NEW JW book arrived in mail...

i don't know want topic this should fall under, don't really care right now.

i've been pissed off most of the afternoon.

my jw stepdad, who until last month i have not spoken to in 10 years, sent me a book--"what does the bible really teach?

I've read your story and I know the feeling of wanting to let them know. I did - but in a way that I hope didn't cause offence....I just said that I can no longer adhere to their beliefs because what they teach is false & I cannot & will not be indoctrinated any longer - all my witness family know & the sense of freedom because now I don't have to hide my true feelings.

Something I hate is LABELLING - the wittnesses do this and I reckon some of us carry it through. We are not apostates.....they've labelled us that - we are normal people that just don't want to follow their way any longer.......

I guess all I'm trying to say is that the real you wants to be free to do what it wants to do in the open.

Throw the book away - you know you don't need.

What that man (he doesn't deserve the title of stepdad even!!!!!!!!!) is sick & disgusting. Yes you are extremely brave to forgive him, and he has the freaking gall to send you a jw book. I'm so pissed off for you right now - I want to break something.

the topic makes me think that i am trying to compare something that really cannot be compared.

(just a note on thought process behind this thread.).

the other day i got into a discussion of opinion and i have to ask you all for your opinion because i am so curious what people may think about the topic.. i am on a kick now, lately that i feel the urge to tell everyone how much i love them.

life is meant to be lived - we make mistakes, we hopefully learn from them, move on. live your best life. be happy with who you are, what you have, try new things, wear suntan lotion, play, cry, laugh.....take the good with the bad & give thanks for both.

So enjoy living.

was just reading the topic "its time to say goodbye" and it makes me wonder what is it that makes people who have been here for a long time leave?

I left a forum I used to truly love, posted 1000s' there......I guess I got bored of the same ol same ol - sometime we couldn't express ourselves freely because you'd get one or two that would moan about the post - we'd try explain freedom of speech but some wouldn't listen.

No compassion during Bible Study

i was remembering today about a bible study an elder's wife took me on once (actually, her elder husband was the congregation overseer).

after the chapter was over for that day (i think the knowledge book), the elder's wife asked when we could arrange the next study.

the frail single mother of three evaded the question, and the elder's wife persisted.

It's almost as if the Witnesses are devoid of emotion. They cannot operate like normal humans, they have ""time counting"" on their minds more than the emotional/physical well being of their fellow brothers/studies/humans.

It truly sickens me to the very pit of my stomach.

Oh how oh how can you love God who can't see and yet despise your brother whom you can. The words to Love one another go so unheeded - The witnesses do NOT understand what Love actually means. They have a intellectual knowledge of the different types of love but very rarely do they. practise love.

i was brought up as a witness since 1971 in my heart i never trully belived but always wanted to please my parants and peers when i got married and had children i stopped going about 10 years ago before this i had suffered with depression and self loathing.

now iam a free man.

right so i have a younger cousin that works with me (helped him get a job with my company because in s.a you gotto pray you know someone who can help you get a job).

as you know i've left the borg - he's still very much into it.

so yesturday myself, him & a mutual college go off for a lunch at the keg - we order our food and when it comes, he bows his head and prays....silenty - the waitress comes over and thinks he's fallen asleep (narcarpsy sp???

Hey Buck.... So you've decided to go along with being an unbaptized publisher - I truly wish you the best though I know oh so well the path you've started on. We all do. Your heart is telling you she is number 1 - her priorities are first to the organisation dude - not you - yes this is sad.

How do I try convey to you that what you are doing is a mistake, How do I convince you not to carry on. So many cliche'd sayings are poping into mind but nothing that I think brings out the seriousness of what you are letting yourself into.

I trully hope that you will keep you mind / heart open - don't wear blinkers (but you might lose the girl).

I'm quite a cynical person when it comes to love - I don't let it rule my heart - I use my mind and I know that nothing is worth my freedom of action/thought. I know what it's like coming from growing up in the so called truth - In many ways I was mature (like your g/f) We seem to have our heads screwed on properly but in truth we are brainwashed - In many ways, yes you live a pretty clean lifestyle but then are stunted and immature in other respects. I'm only seeing that now that I've left.

Don't even know if I'm making much sense here - I'm speaking from my soul, trying to speak to yours.

i feel so absolutely 'wicked' sometimes 'cos my cousin who works with me & is a witness needs to usually get to the files behind me & he sees when i'm on here and he's pretty inquisitive but not to the extent that he'd actually come on here - he asked if this was related to the societies site & i was like - yeah it does in a way - a lot of people come on here and air their views.

so now everytime he comes toward me i hit the minimise key & play at some work (though i am his boss).. i feel like i'm going undercover - shame i just don't want to hurt the boys' feelings.

though in our little chat the other day i was joking around and said that i was preping him for when he get's disfellowshipped.. i'm the b a d cousin

Name Some Trivial Things That Are Big Deals To JWs

so many things come to mind to show how silly jws sound in reality.

for example, being allowed to pass the microphones is a big deal, especially to a young brother.

or being given the "privilege" of cutting the grass or working on a "quick-build" is really something special to a jw.

A sister being asked to read at the bookstudy!!!!!!! - oh yeah BIG deal man especially when you have to wear an apron on your head - you get to feel so holy.

hehehe - or when you tell an existing witness you've left the borg & they "tsk ag shame man" and I say "no no, not a shame, I now know what they all about - it's actually a relief" (to them its like OH NO SATAN HAS HER = VERY BIG BAD BUGGER UP)

I'd tell them to hurry up & do what they seem fit. What's the use of drawing it out and making a huge thing about - their minds are closed and no amount of warring words will change their hearts/minds - unless they see it for themselves.
