-15 yrs ago? But a question- the jw is actually going into a church? Isn't that a big no-no?

Rising gas prices, field service, meetings
by Jourles ini recalled the other day how several years ago my wife tacked on over 60k miles in about a year and a half on one of our cars while pioneering.
it still makes me ill thinking about it.
then i began to wonder how the recent gas price surge is affecting normal field service activities and meeting attendance.
