I am not putting down women, at all. My point is that is that man's achievements and contributions far outweigh his faults. You might as well ask "why are German's so bad" because of some German behaviors and attitudes 60 years ago.

Why are men so bad?
by Qcmbr insometimes i'm so ashamed of being male - .
why are men responsible for most rapes, paedophilia, pornography, abuse, criminal behaviour, war, bullying etc..?
if women (on average) were as physically strong as men would they be responsible for 50% of the above or is it something to do with men?

Maybe you should have titled it "Why are some men so bad". And then a companion thread, "Why are some men so great". Thank god for the great men of history

The title of this thread sickens me. Why are men so bad? Men are great. Men have improved the lives of all human-kind. Men are capable of evil and cruelty, true, but men have also given the world and it's women gifts beyond measure. History's greatest artists, poets, composers, inventors, builders, philosophers, etc. etc. etc. are men. Men rock

Tsu, a word of advice. Once you're in your new digs...look through the peep-hole before you answer the door. Who knows what's waiting on the other side. Land Shark, Candygram, JW...

There is no graceful way to back out ...
by ljwtiamb ini find it interesting that the chickens have come home to roost for wts.. just as they have allowed no dignified way to exit the org, without disgrace, there seems to be no way for them to gracefully apologize for past (errors???).
just think of the recent mass exodus of faithful that has come about with each major doctrine change.
so many have been ruined by devoting their lives to the gb, that even if there was a sincere effort to correct things, i believe that the vast majority of the current membership would just revolt.. it's just a matter of time before the entire house of cards comes tumbling down.. so, whaddya think?.

This house of cards has remained in place for well over a hundred years now. The JWs will continue to bring new ones to the fold, those that have no clue about lies-past. The "devout" will continue to cling to the "new light", while weeding out the unbelieving. I see no end to it. Reform, maybe, but it'll continue in one form or another. You can fool some of the people all of the time. It's a vicious cycle

I really blew it......I am the nightmare householder!
by Why Georgia ini really blew it yesterday.
we had just gotten home from a very long day and we were contemplating what to do for dinner and then a knock at the door.
the sister was back with an elder and he asked to speak to my husband...completely got his name wrong.

That's awesome, Georgia. And to think, when they come to my door, I just don't answer it. Guess I need to grow a pair. Thanks for the inspiration.

My heart goes out to you, Seeker. All I ever wanted was a woman who I could cherish and who I could grow old with. Some things will never be. That sucks. Move on, move forward. Robbie - planting my hopes on Ditto

Also had an elder whose last name was Dover. His first name wasn't Ben, but that's what we called him. He was actually pretty cool and a good sport about it.

There was a brother in our hall who was a few years older than the group of guys (all trouble-makers) that I hung out with. The brother's name was Wilcox, and he was a MS, pushing for elder. Our running joke was that we'd always address him as "Brother Will Cock". He'd get pissed and say, in no uncertain terms, "It's Wil-COX". We'd innocently reply, "Oh, more than one?" And he'd storm off in a huff. I couldn't count the times he fell for it. I know it's lame, but we were kids and his reaction was hilarious.
