think they need an X-JW safehouse plan (w/inhouse psychologists/psychiatrists) but it would be too embarrassing for one's neighbors to know/recall you were part of the dangerous cult.

by Holey_Cheeses*King_of_the juice. inperhaps a member can provide some details regarding this matter.. my wife mentioned to me this evening that one of her younger sisters who is sort of close to the jw parents said that her parents had 'let the cat out of the bag' by stating that their house is a designated safe house in the event of a catastrophe (i assume this would be termed a natural disaster as opposed to a great trib type event).. is this true of the dubs?
could it be only an australian 'thing', or is it a world wide directive of the gb?.

Scavenging for members at their place of work
by White Dove ina jw came in as i started my shift today and said that he tried to contact me before but i wasn't there.. i'm deaf and the brother was from an asl congregation.. i used to do calls like that but didn't realize how irritating and upsetting it could be for the employee/householder.
i told him that i used to be a jw but quit.. he asked me if i was under discipline or df'd or something..
wtf?!

by JRK indon't get me wrong, it does suck.
but after being on ex-jw boards for years, and being df'ed for almost 10; i do see some hidden blessings.. first, you do not have to struggle with fading successfully.
you are just out; the cord has been cut.

My brother is now being trained as a Circut Overseer.
by Voices ini received a phone call from my mother (who is still a jw, but very accepting of me still as her loving son, even though i was disfellowshiped for questioning the oranization and choosing the bible over the watchtower at that time).
she makes normal talk, just regular stuff pertaining to situations of ours.
about me coming to visit, and or her coming.

Voices --- your poor brother has been "hooked," and has underestimated the cult with whom he's dealing --- watchtower, and we have to give up our naive assumption that people don't follow agendas of their own --- his could be unmet needs of his early childhood (perhaps to avoid taking responsibility of his own life's power now and handing it over to someone else/the ORG. it's an escape, and it's called denial to make reality MORE TOLERABLE. YOU, on the other hand, like minimus has indicated, are on the path of working thru this painful process to earn FREEDOM. THIS IS HARD WORK.
when we are stressed we go back to the FAMILIAR or plotting an EZ way to escape this PAIN however we can so maybe his way looks comfy/successful to you at this point --- NOT!!!! poor brother is not in reality. we will do anything to avoid/STOP this suffering/pain caused by REALITY, NOT BY CHANGING OUR CIRCUMSTANCES (like you are) but pretending our circumstances are something other than what they are.
