Sad to hear of your health issues but very glad that you have been given more time to spread your thoughtful words and gentle attitude
Your words reminded me of this piece I am sure you have read and contemplated
JAPANESE MAPLE
Clive James
Your death, near now, is of an easy sort.
So slow a fading out brings no real pain.
Breath growing short
Is just uncomfortable. You feel the drain
Of energy, but thought and sight remain:
Enhanced, in fact. When did you ever see
So much sweet beauty as when fine rain falls
On that small tree
And saturates your brick back garden walls,
So many Amber Rooms and mirror halls?
Ever more lavish as the dusk descends
This glistening illuminates the air.
It never ends.
Whenever the rain comes it will be there,
Beyond my time, but now I take my share.
My daughter’s choice, the maple tree is new.
Come autumn and its leaves will turn to flame.
What I must do
Is live to see that. That will end the game
For me, though life continues all the same:
Filling the double doors to bathe my eyes,
A final flood of colours will live on
As my mind dies,
Burned by my vision of a world that shone
So brightly at the last, and then was gone.

My Day's Long and Arduous Journey
by compound complex inthis, my day's long and arduous journey, is winding down as infinite night gracefully descends and takes me into her welcomed embrace.. i have no reason to fear the inevitable, my transition into a higher and more glorious estate than was allowed me upon this beautiful but angst-filled habitation.. what must be borne with calm, with dignity, with rejoicing, has been prepared for me from earliest times.
its accomplishment requires nothing of me .

Well after reading all this esp your comments, I see that you yourself would make an excellent cult counsellor. Go back to Uni and do a psych degree maybe at Bond as it is so close to you. No doubt you would get a lot of Advanced Standing for your Dip Ed and from reading your posts I could imagine that you would flourish under attending a campus rather than distance education (of course you will run up a HECS bill but hey you only live once).
I have a relative who went back and did her Psch Degree and Masters post jws and she learned so much about herself and the religion via study and talking to her lecturers. The first thing she got was confidence in herself and her ability to think after the total conditioning of the cult.
Oh and sorry about the cat

It's the beginning of the wet season in SE Asia so massive storms build within minutes. Early reports are that they were not granted rights to fly over a large storm due to heavy traffic. Very sad and terrifying for those on board. -

New forum 'parousia' is upon us! (software version)
by Simon inthe time has nearly come to switch over to the new forum software.
of course it's not completely finished yet (and never will be) but i think it's good enough to go live with and probably already better than the current one.
i'll give you a quick overview of what to expect and post more detail about the changeover process later.. cloud platform.

Pat Condell on Britain's Cultural Crisis
by cofty ina scandal is brewing in the uk.
for many years gangs of asian men engaged in rape and torture of young girls who were in the "so-called" care system.
it is believed there were around 1,400 victims in north west england, focussed on the town of rotherham.. if reports are to be believed, social workers, police and the cpc knew it was happening and everybody failed to act for one simple reason.

Feeling sad over a wasted life in watchtower
by wannaexit init's been 12 years since i first read ray franz's books and the scales came off my eyes.
by that time i was in my forties.. since 2002 i went back to school and have worked with 3 very professional organizations.
but my biological clock is ticking away and while my peers are looking forward to retirement, i am only beginning.

Totally can relate wannaexit and others. The best, most productive of my years spent knocking on doors and attending mind numbing meetings that regurgitated the same bile week after week, year after year.
And agree it took until my early 40's to realise that I was living in Zombieland.
The only way I can deal with this situation is to live in the moment and appreciate the gift of life that many missed out on. Now that is a true miracle.
Ain't life grand?

My Lecturer booby-trapped me - Patterns of Authority in Early Christian Communities
by fulltimestudent ini have a 2500 word essay due next tuesday, so i shall be invoiced until then.
and, i already have been turned upside down.. even though there are set topics for the main essay, it is possible to negotiate for an essay on a subject of personal interest.
i'd been thinking about the development of leadership in the early christian congregation, so i asked my lecturer, if i could write on that.. he asked me for a brief outline of what i was thinking, so i reviewed my early thoughts - that jesus primarily had left no clear instructions (because he was expecting divine intervention and the restoration of the kingdom), but he had trained his disciples in missionary work - which i interpreted to mean that jesus expected his own ministry to continue, to provide the judean people with continued guidance, modelled on what he (jesus) had done.. but as christianity developed (and the expectations of jesus remained unfulfilled) a different model developed and i wanted to explore the model we see developing in the nt (think pauline) and where that model came from and then transformed into the monarchial model with bishops.. .

Today I was listening to the (Aust) ABC and a speaker made a very good point. He said that Jesus was a Jew and once all the symbolism and myths in the "New Testament" are removed, he remained one. He said his teaching style was classic for Nazareth where he was raised by using parables and not writing anything down (he/they were uneducated) He noted that there were "Christian" groups which attended Christian meetings one day then went to the Synagogue on another up until the yr 150CE.
His point was that Christianity was a Roman concept.
