Nelson Mandela passes

the man who spent 27 years in prison in his relentless effort to free south africa from apartheid has passed at 94.. he sought peace, understanding and tolerance in his efforts to reconcile the nation and the peoples of south africa.

he learned the africaaners language his captors spoke to be able to communicate and share his ideas for a better future.

when ronald reagan and margaret thatcher wanted him to remain in prison mandela forgave them.

Tata (affectionaly he is known as Dad) Mandela is still alive. He is in critical condition. This year he has been in an out of hospital with lung infections. His health has been downhill for a while now.

There was recent footage of him (Zuma went to visit) and he didn't look good at all. I don't think he appreciated the visit of the idiot!

Here in SA people are very worried about what will happen when Mandela dies. He had such a forgiving nature, he served his people and country well. Those that have come after him have taken his vision and flushed it down the loo.

He is old, he is sick. I do not think he will last too much longer.

New Job

Hi everyone, again thank you so much for your words of encouragement.

I had a two part strategy for the meeting. The 2nd phase would be If they refused to let me go I would go with the attacking plan and had the ammo to back me up: breach of contract, break down in trust, dishonesty etc.

I am happy to say it didn't come to that. I went in , told them I was recording the meeting for the safety of everyone so that nothing could be added too or taken away. They were happy with that. I then went on to explain that I needed job security and that currently I was not getting that, that I couldn't live on half a salary and that though I knew they were going through financial difficulty they never said they wouldn't pay me, just that it would be a week late - maxium.

They released me from my contract immediately as they didn't have a leg to stand on (they had breached the contract from the very first month and had continued to do so) Plus becuase they hadn't paid their phone bill I couldn't continue to make calls. I made sure that I showed them all the proposals I had sent, gave them all them all the emails and potential clients to be contacted. I also backed up everything I had done and sent onto my personal usb (just in case)

I have a few days off before I start my new job. I am really excited about it and already hve some great ideas to start selling. For the first time in a long time I go forward with hope - something I haven't had for about 18 months.

I'm feeling strong. That is always good.

Again - thank you to everyone that has listened, that has given me support and encourgement - it has really helped me through those dark dark days and I am so grateful. I hope that one day I can get to see some of you face to face and we can share a drink/meal/stories and laughter.

Well I have been up and down this year with this current company I work for. From the time they employed me they have paid me late, without explanation. I have been miserable coming in here. Currently I still haven't been paid for May (well only half my salary).

I have been looking for other job opportunities as I want to find a more stable company that offers better job security. I have been offered a job with a media house. The basic is the same that I get now, but I get a petrol allowance, they pay towards my mobile and there is the opportunity to make commission. The job is in advertising - the field that I know and love. I am to start on the 1st of July.

I am having a meeting in 10 minutes with my current employers to release me from my contract immediately (they have breached it every month and the trust is no longer there). I hope it goes smoothly without any hiccups.

I also hope that the new opportunity pays off. I'm excited and nervous, but hopeful!

I have been feeling a lot better on my medication and feeling stronger every day.

Feeling Guilty

i am feeling gulity because i will not be going to the summer convention.

i just can not sit through the talks they are sooo boring.

im cutting off all contact with the witnesses.

You do/face the things that make us feel guilty. Guilt free drinking, guilt free flutter gamble, guilt free swearword, guilt free smoke a joint, guilt free sleeping in on sundays, guilt free saying happy birthday, guilt free sex, guilt free birthday cake.....

It gets sooo very easy to let go of the guilt.

The cherry on top of a crap year

a self indulgent post - just need to vent.

i've had a year... spent two years dating my ex jw bf and spending way too much time trying to get him out.

read way too many books, i.e crisis of conscience, freedom of mind, i'm perfect you're not, and even the damn bible, blah blah blah.

new22day - it really sucks when life throws so many downers at you one after another...I totally 100% understand your frustration. Does it get better? Jeez i don't know - I'm still reeling 2 years on trying to land. I'd be happy to land on my bum even - just want to land and find something solid under me. It's all about how you deal with the knocks mentally - that is where your strength lies.

Hope you land on stable ground, both feet !

when we got to paragraphs 10,11 with the reference to the box at the top of the page - is your teaching up-to-date?

the conductor asked for an explanation of what the current 'bible truth' was.

for the first one, 'this generation (matt 24:34) absolutely nobody raised their hand!

I do not agree with your statement. I do not think that god creates that moral compass. That comes from within and you don't need a god to tell you/ show you that. I know many christians that are not moral and that varies from christians that have affairs, that do not honor contracts, that lie...so that statement is incorrect.

I do not believe in a god and yet I find that my I am far more considerate, tolerant, loving, caring, to others.

Since you've left, are you still good friends with your bestest JW buddies?

is it possible that someone has a jw friend who's very active in the congregation, knows you don't believe it anymore, and is still your friend?

i'm at the point where word is getting out that i'm not going to meetings anymore, and friends ask me if they'll be seeing me at the ca and i tell them i'm not going.

they want to know why, and what they can do to encourage me.

Nope. I was disfellowshipped, so nobody from my former JW life is friends with me. My cutting off was severe and practiced in full. I have only made contact with 2 former friends very recently as they have left as well. I was very popular in the faith - the girl that threw the parties, the funny one, gave great talks, had money to splash around, did all the fun things - very well liked by sooooo many people....but of course it was all conditional.

Before I got baptised I did dedicate myself to Jehovah, however I also know that it was expected of me by the brothers/sisters/family/congregation and that in order to move forward and progress in the truth I had to take this step. I was happy to at the time because I was young and it seemed like the right thing to do....

....if I had been wiser I would have relised that the man we were taught as JW's to follow only got baptised at 30 - and he was the son of god....that should have been a good indicator on the when to take a serious decision.

After I got disfellowshipped and the more I read and understood, the JW baptism means as much to me and spiritually as taking a dive in the pool - it was under false pretenses and lies - that is what I was baptised into. Once I left the JW faith it means nothing.

Jehovah doesn't exit for me. If he does somehow and is judge and asks me this question - I'll tell him straight - you are a liar and a fraud and you used dirty men to mislead millions.
