Most people i that i talked to (ones i know personally that talk freely about the religion) were dissapointed by the talk, they were expecting alot more.

by architect infrom what it sounded like the special talk was another whose side are you on jehovah's or satans.. from the beginning the speaker said there is no new information!
he said "if youre not for jehovah then youre for satan- case closed!".
he also mentioned that jehovah has always had control of his creation!

Anyone know about 'cutting'?
by love2Bworldly ini am researching cutting and self-mutilation because i have a close family member who is doing this--she burned her arm last week and it's bad.
i was wondering--i found an article on the internet that talks about support for the person and how some people get relief by using other methods like icing the skin with ice cubs or flicking themselves with rubber bands.. this person is in therapy and in the care of a psyciatrist too but i just wondered how common this is.
her diagnosis isn't even for sure--could be adhd or depression.. any comments on experience with this would be helpful.

Daniel Book
by 5thGeneration inmy super zealous father told me the other day how he just "loved" studying the daniel book for the second time.
he got "so much more out of it this time".

EXACTLY @ Gregor. The current daniel book simply qualifies JW beliefs.
In the book that you studied the communist bloc was the final king of the north, in the current daniel book they moved the communist bloc back one place and now have a footnote saying that the final King of the north hasnt arrived yet. The daniel book is EXTREMELY confusing. Most witnesses credit this difficulty to it having "deep spiritual truths", when really it should be accounted for the amount of mental gymnastics anyone reading it has to enure. Its amazing how an organization can constantly change the future and millions of members can not(or pretend not to) notice. -

What does it take to make my sister to stop shunning me? High Gas Prices!
by Elsewhere ini recently received a very odd email from my devout-jw sister who has been shunning me since 1998. it is that "the price of gas is too high so lets stop buying gas from exxon and mobil to start a price war" email.
i'm sure many of you have seen it.. therefore, what does it take to make my jw sister stop shunning me?
simple: high gas prices!

Woman with a flat tire. Would you have stopped to help when you were a JW?
by ObservingTexan inin the light of the second greatest commandment, "love your neighbor as yourself", when you were an active jw would you have stopped to help in the following scenario?
you are in your car and drive by a woman who is having car trouble... a flat tire.
she's struggling to get the tire changed.

I remember this study they showed on 20/20 about how a female is more likely to be helped if her car is broken down IF she's attractive.
but anyway, i probably wouldnt considering that someone would probably see me and then rumors would probably fly around about how i was on a rendevous with some girl and her car broke down. :-(
