Need a quote about society answering questions

sorry to post so many topics lately.

trying to get some info for a project.. i'm after some quotes from watchtower that brag how the watchtower society answers any questions jw's have and how christondom don't (or it doesn't have to have the christendom part in it).

any help appreciated.

JWs often think they have 'the' answers to 'important' questions that other churches 'can't' answer. (This generally means that the answer given by other religions isn't the JW answer.)

The JW approach is sometimes useful for people who are after an answer - that is any answer - to their questions. It's a deeply ignorant approach to life.

One of the 'examples' touted occasionally in JW literature is the supposedly 'satisfying' 'answer' to Where did Cain get his wife? - He... shagged his sister or niece... ah... what a 'refreshing' answer.

Of course, if someone asks a question JWs can't answer, well that 'must' be something we just 'don't need to know', which is awfully convenient, so they're left 'waiting on Jehovah' (which is entirely meaningless).

Your 'research' on this matter is based on childish false syllogisms and very corrupted etymology.

If a child writes a letter to Santa and misspells the name as Satan, it doesn't actually mean the child wants a present from Satan, nor does it imply any other affiliation. Words only really mean what they're intended to mean.

I'm not aware that they do provide any such 'facility', and certainly not better than other Christian denominations. Usually a JW with 'doubts' is expected to 'wait on Jehovah' if answers to their 'questions' are not found in JW literature. Of course, members can write to the Watch Tower Society with questions, but this usually turns into a witch hunt if the 'questions' are too out of line with JW doctrines.

I've only heard of this 'Paleo Diet' very recently (and haven't heard much). It can't do any harm to eat a balanced diet, especially reducing (or eliminating) the amount of processed foods from the diet.

It's fairly likely though that people during the Paleolithic period ate whatever they could find (which probably didn't include a lot of processed foods), and they probably didn't obsess about 'carbs'. They probably also burned more calories obtaining their food than most people do today.

Some ethnicities are simply more prone to certain conditions than others due to many years of genetic deviation. For example, as has been noted above by another poster, native Americans (and also indigenous Australians) are much more prone to diabetes than Europeans. No 'fad diet' is going to suddenly alter genetic predispositions to certain conditions, though healthier diets in general may help not to exacerbate certain conditions.

It is not at all accurate to say JW doctrine is not about Christ, nor is it accurate to say that their doctrines can only be about one thing. But I don't think it's any secret that their doctrines are primarily about Jehovah (i.e. 'God'). That in itself doesn't make them any better or worse than any other religion, and their beliefs are only as irrational as those of other Christians.

I don't like to encourage your delusional drivel. However, it's worth pointing out that Zechariah 8:23 would more readily point to 1/11th being 'natural Jews'.

Isaiah 6:13 is about Jews surviving attacks by Syria (during the Assyrian reign of Tiglath-pileser III), not some magical future thing.

But you're entirely wrong anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter too much.

So where did CTR get his 144,000/literal number idea from in the first place?

When the distribution of Zion's Watch Tower was quite small, 144,000 probably seemed like a practical goal for membership of the Bible Students, so literal was the way to go, plus it made members feel just that little bit more special.

Because of the later growth of the movement, 144,000 became too limiting (particularly allowing for the supposed 'faithful Christians' since Pentecost 33), so it had to be hived off into a separate 'class' to allow for much greater growth for Rutherford's sect.

'Fortunately', the Bible contains enough ambiguous drivel to 'prove' just about anything. For example, read just about any post by Larsinger58.

That's all well and good, and it's entirely up to you whether you choose to frame the more meaningful information I provided around an essentially meaningless assertion.

On the wane?... well, yeah... looking at the ensuing years from the 70's the ratio has been on the decline... we need 8 more years of data to support another drop.

It's not clear on what basis the Yearbooks have been selected for counting anyway, and without data prior to 1970, it's also unclear whether there just happened to be a peak in the 70s and 80s in the Yearbooks rather than merely a decline since.

The Watchtower would represent a more reliable basis for consideration of Jesus in JW doctrine. And it has already been shown, contrary to the OP's false claims, that usage of Jesus therein has remained fairly constant, despite a decline in general content of JW literature.

It's a bit meaningless to simply pick the publication that shows a decline, and hold that up as 'the' evidence of a decline overall. Our Kingdom Ministry - which JWs read much more often than the Yearbooks - shows an increase in the use of Jesus in recent years compared to the 70s. So what?!

SO, perhaps we need to modify EdenOne's calculation slightly by reducing the number of honorable mentions of "Jehovah" by the combo "Jehovah's Witnesses".

Jehovah's people
Jehovah's servants
etc

The point is, it's all rather pointless.
