  hello.

  i am not and never have been a jw, but have recently become involved with a man who is, and i hope some of the people here can help me because i'm confused.

  The way you explain the situation, I would hazard a guess that this guy is disfellowshpped or at least marked. Generally jw's work and provide for themselves. Generally they will have a reasonable grasp of their beliefs and will only be too willing to preach. Generally they have positive things to say about fellow believers and family.

  When people ask me advice on relationships, I usually say, if you go ahead with this person, what will it be like in 5 yrs, 10 yrs?

  When will you stop saving him? Or more likely, when will HE get sick of you controlling and "advising" him?

  Isn't that what he is rebelling against in his religion and family?

  i gave blood a few weeks ago, and i received a card today, with my name on it and my blood type when i go give blood again.. .

  i'm o negative, which means i'm a universal donor.

  My son lost his front teeth playing jw rugby league. They searched the field and found them. Cost me $4,500 to have them put back in.....No one offered to help with the cost.

  did this ever happen to you?

  just wondering if this happened to any of you.

  did you ever go to the service group and be assigned to the different car groups.....and then....the sister that is assigned to go with you...decline and say...'i am just going by myself today and do my return vistits by myself'..... damn, i should have complained about that one!

  hubby had a loud confrontation with the elders last week.

  by pure coincidence we ran in to a few jw's this weekend while walking the dog.

  the first family welcomed us with warm christian hospitality.

  years ago just before my exit from "the truth" i had a chat with my father inlaw about changing and conflicting doctrines in the wt.. i happened to use the word wrong ....wow what a reaction i got.

  i was reamed out on the spot.they are not wrong...they are never wrong...... it is "new light" .

  in the next hour i could not get him to say or even think the"w" word.. it was very frustrating.

  I've told my generation story before so I won't go there. Needless to say the elders I met with claimed the wts never said a literal generation and I better watch my attitude.....I left.

  I reckon the next "new light" will be how disfellowshipped people are treated. Reckon it will come out something like this... The examples of the treatment of those who turned away was only applying to the jews in jesus time. After prayerful consideration, jsus christ thru his organisation has instructed us to speak to and even encourage these "prodigal sons" to return to the faith. What a loving org!

  You wanna put $10 on it to happen within the next ten years??

  If you wanna get picky I guess you would have to mention (I think)the Gregorian monks, who were the first to put music to paper, as in a literal record, taking music from peoples memory to permanent status.
