It's pretty well excepted that Australian aboriginal people walked from Africa, around the south of what is now India, through S.E. Asia and across now long sunk land bridges 50,000 years ago. I cringe now to think that I knocked on people's doors for decades saying humans had been on the earth 6,000 years. Well I must admit that I even then, avoided the subject.

my buddhist encounter
by Hortensia inso, we have a buddhist abbey in the woods near here.
lots of americans with shaved heads, wearing tibetan buddhist costumes.
they do a walk around town once a month with begging bowls, pretending they are sadhus.

I agree Hortensia. The "Tibetan" buddhists in my town walking around with their loud robes and noses in the air always give me a giggle. The same with the sad looking monks they bring out from India to chant like side show acts for the Westerners. Why can't us Westerners just let religion go and strive to be moral individuals without all the ridiculous trappings? I could guess and say no ego petting in that.
From my travels in buddhist countries I have seen women treated as very second class, including the buddhists nuns who eat when the men are finished (Thailand) and who hold no positions of power. I didn't see too many women in the Dalai Lama's temple in Daramsala either (like none in the ceremony), so do these maroon robed women (Tibetan and as I recall the women wear white not orange like the men in Thailand) realise they have joined the Eastern equivalent of the catholic church?

One of the first things I did post jws was get my teeth fixed. All done in S.E. Asia, mostly Bali but I got three gold teeth in Thailand (before gold prices went crazy). The Orthodontist wanted to perfectly match my other teeth with porcelain but I said if I'm spending this kind of money I want people to know! LOL! I didn't smile a lot when I travelled alone in the boondocks of places like Cambodia. The poverty was so bad they would easily kill for that gold.

Question for the married guys
by TweetieBird inis it possible to be friends with a woman, text her, call her, etc and not be physically attracted to her?.
-
doofdaddy
So the guy is married and you are single? If so it should be fine so long as the wife is fully informed and aware of this relationship (which it is). If the wife doesn't know or if you feel uncomfortable communicating if the wife contacts.......

As Kurtbethel said, this is rehashed theosophy. Blavatsky and her cronies originally stole a young Indian boy called Jiddu Krishnamurti and forced him to be maitreya. He was deeply depressed and finally got up at one of their events and basically said "There are no gods, no gurus just be responsible for yourselves" and he quit (interestingly JK went on to be a guru LOL).
Quite sad that we as humans have not moved on from looking outside for answers and salvation.
Let's see....
A religion that teaches the end of all suffering
A religion that says a leader will come down and save us all
A religion that says a new world will come with peace and plenty. Sound familiar?
Yeah I'll buy that. Where do I sign?

LOL Prologos the GB are busy keeping control. They would never understand.
Hey Designs yeah I've seen my share of big sharks and been hunted up too! Actually I shared a house in my teens with a guy who had been attacked by a white pointer. It bit through his board but only knocked one of his teeth out as he had his head turned, lucky. He continued to surf and freed dive spearing fish on his own...Crazy

Yes the ocean has a feminine nature. Tranquil one moment then wham heaving the next, warm one day, freezing the next. Bright bluegreen, then grey and ominous. Playful then deadly.Ultimately though nurturing and a sustainer of life. This obviously plays into the scenario of being reborn when spat out of a tube. There is nothing like setting up a barrell, being covered by the lip watching it curve and thunder but seeing the way out and finally being released back in to the "real" world.
I have surfed many times with dolphins, sometimes in the wall of the wave, sometimes flipping and spinning around me and on a few occassions I have released my board and swum with them and even patted them. They are very curious and appear to have an affinity with humans. Science has claimed that their sonar can see a placenta in a pregnant woman, so that could be a link.

My life was the ocean for as far back as I remember. My father bought my elder brothers an okanui hollow board in the 50's and I was in the surf before I could swim at 6. Without giving too much away, my brother became very famous as a surfer, shaper and writer and still is. I made surfboards for years and surfed nearly daily until I had two accidents. One in 10 to 12 foot cyclone swell where I got hammered by the lip and broke two ribs, tore my stomach muscles and had a night in hospital with a bruised heart. Second was a ruptured disc which is a common surfers injury from long term paddling with an arched back. I have met many famous surfers and as a child met the Duke (Kahanmoku), surfed and partied with Michael Petersen and generally lived the surfer's life. I now bodysurf as my father first taught me but sometimes use fins (like in Bali!).
The ocean revives me when life's tests arrive and I will be scattered in it when I die....

Do Animals Have Souls?
by Cold Steel ini know most jehovah's witnesses believe in the soul sleeping doctrine.
by this, given that neither man nor beast has a spirit, but that they do possess souls (or "intelligences" unique to themselves).
where this intelligence resides between death and resurrection is more than a passing interest, but again, assuming that yehweh can recreate one's distict soul, does the society believe that animals have souls?
