You cannot allow her to spiritually and emotionally abuse your child. Even if it is an inconvenience for you to find alternative sitting arrangements. Your child must come first. The child is not in a position to protect herself, that is YOUR JOB. Find a counselor who is versed in high control groups to help undo some of the damage your Mother is doing to her grandchild. She should under no circumstances be left alone with your child, ever. Please protect your innocent child. carla

Does God Care If We Get All Dressed Up To Worship Him?
by Honesty inlet's face the facts about getting ready for a meeting to worship.
it takes up at least 15-20 minutes for a guy to get the 'dub look' on and maybe more for the girls.
do you think god really cares about how we look on the outside or is he more interested in what's on the inside?

Phone Witnessing...
by RichieRich inin my congregation, there is a well established group that does phone witnessing every thursday.
the society actually encourages us to try other avenues of ministry, however it seems like phone witnessing is hurting more than its helping.... even i, the covert apostate, don't mind phone witnessing.
i mean whats not to love?air conditioningfoodsitting around and talkinggirlsdid i mention food?.

Here is the answer for all jw's trying to make their quota, simply marry an unbeliever. That way anytime you are short on your time, simply count every conversation with your mate. Problem solved. Heck, you could even become a full time pioneer using this method. carla

Another marriage bites the dust because of JW beliefs
by unbeliever ini know very few people who have been successfully married where 1 spouse is a witness and the other is not.
i know there are a few examples on this board.. a couple that i know irl have split after nearly 25 years of marriage because of the stupid shunning shit.
one of their 3 children got df'd 6 months ago and that is when everything fell apart apparently.

DY,
Wake up. Have you lived it? I do. I know full well the harm of the wt on marriages with ubm's! It is directly related to all the wt bullshit. carla

WT response to your letters?
by Smiles inhave you ever sent letters to the wt society and if so what was their response to you?.
did they send you an informative reply?.
did they send you a smug reply?.
-
carla
I wrote them on the advice of a ms, elder & rank & file. With the promise that, 'of course they answer letters'. That was over two years ago, no response. I guess the reason is because they didn' t like the way I 'phrased my questions'. This from a person who never even saw the letter. So, when the wt does not answer questions, 'where can we go to?" Why, places like jwd and other forums of equal distaste to the gb! carla

Are JWs really persecuted?
by gringojj ini find it interesting that the wts has this persecution complex.
apostates all out to get them and stuff.
i must say that although a search on the web will bring you lots of great anti-jw stuff(thier own fault because they only have 1 official website) the number of people actually trash talking is quite small and its mostly ex-jws and some still in the org.
-
carla
It seems the new word is now 'ridicule'. Persecution is still good though. Anytime someone disagrees with jw it is either persecution or ridicule. I would like to carry around pictures of people who are truly persecuted for their faith, whatever that may be, and show a jw just what persecution means. But, then I would be mean and vindictive and more persecution because I would be insinuating they don't know what the word really means! carla

Emoticon use...
by jeanniebeanz inhave you noticed that some posters seem to use the emoticon buttons more than others?
i have often wondered if those who use the buttons are normally very animated while talking, and use their arms and hands more than those who don't use the buttons.. if maybe they substituted the use of the emoticons for their inability to flail about with their arms, or make faces like they do in person.. i haven't met any of you in person yet so can't say.
it is true, or just a bad theory?.

I never even looked where you got these! We had a big virus problem quite awhile back, someone blamed it on someone downloading those little faces to use in IM. We won't say who did the blaming, someone who maybe felt persecuted by all the viruses. So I had an aversion to using them. Now, I know I will not get a std from using them!
Usually I'm feeling too serious here. A few times they would have sufficed as an answer though. Well, I feel stupid. carla

Captives of Concept?
by vitty ini want to order the book ( i think its called captives of concept).
does anyone know where i can order it from?
ive just ordered releasing the bonds, by steve hassan, but i couldnt find that book on the web site.. is captives also written by steve hassan?
-
carla
Captive of a Concept is written by Don Cameron. I believe he visits here sometimes. Just type in his name and you will find a few different sources. Randy's site Freeminds has a slew of great resources. Also Macgregor Ministries, many, many others too!
Here are a few books I have-
Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz and by him, 'In Search of Christian Freedom'
The Gentile Times Reconsidered by Carl Olof Jonsson (I find that book somewhat difficult because I didn't first understand the jw spin on all of that)
The Sign of the Last Days-When? by Carl Olof Jonsson & Wolfgang Herbst (I wish all jw's could read this one)
Jehovah's Witnesses and the Third Reich by M. James Penton
Awake to the Watchtower by Doug Harris
Approaching Jehovah's Witnesses in Love by Wilbur Lingle
When Trying Harder Isn't Enough Breaking the Bondage of Legalism by Neil Anderson, Rich Miller, & Paul Travis
The Sublte Power of Spiritual Abuse by David Johnson & Jeff VanVonderen
Out of the Cults and Into the Church by Janis Hutchinson (I think all churches should have a copy of this as many ministers do not seem to really understand cults and the
difficulties in leaving)
Jehovah's Witnesses answered Verse by Verse by David Reed
Reasoning from the Scripture with the Jehovah's Witnesses by Ron Rhodes
Jehovah's Witnesses and the Problem of Mental Illness by Jerry Bergman
From Kingdom Hall to Kingdom Come by Duane Magnini and Arthur Barret (from Witness Inc, many other resources there as well)
When Cultist Ask by Norman Geisler and Ron Rhodes
Yes, You Should Believe in the Trinity!!! by Christina Harvey
Walter Martins book on Cults as well, has most the other cults in there too. Randy Watters has a number of good books, look on his web site. He also has some videos.
I have more but don't feel like typing them all. And yes, my choices have a Christian slant. The ones that are not specifically jw.
Happy reading, wish your subject matter could be something else, carla
