Is it normal for one who is a somewhat new convert to become emotionless? Maybe that's not quite the right word, but, husband just doesn't seem to care when there is a problem in the house with one of us. He will just say things like, 'well, I'm sorry you feel that way' and nothing more!!! And just goes about his business as if nothing happened. Even with the kids! This just totally frustrates them. It looks to them like he doesn't care. What am I supposed to say? I have to agree with the kids, it does look like he doesn't give a darn! from the house of frustration, carla

How to tell a close friend...
by sinis inwell, after much prayerful thought and earnest research i have come to the conclusion that the wts/jw's are just another religion.
for me it was not only the un but also all of the doctrine surrounding 1914. thus if 1914 is wrong than there is no "faithful and discrete slave", no "class" distinctions, etc.
i'm not going to turn into a jw basher as some do when they leave - to each his own.

Congrats on getting out of the org! I'm not a jw, never was, the others here can help you better with your question. You should know that not everybody here "bashes" the wt. Many just miss their families and are frustrated. Many have been deeply hurt by the org and are in the process of tying to heal. Some are just plain pissed off at the org. Some have feelings ranging from rage to deep sadness. Stick around and you will find all kinds here. As it should be when people are free to be themselves. carla

Something the speaker said yesterday that got my wife thinking. Advice?
by PaNiCAtTaCk ini was working yesterday so i wasnt at the meeting but the speaker in his talk made comments about 1914 on several occasions and towards the end of his talk he mentioned that if any new ones in attendence didnt understand the signficance of 1914 or how we know that christ started ruling in 1914 that they were invited to ask any jw in attendence to explain these things to them and they would be happy to.
this really got my wife to thinking because as a 28 year old jw who was raised as a witness and who has always been very active in the ministry she couldnt explain 1914 or any beliefs that we have as witnesses in regards to 1914 other than things havent been the same in the world since this pivotal date.
something as simple as this comment from this speaker can be the first step into seeing the errors in the wt belief system.

You should get the book 'The Gentile Times Reconsidered' by Carl Olaf Jonsson. It will certainly help refute the wt 1914 doctrine. Good luck, carla

I know just how you feel, I have been asking husband to explain it for quite some time. He never has, I don't think he can either. I was trying to make him see that-how can you be baptized into an org when you don't even understand it's main doctrine? It's like signing a contract without even reading it! I am in the same situation with 1914 right now as you. Good luck! carla

WT inflating their numbers?
by Fatfreek inthere have been posts here that indicate the kh building work may be slowing in the u.s., and that there is consolidation of the congos going on.
if that is true why don't we see the society's published numbers on the decline?
my next question is, heaven forbid, you don't suppose they're inflating the membership numbers do you?
-
carla
Nobody will ever know how they fudge the numbers as they are not held accountable to anybody. Would they agree to an independent audit? when hell freezes over! carla

Who here has written Bethel?
by unbeliever indid you get a response?
i know cruzanheart did.
i wrote one letter asking about the un.
-
carla
I wrote them on the advice of elders & others, they promised that of course they will answer your questions. No reply. What did make it back this way was my 'cease & desist' letter! At least they responded in some way to that! Carla

"Theocratic Warfare" - An Apostate Strategy?
by slimboyfat inwho here had ever heard of this so-called 'doctrine' of "theocratic warfare" when you were a jehovah's witness?
who has not heard of the so-called doctrine now that you are an apostate?
so why have witnesses never heard of 'doctrine', yet apostates seem to promote it as the last word on witness standards of honesty, integrity and decency?
-
carla
They certainly do condone lying to anybody, not just authorities. In my case they suggested that my husband should sneak out of the house without my knowledge. If you don't consider that dishonest, I don't know what is! carla

Do you hate the religion of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by logansrun in.
a simple question: do you hate the religion of jehovah's witnesses?
feel free to elaborate on your answer.. b.

Do you hate the Nazi's? I'm sure there were a few good ones in there (at least to someone), so what. It is possible to hate the religion and the people who run it. I hate the jw religion. The men who control lives, ruin family relationships, actually kill people, the rape of childrens souls, the rape of their bodies, this list could on far too long and just rile me up. It is not a stretch to compare the two in my mind. In some ways they are very similar. The difference is the subtleties the wt uses, they wrap up their own brand of hate and superiority in so called 'love'. The Nazi's justified everything they did in their loyalty to their own org. Wrapped it up in hoping for a better 'race' of people, exterminate the unbelieving Christ killler jews. The wt has the same hopes at the big A, exterminate all the unbelievers of jw doctrine hoping for a better 'race' of people. The Nazi's and the WT both restrict independent thinking and creativity. There are many ways to kill a person and I don't just mean their body. Of course anyone can be guilty of that, but the wt does an extraordirnary job at that. Then the question is, are the current members victims or willing participants? carla

splinter groups
by carla ini just received some stuff from macgregor ministries and in a booklet -how to identify a cult- there is a listing of cults.
i found it interesting that there a quite a number of splinter groups from jw's.
as usually jw's boast about 'unity' and husband is always going on about how 'they don't have all these other denominations'.

I found it interesting that there a quite a number of splinter groups from jw's. As usually jw's boast about 'unity' and husband is always going on about how 'they don't have all these other denominations'. Here are some of them-
Bible Students, Bible Studies Fellowship, Bible Way Publications, Christian Millenial Fellowship, Christian Renewal Ministry, Church of God,Faith of Abraham, Laodicean Home Missionary, Pastoral Bible Institute
In a meeting I had with a ms, we got on the topic of the use of the word jehovah, how it is actually not pronounced correctly. His explanation was that everbody uses jehovah and it is more common. Even though the wt has said that Yahweh is more correct. I said, 'so you are following the traditions of men then?" He didn't have much to say except that nobody 'really uses Yahweh". Well, here a few other cults that do-
Assemblies of Yahweh, House of Yahweh, Messianic Assemblies of Yahweh, Nation of Yahweh, Yahwehism
I suppose none of the above would matter to a jw anyway because none of them have the 'truth'.
