df'd and assemblies.
by ptrehearn152 inhi newbie here, i have a question that is begining to bug me a little.
i am not a jw or ever will be but my partner was some years ago and quite devout about the religeon then she was df'd for commiting adultry with another man (not me) who was not a jw, she got divored from her jw husband and left behind her 2 boys and went to live with 'the other man', anyway over the years her relationship with her 2 boys began to grow again and now she see's them once every 2 weeks, i should perhaps point out that her ex is a devout jw, she has told me that she would like to at some point go back to the 'hall' and carry on her religeon, i said that i dont have a problem with that but, i wasn't keen on the idea of her walking the streets knocking on doors due to the amount of hatred that some poeple clearly have for jw's and the fact that we now seem to live in a violent world, yes i know that jw's have to do so much 'service work', she has told me that she has not visited a hall since her df so therefore has not repented her sins as it were but on sunday she said that there was an assembly in our local vicinity (it's the annual one) and she would like to go.
i found this a bit odd that someone who had been df'd would be allowed to go to the jw's event of the year so began to wonder if whilst visiting her sons she maybe did visit the hall to somehow show repent with a view to be allowed back into the faith.

Welcome inbetween
Pro - encouraging bible reading, going to the source, other religions often do not bother or even not believe anymore in Gods word.
Are you sure that other religions 'often do not bother or even not believe anymore in Gods word' ? Or is that what the WT wants JWs to believe? And does the WT really encourage Bible reading (a recent WT article discourages JWs from studying the Bible alone and 'forbids' them to compare the 'New World Translation' with the original manuscripts. If the NWT is an accurate Bible, it should stand up to scrutiny - yet the WT KNOWS it is one of the worst translations of the Bible), or does it just use the Bible to back up (badly in most cases) WT literature? A JW 'Bible study' is actually a study of a WT publications.

Regional Identities in the UK - A short guide for Americans
by besty inso the uk is divided into 4 separate countries - the big bit called england that has wales on the side and scotland at the top with northern ireland off on its own island.. each country has multiple cultural identities.
broadly speaking (and i generalize) the wealth of england (and the uk generally) is concentrated in london, the 'rust belt' is in the middle namely birmingham and manchester and the north of england tends to be poorer.. scotland - where i'm from - is culturally rich but economically poor.
there is a long-standing argument about how wealthy scotland could have been if it had been able to keep all the north sea oil revenue instead of sending it to london.

Do Not Say: "The Society Teaches"!
by compound complex inwt 1998 - 3/15 p.19 .... .
"in order to avoid misunderstandings, jehovahs witnesses try to be careful about how they express themselves.
instead of saying, "the society teaches," many witnesses prefer to use such expressions as, "the bible says" or, "i understand the bible to teach.

Some great quotes there Mary (I PMd you yonks ago, lol) - just marking page
I'm confused over the term, 'householder' - I thought a householder is a no-tail* who sits on a platform at Kingdom Hall nodding in simplistic agreement over purile crap and begging for a Bible study?

what was the worst advice you were ever given
by rockmehardplace ini was that one way to increase my field service time for me and my wife was by standing at a truck stop and hand out tapes to truckers in the early mornings.
this is the same lot that is frequented by drug dealers and hookers.
another time, while studying, i said i did not understand the blood issue.

Ex jw wife
by sspo ini find it interesting that i posted about 16 days ago concerning whether i should write a letter and.
allow my ex wife to be free and marry.. saturday night she called out of the blue ( maybe there is a god upthere looking down) after 3 years of not talking to her and she wants to meets.. we met last night and after small talk about how we are both doing and family stuff, she asked me if i would write a letter.
freeing her or releasing her from our marriage without admitting adultery, since i don't believe in the bible anymore,.

JWs really have a gift for acting the persecuted victim. It was her choice to leave you...? You're not stopping her from remarrying, the WT is - and it's HER choice to follow the Watchtower rules.

im a jehovahs witness i dont gossip !!!!!!
by looloo inthat is one saying that really got on my bloody nerves , and the strange thing was it was usually the biggest gossips i have ever known in real life and j dub land that came out with that line !
they insist they do not gossip but in my workplace where 90 % of workforce were witnesses it was no different to any other place of work i have been in for gossip , i even remember thinking how nasty they were for calling a member of the congregation "shrek" what fine fruit i thought to myself !
did any of you know a "gossip" story ?

I've been the subject of gossip a few times that I know of that has reached my ears
You've reminded me, MrsJones - me too. The elders approached me officially accusing me (incorrectly) of wrongdoing because a 'sister' (who I never mixed with) had reported me. I later (accidently) found out who she was. I have no idea why she made up stupid allegations - and I have no idea why the elders would act on silly rumour.
I've heard JWs criticise 'Worldly' people for such things as fornication and adultery, and have responded, ''well Sister so-and-so (or whatever) is guilty of the same''...BUT ''sister so-and-so is sorry''...''How do you know that 'Worldly' person doesn't regret their sin?''.

they are all a bunch of hypocrites!
Yep - the vast majority certainly are, and they're too stupid to see it! There's no excuse for this sort of behaviour - she may be a tad scared of associating with you on internet (as any real JW would not actively associate with D'fed or weak ones, especialy via Satan's tool - the Net)...maybe she'll change her mind.
PS..whereabouts are you in England? (can PM me if you don't want to post )

When the "Anointed" Contributed in Numerous Ways
by compound complex ingood morning, fellow jwners:.
my jw friends and i are discussing the current topic revolving around the downplaying of the anointed remnant's existence and role as contributors to the spiritual growth of the other sheep.. i took very seriously the opportunities i had to aid the many "anointed" whom i knew personally.
those i associated with were not crazy, self-deluded individuals but very devout christians who helped to ground me spiritually.

I've only spoken to one ''annointed'' - about three years ago. He told me that they all have different gifts - prophesy, healing and interpretation. I asked what his gift was, he replied, 'interpretation' - and that he 'knew' things that the Society weren't yet aware of/teaching. I suggested that perhaps he ought share his 'knowledge' with the Society in that case, but he said that it would be 'running ahead' and not accepted yet.
For the record, I personally believe that anyone claiming to be 'annointed', ie, 'special' is delusional and should be mentally assessed.
