  For the food we our about to eat...

  it seems odd to me that people thank god before eating, thanking him for providing the food, because it seems like common sense that if he provided us with this food then he failed to provide all the starving people with food too.. does anyone else agree?

  Thats just one of those things.

  Like, supposedly going to a convention protects you from anything bad happening, yet if someone gets killed on their way to the convention, does that mean that God's spirit wasnt with the organization or with that person?

  What i find saddening is all those people who were long dead in the 60's and 70's from starvation, when they could've been helped, but the WTBS decided that the end was just around the corner and that they'd all be saved...Hope they still arent waiting.

  How many actually watched or owned adult material when they were Witnesses?

  i was at a book study when i was in my teens and went to use the bathroom, and the family who owned the home said to use the one in their bedroom, as someone was already in the other one.

  so i did and as i was in there i noticed a magazine on the counter that was only partly covered.

  i could not help myself, and looked to see what it was and it was a penthouse.

  My first intentional skipping of field service

  so i woke up this morning and i just didnt feel like going to field service.

  So i woke up this morning and I just didnt feel like going to field service.

  You may be wondering "Why the hell does this matter? I dont ever go out "

  Well my friend, not including conventions, assemblies and illness, i can count on one hand the amount of times i've missed field service, And this feels GREAT.

  I dont know what it is, but i've lost the will to really care while going door to door. I was never really zealous at field service, but i've found myself slowly becoming complacent. I've stopped using "conversation stoppers" and my presentations are extremely brief and to the point. I also got in the knack of not doing return visits and Thursday night this guy walk right up to me and asked for a bible study, in which i directed him to an elder.

  I think 2006 is going to be a good year :-d.

  can anyone tell me what do jw think of the family of none jw .as most of you know my daughter is a jw and it now seems to me that these so called people are telling my daughter not to have any contact with her family only with them.

  if this is true why are they doing this and why is she doing what they are telling her.

  I remember once, two years ago. I saw this guy that was disfellowshipped. I didnt know him that well, but i was pretty close to his family.

  I was walking home and I saw him, and before i could even go into witness mode i nodded at him. I was messed up for the rest of the day because i felt like i committed some unforgivable sin.

  Anyway, I see him every other month or so, and i always nod or wave. (I'm still an active witness if you were wondering my point, lol)

  it's important for us to hear these experiences and to share them with each other.

  it helps us tear down the mistaken beliefs that the incidents that happen to us are not isolated ones, but are in fact par for the course when one parts ways with the jws and wts.

  I'd never believe your stories this time last year, but i'm slowly starting to take it in.

  I noticed recently just how unloving the bro's and sisters can be. There's a sister in my congregation who had a book study at her house for over 30 years. She was recently put into a nursing home, and she's never visited by any elders. Its just really sad.

  never have i been more aware of the lengths that the watch tower society was willing to go to maintain their donations and their control of us witnesses than i was at the district assembly in bismarck nd in 1975. this is where i began to doubt my acceptance level of the doctrine called the doctrine called the "theocratic war strategy" (tws).

  that is, the viewpoint that says it is all right to lie to jehovah's enemies.

  Good Read. They wont stop you from using the vending machines, just watch you very closely. One thing they hate is when witnesses use the food courts during the conventions. I remember a couple of years ago, i was 10 ish, these teenagers were playing house of the dead and cruisNworld in the food court, these attendants came up and ask for their names and congregations and walked off.

  A New Trend for JW Baby Boomers?

  i'm sure this topic has come up before but i'm new here :-) since many of us are offspring of the baby boomer generation or of a generation earlier, i've noticed a trend.

  my parents and their siblings who largely grew up as witnesses are now entering or have entered retirement age.

  although my parents were generally hard working and responsible people, they have little retirement savings.

  I took a feminist theory class in college, of course, no other witness in my congregation knows this. I doubt that she can seriously stay a witness and be taking a women's issues course, one of the first things they talk about is socialization and attack the patriachy of male dominated society and religion.

  Lol, thats hilarious. But i'm pretty sure that its simply showing that for some reason, a significant number of bought that MLK dvd along with planet of the apes, or perhaps they share a director/producer,etc.
