This is called 'moving the goalposts'. Those - even Santa - are actual subjects with some history (even at least as a story). You aren't talking about anything even as well established (in literary terms) as the stories about Santa. There is in fact very little support among scholars beyond fringe sources for your fanciful notions that YHWH is a character who is distinct from YHVH. Nor is it particularly interesting to anyone if you insist that you know what isn't 'god's real name', but can't actually say what you belief that name actually is, especially when the whole argument is predicated on the supposed existence of something you can't prove exists anyway.

Further, the Hebrew terms translated as hovah (Strongs 1943) and Jehovah (Strongs 3068) only have loosely related etymology from the common root of those words - hayah (Strongs 1933), which simply means to happen. It's like claiming that only mice have muscles because both words come from Latin mus and Greek mys.

Who is the "True God of the Bible" ?

i decided to ask this on the back of "lost"'s thread about yhvh etc.. quite often on here we get bible believers trying to tie the whole mess that is the bible together, and maintaining that it tells us about just one "true" god.. who is this "true" god, and what is the proof that he is true ?.

was he the god of abraham and melchizedech ?.

the god of the ordinary jew before the babylonian exile ?.

Your chosen definition of 'pagan' isn't a 'dictionary definition' of the actual word, but rather, a selective usage of the term Pagan (capital P) as it has been used in relatively recent history, attributed to groups involving 'nature-worship', since the 19th and, particularly, 20th centuries. This is not the same as the word pagan, for which I've already provided definitions.

"Prove the truth to yourself" Why does the GB give this advice?

was reflecting on the instructions that are given pretty regularly to make the truth your own, prove it to ourselves, and address any doubts we might have.

why would jws get this advice when the result of any honest search would lead one to exactly where most of us here are?

i can think of two answers.. first, it's somewhat like being on a tour at a public attraction.

Well I followed that very advice and look where it led me . I tried using just their publications, I could tell straight away that the info they had on evolution was codswallop and it led me to look at what else was codswallop...

I also disproved their own doctrines using only their publications.

JWs are generally happy to follow the groupthink, but there will always be a few who see the man behind the curtain.

and this alterantive title, je-hova, being another pseudonym for Satan, and JW's god, whom they worship and slave for, is actually je-hovah, Satan, then they are not worshiping serving whom they think that they are, which is God the True Father, of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

You just don't seem to get it. There aren't two different characters here. (That is there is no 'YHWH vs. YHVH'; I am not positing anything here about Elohim.) Regardless of what consonants you want to use, you're still discussing the one deity of the Canaanite tribe that later became known as 'Israel' - a character that was ultmately 'borrowed' from earlier stories anyway. It has nothing at all to do with 'Satan'. In fact, the 'Satan' character wasn't even conceived of as a specific entity at the time they made up the god of the Abrahamic religions.

jeffro - how many types of pagan are there ? I don't know. Can you list them for me and I can look them up. thanks

It's really just a subjective and essentially valueless term to describe 'non-Abrahamic religions', with groundless implications that 'Abrahamic religions' are somehow 'right' or 'superior'. This is probalby the sense to which you ascribe, but probably without acknowledging that it is entirely subjective.

By extension, 'pagan' connotes 'uncivilised', which also fairly accurately describes the character of the deity and its followers as described in the Old Testament.

No one is saying that isn't the case. But it isn't happening everywere all the time. And it's not something new.
