Briefly off topic. BTS has a strong profile here. I regularly don't agree with him but on other occasions feel he is like a brother. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt that something is bugging him big time and he is venting. I will give him space and see what happens. Sorry, back to topic.....

"Religion...is the Opium of the People" - What did Marx Mean?
by cofty inwhen read in context karl marx was not directly attacking religion when he wrote those famous words.. .
religious distress is at the same time the expression of real distress and the protest against real distress.
religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, just as it is the spirit of a spiritless situation.

Interesting....
This got me thinking about hope. When life is going well, there is a tendency to not look too far into the future but when times get hard and there appears to be no way out, humans tend to turn to divine intervention for a better future. Clever people have manipulated this to get others to accept their place in the social order via religion, so people are opiated into accepting their lot in life.
In other words, social manipulators need unrest and oppression to continue, so individuals don't see their inherent rights and power.

Too sad.
I knew an old man who died just short of his 110th birthday. One of nature's gentlemen. He never wore glasses and was embarrassed that he needed to use a walking stick in his last months!!! He believed in the four f's, Faith Family (good healthy) Food and Fun. He saw three centuries. 1897-2007. RIP Frank Scarrabelotti

Rain on a Tin Roof
by Broken Promises init's currently raining bucketloads while i type this.
we've had a typical summer-time storm with thunder, rolling clouds, heat, then the cooling winds which come with the thunderstorm.. (a loud crack of thunder just exploded when i typed thunderstorm, yikes!).
i have a tin roof, which only amplifies the sound of the rain!

I live in probably the wettest part of NSW, so hear rain on the roof regularly. I sleep on my deck too, so can smell the rain before it hits. The only negative was getting used to all the noisy birds predawn. Now I am used to it....

I actually tried one once and didn't tell my girlfriend. We had a mild argument over something trivial, so I never got to find out how they work!! LOL!! About the only thing I got was a stiff neck!! Absolutely true story....

"Need little blue pills. 40% of men need them after 40".....Is that strictly an American thing, or do I have good genes? LOL!

How I Know The Assembly Parts Are Made Up
by lovelylil inwe had a co looking for a certain experience for an assembly part coming up and the elders in my hall at the time sent him to see me, since i usually had good experiences out in field service.. anyway, after speaking with the co, i was sorry to inform him that i did not have an experience that suited the type he needed.
he told me that was o.k.
because he could use me anyway for another part.

I've posted this before but a district overseer was not impressed by an experience for the district convention. In frustration, he told us to polish it. Aussies would remember him, A Mason. Funny how his name popped up just now after all these yrs...
