My GF is an EMT. She's a very caring, loving and compassionate person, but she can go out on a call, come back and say "One dead, two critical. Let's go to a movie!"
Somehow she's able to distance herself from it without losing the care and concern that she has for people. -

TOP TEN SIGNS THAT YOU ARE AN UNQUESTIONING JEHOVAH'S WITNESS
by nicolaou in10- you vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of your god - jehovah.. .
9- you feel insulted and 'dehumanized' when scientists say that people evolved from lesser life forms, but you have no problem with the biblical claim that we were created from dirt.. .
8- you laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in multidues of demons, angels, cherubs etc.. .

When you think that learning facts from both sides and weighing them honestly is the proper way to form an opinion. But the method should never be applied when deciding that the FDS is correct in it's statements.

In the U.S. I'd like to stay right where I am, but I lived in Erding (near Munich, Germany) for several months a while back and I think I'd like to spend time there again, even live there indefinitely.
I loved the area, the proximity to Munich and ease of travel, and the people were wonderful. -

Your thoughts about Wal-mart
by desbah in.
do you shop at wally world?
i can spend over $100.00 on little items, man shopping at wally world is the devil on my checkbook.

The only time I go to Wal-Mart is when I happen to be with someone who ends up taking me there. I never go on my own for many of the reasons already mentioned. I prefer Target for similar type stuff.
---"shop at Trader Joe's together as all good homo's should :)"---
Uh, I love shopping at Trader Joe's. Is there something about myself I don't know? I think I like girls, really, I do! I think... -

response to 'older men dating teenagers/lolita'
by girl_interrupted inhey guys.
i feel deeply for wanderlustguy, when he describes what his father was like with young girls....incidentally, the reason i was disfellowshipped (among other things) was because i had an affair with a much older 'brother' in the cong.
i was just 14 at the time, and being naive and completely under his influence, i believed myself to completely in love with him and believed he felt the same way for me.

Burn the ISO files to CD's. Put the first one in, boot up, and hopefully it'll boot off the CD and walk you through an install.
What distro did you get? Sounds like you already found "A Free linux site". -

Are Bethelites more likely to leave the JWs than others?
by Gill inhave you any experience of families whose sons have gone off to bethel and then decided to not have any more contact with their family and jws at all very soon after returning?.
i ask this question because i know of two families where this has been the case.. the first family had three sons who one after the other went to the london bether to 'serve' within a couple of years of eachother.. after three years there all three returned home completely different people.
they then left home, left dub land, two married non jws and another lives with his girlfriend.

I had a friend that went to Bethel. Before he went, he was a very conservative JW. Would leave if we rented a movie and something offensive (nudity) turned up in it, would shut off the radio if the song bothered him, that kind of stuff. Being a JW was his life.
He came back to visit once and I was shocked at his attitude. He had a pretty negative view of his life there. Eventually he left. I think he's still a JW, but hearing his comments about being there was so different for him, I never would have believed he would have negative things to say about the org. -

PGA, GO AWAY!!
by lonelysheep inmy commute sucks!!!!!!!!!
every day, traffic everywhere.
i hate it.

That would happen to me where I used to live. Once I got routed into a parking area when I was trying to get to work. Took my regular shortcut and the road had been turned into a "one way in" kind of thing. I messed them up turning around and I felt like an idiot, but I had to.
Been through it too, LS. It'll be over soon. -

car advice
by tsunami_rid3r inhey my dad is going to trade my gmc 2004 single cab black truck for a new ford mustang but i dont really want that because it will be expensive.
if i had it my way i wouldve bought the 1991 honda crx this chick at work was selling for 800 bucks.
so instead of the mustang i want to trade in for a new or used honda civic.
-
thom
Yes, don't forget the insurance and gas costs. For me, I'd take the Honda either way, new or used, but that's just me.
---"do used cars really break down much?"---
Depends on if you take care of them. I bought a $900 '93 Corolla 2 1/2 years ago and it still runs great. Spent about $1,400 in repairs over that time, which comes out to about $46/month (A/C repair and new clutch). Insurance is $45/month and gas mileage is great.
It's never broken down for me, just like the Dodge I had before it with 180,000 miles on it never broke down. I drive back and forth to Wisconsin about every 6 weeks (3,600 miles round trip). But I take care of them. Let them rot and they'll let you walk.
