There Is No Atheist In Practice!
by abiather in1) in conscious level, everyone agrees with the principle of cause and effect that says a cause precedes every effect, and every effect is the cause for another effect/s.
in subconscious level, everyone knows that if there is a cause for everything, then there a cause (or a designer) for the principle of causation also.
and this cause is more real than the principle of causation itself, just like source is more real than the resources!.

New Study Exposes Acupuncture As Pseudoscience
by alecholmesthedetective inbesides it being pseudoscience, what interests me about this is that even though it's something to do with the "qi" energy flowing in our bodies, that wasn't a problem for some members of my family or a special pioneer i knew.. new study exposes acupuncture as pseudoscience.

Modern acupuncture: panacea or placebo? - The Conversation
Not sure if this link from the University of Melbourne will work (Firefox). I lived in Hong Kong in the early 80's and was introduced to acupuncture and Chinese medicine (yes that's what it is universally called). I have used it on and off since, mainly for sinusitus and lower back pain. I don't care about double blind studies (despite the results from above link) as I know it works. Placebo? Who knows? More likely the power of our amazing brains to self heal. I am amazed at the back lash here as from a quick search on the 'net shows most Western countries medical insurance companies cover acupuncture.
Have any of the naysayers actually tried it for a reasonable time period?

i'm talking the kinds of poor people who have to get food from charities kind of poor, or long term unemployment living in a trailer/caravan kind of poor.

If You Were Still "In The Truth" What Type of Life Would You Have?
by minimus indo you think you would be just going thru the motions?
would you be an elder, ms, or pioneer?.
i think there are many that stay in the religion simply because of family/friends considerations.

I would definitely be dead, not from suicide but from the stress of pretending to be someone I'm not. By the time I left my health was fading and I felt an old man at 40ish. Now that I am my genuine self, my health is near perfect. No medications, no mental/emotional issues and I am much more relaxed, unless I have an extra espresso in the morning!

Maybe these type of people never get the chance to be jws because they are not on a territory map (homeless) and let's face it, jws are judgemental. Who's going to "witness" to the wino in the park, people living on the fringes of society. Sure some witnesses will preach to anyone but the majority don't want to return visit to a hovel or bush camp. Jws are a very middle class attempt at religion.

There was a guy who became a jw around the time I did. We became fast friends via surfing etc. Over the years we both got married and had kids. I was always amazed how he had a such a comfortable lifestyle. Money was never an issue. I also wondered why he knocked back" privileges" as the elders seeing he was such a good business man would make a great ms or elder..... We lost contact.
20 yrs go past and we both also end up out and so does the (real) truth. He was growing massive amounts of hydro marijuana the whole time!! Marketing via family connections. Legend!!

How bad is the nepotism really with the appointments of elders?
by toto555 ini've seen brothers related or who are friends of elders who get appointed after only 6-12 months as an m.s.
while they were other brothers slaving away for years.
elders also who promote their sons and basically say to other young brothers "to heck with everyone else".

That's correct Julia but the jws are god's holy appointed (only true) source of truth.

I hate suits they repulse me!. You don't see them where I work. Oh and I cringe when I see old people wearing them, trying to look young, embarrassing...Suits are a sign of class distinction and corporate criminals which reminds me of prison gangs. operating out of jails.
Of course I don't believe this. It's just to indicate the judgements that we carry especially as exjws.
The same could be said for dying your hair, beards and on...

The medical specialist told me something alarming today. Pretty bummed.
by Julia Orwell inso i've been going to doctors for years with chronic fatigue, a condition i managed ok but which took a drastic nose dive in late 2011 to 2012 to the point where i could barely function.
work was part of the problem, so at the end of that year i left that stressful environment.
but in the meantime, for the last few years i've been going to doctors, specialists, psychiatrists and psychologists and undergoing every sort of blood test you can imagine and seeing all sorts of medical people.

Good choice as the hourly rate is worth it. Over the years at times I was a teacher's aide in Primary and Secondary schools and have a few mate who are teachers, so I know the system. Don't forget to have fun Julia! Oh as far as a house, yeah I know the story but for me after 2 marriages and two houses (gone, one nearly beach front at B Bay ((you know south of you)) I rent very happily...
