---"but I just wanted to know WHO JEahhooovah is!! why won't you answer my question!" ;-)---
I studied with a guy and took him to his first meeting, and he asked me that same question after we left. I guess I heard the name so much I never even thought about it being new to someone.

Did you ever witness someone being escorted out of the KH?
by JH indid it ever happen in your congregation that a person was asked to leave?.
i remember about 10 years ago, an elder was giving the sunday talk, and a woman that i never saw before was seated in the front.
she was all alone, and right in the middle of the brothers talk, she raised her hand and started asking questions to the brother about what he just said.

How do I fix medical records with their finding out?
by Bonnie_Clyde inafter reading aude_sapere's story, i would like to delete "jehovah's witness" from my records at two hospitals.
how can i be sure that a jw employee wouldn't find out and report to the elders?

I seem to remember an article or a questions from readers that addressed the issue about working in a hospital, finding out confidential information and then relaying it to the org.
It basically said that the person's conscience would cause them to relay the information (I think it was about working there and seeing a sister come in and get an abortion or something like that).
My point is that a witness working there might STILL decide to tell the brothers even if they knew it meant their job (and career), because the WT told them to do it. -

I wonder how much the brother that answered the phone even knows about the situation? Was there a meeting there to "explain" to them how to respond to questions like that? You'd think it would match the letter they sent to the branch offices about it, at least they'd be trying to keep their story straight.

And under this "trick" they somehow submitted material to the UN proving they were supporting them?
That's some trick! -

Do you believe that good comes from fighting?
by jeanniebeanz infor example, if you and your significant other fight, does any good ever come of it?
what about getting 'into it' with your teenagers; is that a good thing or a bad thing?.
does fighting ever yield a favorable outcome?.

I have to be pushed really really hard to get into a fight. I don't like to just attack someone emotionally, I don't see the point. And of course I don't like it done to me either.
I find that I can say what's bothering me in a controlled way and in a way that shows I'm there to work it out, not to just vent. I don't think I've ever been in a real verbal "fight" in my life. Disagreements, yes, many times, but never a fight.
If someone blows off steam at me, I don't fight back, just take it. Then when things cool down, we can talk about it in a reasonable way. I couldn't be in a relationship with someone who felt that yelling or fighting was a normal way to communicate. -

Parents say the darnest things...
by mrsjones5 inthis was said to me by my mother in the heat of an arguement where she was trying to impress on me that i should show respect to her no matter how she treats me:.

My grandmother said to me a few months ago as I was dropping her off after taking her to dinner, "Goodnight Hodgkin's".
I said, "uh, that's a disease", to which she says, "yeah, and there's a cure".
That was all about me not being a jw anymore. -

Bad habits
by Satanus inthis thread isn't about spitting on the sidewalk or picking your nose in public.
i am talking about bad thinking habits.
ways of thinking that we learned in order to survive, bad ways of thinking that we learned because of wrong information/wrong beliefs that we had.

Wow talesin, that makes some sense.
I'm a big procrastinator and I tend to have a subconscious feeling that it doesn't matter anyway (if I get something done). I do get things done, but always at the last minute because I basically have to.
I set goals in my life and I work toward them, but I always have this little nagging feeling in me that it really doesn't matter anyway. -

---"But I know the idea behind the original post here is not specifically about older men and younger women. It's about a person who only seeks relationships with others he or she can dominate. And that seems sad--both for the dominator and particularly the dominated."---
Absolutely! I have no interest in dominating my GF. She's my friend and has just as many interests as I do and just as much say in what we do as I do. She's an adult and acts like one. She has a career and I support her in it fully. I would think acting like a father to her would be very unappealing to me and most certainly to her. She wouldn't allow that one bit!
After I divorced I dated women from 38-45 years old. Very nice girls, but their interests in what to do didn't match mine. I like to backpack, hike, camp, take the kids to the zoo in the middle of the week, and do many things spontaneously. I found girls my age enjoyed other things than I enjoy.
We do get the occasional dirty looks and even nasty comments when we're out together. I've had people call me a pervert who know nothing at all about who we are, just seeing our age difference and making a judgement. She's the one that blasts them back when that happens as it pisses her off more than it does me.
But I don't think that my dating someone 24 years old makes me some kind of sick person. She pursued me, she asked me out, I agreed, and it's working out just great. May not end in marriage or a life together, but what guarantee is there of that at any age? -

I don't clean my car enough. Everytime I get in it I think "Geez, clean this thing!", then I still don't do it.
It's all dust. I live in the desert so everything is dusty all the time. I hate dust but I've almost given up. -

I'm dating someone younger than me (16 years) but she's been married and has two kids. I couldn't really imagine dating someone just out of high school (or younger).
My interests match up alot better with someone her age than someone my age. Maybe I'm immature (I am) but we do well together.
But I couldn't imagine getting involved with someone just out of high school or even younger. I don't think it would be fair to someone that age to expect her to get involved with someone so much older.
