Life Update 2019
by passwordprotected init's been a while since i was anywhere close to being active here, or on any other ex-jw forum or facebook group.
i rarely think about the religion and have little-to-no interest in it.. however, i do, very occasionally pop in here.
hence this update, 3 years on since my last one - https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5720228449222656/update-on-my-journey-8-years-after-end-watchtower-control.

My first encounter
by SB10 ini don’t know if the woman i met yesterday will ever see this.
but i will forever remember that day for the rest of my life.
my grandfather has been in icu for the past 3 days.

Sorry about your dear grandfather.
Basically this jw stalked you to mark time. She probably saw you in the hospital and followed you. Don't you find this creepy? Isn't it creepy that they are trained to behave this way? Lurking around hospitals, cruising obituary columns to send tracts to the grieving and even lurking in cemeteries to 'offer' their particular brand of 'comfort'.
Their 'comfort' comes at a very high price, please do your research at jwfacts.com
I suggest anyone who would have given you a religious tract of any kind in your emotional state would have made an impact.
Please, please read the horror and painful stories of ex jw's who have endured this so called religion which is really a cult.

Double Standard of Proof
by neat blue dog inthere's a new article about john the baptist (not sure why they reverted to baptist instead of the modern english 'baptizer'), and it goes into several areas of his life followed by quotes from josephus showing that these specific things were historically documented.
the article is summarized by saying:.
the first-century historian josephus viewed john the baptist as a real person.

I always thought it was weird when my jw would say 'John the baptizer'. I had never heard it that way, it was always 'John the Baptist'. Naturally that was in the non jw world.

The Latest From The Loony Left
by Simon inso apparently, not only can people identify as men or women, regardless of reality, but they've now declared that people can identify as black or white as well!
no word yet from rachel dolezal, who will no doubt be declared a visionary, and sadly michael jackson didn't live long enough to celebrate.. i must say, now that i am a black woman, my views on reparations have completely changed.
y'all owe me some reparations bitches to make up for slavery yo.

When can we start identifying as over 70 to collect social security and other senior discounts? (not that I object to senior benefits or ss, I just could use the help sometimes).
Other days I would like to identify as being a hot young 20 year old.

I got a Sympathy Card in the mail
by Butterfly607 ini haven’t been to a meeting in months.
just got a sympathy card in the mail from a “sister”.
i don’t know her beyond her face.
-
carla
Send her a Christmas card? just kidding.
In her mind she is just trying to help. You could help her by finding an equally uplifting Christian card, you know, the ones that have scriptures that jw's don't seem to know and get the deer in the headlights look when you ask them about those particular scriptures.
Or leave it be and stay under the radar.

Ever Wondered What People Think of Not-at-home Letters and Obit Letters?
by blondie inhttps://www.patheos.com/blogs/thefreethinker/2019/10/op-ed-intruders/.
here are some excerpts of a man who was called on by 2 young female jws, received a not-at-home letter as well, and what he thought about them.
i encourage you to read the whole thing, it is worth the laugh.. "it wasn’t pompeo knocking but he would have beamed approval on the two young women on the doorstep.

"But it really isn't. It's opportunistic and predatory." - YES!!!!!
How jw's do not see themselves as just plain weird is beyond me. It is one thing to say, "you are in my prayers" and quite another to get a personal note from a complete stranger after a loved one has died. One that the jw has no clue about and has never met attempting to tell you what to believe about the afterlife and that of your loved one.
I think part of the problem is that jw's do not grieve in the same way others do. I don't know, that's all I can think of. "Yep, they are dead so sad, now let's get out in service so we can get over it and not think of such unpleasantness."
Makes 'em sound rather like cold callous s.o.b.'s doesn't it?
