Keep your head up high and let the knowledge that now you're the one in control of your own life keep a smile on your face.

Excellent interview, Bryan. You came across clearly and made your points and didn't appear to be bashing anyone, just stating facts. As Big Tex mentioned, I think it does add credibility how you presented things.

I was the reader once when we were using a book that had the name "Darius" a bunch of times. Well, I have a cousin by that name and we pronounce it one way for my cousin and another way from the Bible.
I got it wrong the first paragraph I read and the conductor let me know, so for the rest of the study I alternated between pronunciations every single time I read it. I did that for the entire book study, saying it the "other" way each time I read it, which was probably about 100 times that night.
I was known to balk at authority in the KH, so it really didn't surprise anybody. Most people were giggling about it actually. -

Do JWs give you the creeps?
by sonnyboy ini'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but i've recently begun to get the willies when i'm around an active jehovah's witness.
this didn't happen until after i started posting here.. when i stop by my parents' house on a saturday morning and the witnoids show up, i get a sinking feeling in my stomach....a mix between sickness, fear, and anger.
i used to try and put on a happy face and be sociable when they came in, but now i just wave goodbye and as i'm walking out.

---"it is only creepy when other witness are there who refuse to take off their "holy" mask and either ignore me or try and "encourage" me."---
It's that "holy" mask that really irritates me. That sickening smile when they're talking to eachother. Like they're trying to demonstrate to me what a wonderful thing I left, but I just think when I see that, "I'm so glad I did!". -

Little Time for Little Minds
by LouBelle indon't you just hate it when you get into a discussion with someone and they just 1. refuse to hear your opinion 2. shut you down 3. will not apologise even if proven wrong.. it's as if they wear blinkers and only their opinion counts & though they want to discuss a matter, only want their opinion to be heard & without even hearing yours they already know you're wrong.
i'm not refering to the witnesses here, i'm talking about "some" people in general.
people at work, people you meet at bars.....or anyone that you can't reason with.

Yeah, those types can be very frustrating to talk to. If I don't have to, I avoid it.
My father is that way. He's an only child and was told how smart and special he is from the day he was born. He's 63 now and lives two blocks away from his parents and still hears it! I can never even finish a sentence when talking to him because it's all about him showing me that he's right. It's very frustrating! Those faces he makes when I'm talking make me feel like I'm a stupid moron. -

My house is all tile except for the bedrooms. Now and then I end up shutting one of the cats in a bedroom without realizing it. When I open the door later I find the results of their trying to dig out by shredding the carpet at the door.
Can't wait until I can tile the entire house. -

the walking dead
by kj ini know that jws view df'd ones as the walking dead, but how do they view non-jws?
i thought that they considered them walking dead, too, but my mom says no.
can anyone clear that up for me?

Every JW I've spoken too since I left has said the the WT does not teach that only JW's will survive armageddon, but I know it does and thanks Blondie for pointing out an article. I always knew as a JW I believed that and I know all these others do too, but what's their point of telling me they don't believe it? I wonder if they're convinced themselves because it's too horrifying? I don't know.

I've met two girls over the internet. I've never used a dating site, and never intended to meet someone via the internet, but I have:
The first I met via my blog (she read my blog and emailed me). We chatted by email, then IM and then alot on the phone (some times all night, 8 hour phone calls). We eventually arranged to meet so I went to OK where she lives, she's a university student there. We had 3 great days together, even stayed at the same on campus hotel (though I wouldn't really recommend a girl do that). We kept to separate bedrooms. She is a very nice person and we got along very well, but we decided that neither of us was in a position to move so we'd better stop it sooner rather than later. She's still a good friend, but we're leaving it at friends.
The second girl I met was on IRC. We just started chatting, then talking on the phone ALOT. I've visited her quite a few times and she's been here several times too. It's easier for me to travel, so I go there more. We're still dating and at this point are committed to eachother and have a full blown relationship. Plans are to live at her place in the summers and here in the winters. We both have kids and school and stuff so it's taking a bit of time to make things happen, but at this point that's the direction we're going.
So at least for me, dating people I've met on the internet has been nothing but good experiences. -

WLG, I'm glad you're finding some ways to move forward. Sounds like you're thinking pretty clearly, which is great.
Excercise is a good thing mentally, so is getting out now and then. You sound like someone easy to get along with so hopefully you'll pick up a friend here and there and have more people to chat with on the phone or go out and do stuff with. Sounds like you're going to do fine.
---"Making myself remember why – remembering being lied to and controlled and mentally abused. This makes me angry and reminds me that no way in hell am I going to let someone else take advantage of me like that again, and also reminds me why I am doing this."---
That's good that you're remembering the past, but not dwelling on it. Live your life for the future and be careful to not live in the past. So much that will be coming along in your life and so many good times coming in the future, I know from experience. I'm fortunate to have my daughter so I'm not alone, but raising a child is a little different than having a partner. Being self employed doesn't help but many of the things you mentioned are things that I do also, and it works out well. I'm at the point where I appreciate the privacy I have and the ability to do what I want when I want. Life really starts looking up after a while. It will.
